  2025 CAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Monmouth sophomore running back Rodney Nelson led the CAA and ranked second in FCS in rushing, piling up 1,802 yards and 18 touchdowns for one of the nation's most prolific offenses. The sophomore ran for 100 or more yards in nine of his 12 games and topped the 200-yard mark three times. He added 30 receptions for 229 yards and a TD to lead the country in all-purpose yardage (2,031). Nelson's 1,802 rushing yards are the second-most in Monmouth history and ranks as the fifth-highest total ever in the CAA. - CAA Football

  2025 CAA DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Monmouth freshman defensive end Lamont Lester, Jr. contributed 37 tackles, a team-high 11.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. The 9.5 sacks were tied for second in the CAA and 11th nationally. He was involved in at least one sack in nine of 12 games.   WEEK 10 FCS NATIONAL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rodney Nelson, Monmouth, RB, R-So., 5-8, 195,...As Monmouth (8-1) continued to lean on Nelson's production, he had career highs for carries (34), rushing yards (244) and all-purpose yards (306), and rushed for two touchdowns in a 35-7 CAA win at Bryant. His 49- and 13-yard receptions were on drives that ended with teammates scoring TDs. His all-purpose yards are the second most by an FCS player this season, and he's first in games with 100+ rushing yards (eight) and 200+ rushing yards (three).   Frankie Weaver threw for career highs of 428 yards and six touchdowns, Rodney Nelson ran for 163 yards and three scores, and Monmouth beat North Carolina A&T 63-19 on Saturday. Monmouth (9-2, 6-1 Coastal Athletic Association), which was coming off a 34-13 loss to New Hampshire, improved to 9-1 versus FCS opponents this season and 2-0 following a defeat. The Hawks, ranked No. 12 in the FCS coaches' poll, still trail No. 9 Rhode Island (9-2, 7-0) in the conference standings. TJ Speight and Maxwell James each had over 100-yard receiving for Monmouth. Speight had five catches for a career-high 162 yards and two touchdowns, and James added three grabs for 102 yards and a score. Josh Derry had two touchdown catches.

Weaver's 62-yard touchdown pass to Speight gave Monmouth a 21-3 lead after the first quarter. Weaver added a 71-yard connection to James to cap a 95-yard drive for a 42-13 halftime lead. Weaver had touchdown throws of 53 and 29 yards in the third to make it 56-13. Nelson's touchdown runs of 6, 2 and 26 yards