Kevin Macias kicked five field goals, Montana scored a touchdown on the second play of the game, and the Grizzlies beat in-state rival Montana State 29-10 in front of a record home crowd on Saturday in the 120th Brawl of the Wild. Montana (9-2, 6-2), ranked seventh in the FCS coaches poll, snapped a four-game losing streak in the series and denied third-ranked Montana State (9-2, 7-1) a chance of securing an outright Big Sky Conference title. It was a record 26,856 in attendance at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The Grizzlies essentially put the game away late in the third quarter when Montana State attempted a fake field goal. Bobcats' holder Bryce Leighton looked to either pitch the ball or run it, but Montana's Jace Lewis knocked the ball free while diving to block the kick. Justin Ford scooped it up and returned it 56 yards into the end zone and the Grizzlies led 26-3. The game featured some of the best defenses in the FCS. The Grizzlies entered having not allowed a touchdown in 10 quarters.

The Bobcats had the fifth-ranked defense, holding opponents to an average of 21 points and 355 yards. Montana's Camron Humphrey threw a strike to Junior Bergen in the middle of the field, who then ran untouched for a 74-yard touchdown on the game's second play from scrimmage. On the ensuing series, Matthew McKay led the Bobcats to the Montana 5, but two false-start penalties and a sack forced a 35-yard field goal from Blake Glessner. Humphrey completed 13 of 22 passes for 220 yards but also threw two interceptions. Macias was perfect on field goal attempts that included a career-best 50-yarder. It was Montana's first field goal made from 50 yards since 2013. McKay was 13-of-25 passing for 108 yards. He threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Nate Stewart with 48 seconds remaining. - Montana/AP College Football

Cam Humphrey threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score and Montana rolled to a 35-0 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday. Humphrey had a 20-yard scoring run in the first quarter for the second score for the Grizzlies (7-2, 4-2 Big Sky Conference); ranked 10th in the FCS coaches poll. The two early scores were set up when Northern Colorado turned the ball over on an interception and downs. Humphrey connected with Cole Grossman for a 21-yard touchdown to open the scoring and hooked up with Samuel Akrem for 42-yards late in the second for a 21-0 lead at halftime. Akem had a 17-yard scoring reception in the third quarter. The Grizzlies cashed in on a fumble with Isiah Childs' 2-yard run in the fourth quarter. Humphrey was 19 of 25 for 233 yards.   Marcus Welknel blocked a field goal attempt with 3:06 to play, Justin Ford returned an interception for a touchdown and Montana escaped with a 20-19 win over Southern Utah on Saturday. The underdog Thunderbirds led most of the way, answering quickly each time the Grizzlies grabbed a lead after a missed extra point put Southern Utah's early lead at 9-0. Montana (6-2, 3-2 Big Sky Conference), ranked No. 11 in the FCS coaches poll, capped the scoring with a 30-yard Kevin Macias field goal early in the fourth quarter. This time Southern Utah (1-8, 0-6) didn't answer, even though the Grizzlies gave the Thunderbirds chances with an interception and fumble.

Ford's pick-6, his sixth-straight game with an interception, gave Montana a 10-9 lead but a 60-yard connection from Justin Miller to Brandon Schenks made it 16-10 for the Thunderbirds at the half. In the third quarter, the Griz scored on a 24-yard pass from Kris Brown to Cole Grossman but Southern Utah responded with a long drive and a 30-yard field goal. Montana had four turnovers and 12 penalties for 125 yards. Veteran quarterback Cam Humphrey, who missed the last three games with an ankle injury, returned on the third UM possession and finished out the first half. He did not not play in the second half after reinjuring the ankle. - Montana/AP College Football

Bergen finished with 18 carries for 77 yards. The Grizzlies' Kris Brown threw for 256 yards that included a 6-yard TD pass to Cole Grossman in the second quarter. Brown added a 3-yard TD run in the third. Gevani McCoy had 123 yards passing and a touchdown and two interceptions for Idaho (2-5, 1-3). The Vandals took an early lead on Aundre Carter's 2-yard touchdown run but didn't score again until McCoy's 14-yard TD pass to Mekhi Stevenson with 1:11 remaining. - AP College Football

San Diego State needed a spark on offense and Lucas Johnson delivered. Johnson threw TD passes to Jesse Matthews in both overtime periods for his only completions of the game as No. 24 San Diego State finally got going offensively after a rough regulation and beat San Jose State 19-13 Friday night. Johnson relieved an ineffective and banged-up Jordon Brookshire in the fourth quarter and came through in overtime after a few shaky moments in regulation. "We just thought we were a little stagnant and we needed to do something different," coach Brady Hoke said. Neither team scored a touchdown in regulation before Johnson delivered a 14-yard pass on the opening possession of overtime for the Aztecs (6-0, 2-0 Mountain West).

Tyler Nevens answered with a 1-yard run for the Spartans (3-4, 1-2). But Trenton Thompson intercepted Nick Nash to start the second overtime to set the stage for Johnson and Matthews. "We’ve never been in a game like that before," Thompson said. "It was a crazy one for us." That set the stage for Johnson and Matthews to end it with a 24-yard pass on third down against man coverage to help San Diego State improve to 6-0 for the second time in 46 years. "I love that matchup all day," Johnson said. "He went up and made a spectacular play two times. I give a lot of props to him." The game was an offensive slog with the teams combining for 14 punts, four field goals, one fumble, one missed field goal and a turnover on downs without scoring a touchdown in regulation. - San Diego State/AP College Football

Cam Humphrey threw for two touchdowns, special teams added a pair of scores and the Montana defense contributed one as the Grizzlies rolled to a 39-7 win over Cal Poly on Saturday. Humphrey kicked off the scoring with a 65-yard hookup with Samuel Akem midway through the first quarter. Two snaps later, defensive end Justin Belknap dropped back in coverage and picked off Conor Bruce, returning the interception 24 yards. Leading 18-0 at halftime, Kevin Macias returned the second half kickoff 95 yards. After Humphrey's connection with Joey Elwell, Levi Janacaro blocked a punt and then recovered the loose ball in the end zone. Montana (2-0, 1-0 Big Sky Conference) had 354 yards of offense, eight less than the Mustangs but the Grizzly defense forced two turnovers and had 14 tackles for loss, including four sacks. Cal Poly (1-3) got a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Shakobe Harper early in the fourth, the first score the Grizzly defense allowed in 36 drives. In his second stint at Montana, Bobby Hauck got his 101st win in the Grizzlies' 101st homecoming game. - AP College Football

By the time San Diego State dialed up a successful Philly Special on its final 2-point conversion attempt, it wasn't even the craziest part of the Aztecs' triple-overtime thriller with Utah. And after one last video review went their way, the Aztecs could celebrate another win over a Pac-12 foe. Quarterback Lucas Johnson caught a 2-point conversion pass from Jesse Matthews in triple overtime, and San Diego State blew a 14-point lead in the final minutes of regulation before hanging on for a 33-31 victory over the Utes on Saturday night. "It was exciting," Aztecs coach Brady Hoke said. "I'm not going to deny that." Johnson scored easily on a picture-perfect Philly Special after both teams' kickers missed field goal attempts in double overtime.

Moments later, the Aztecs (3-0) collectively ran across the field in a frenzy when officials reversed their call of a 2-point conversion catch by Utah's Connor O'Toole, ruling the ball hit the turf. "I still can't believe it," Aztecs defensive lineman Cameron Thomas said. "When it was official, I was so excited. I don't even know what was going through my mind. I'm excited to keep this season rolling." Greg Bell rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns and Jordan Byrd returned a kickoff 100 yards for a TD, but the Aztecs passed for only 44 yards and nearly gave away their second straight victory over a Pac-12 opponent after beating Arizona last week. - San Diego State/AP College Football
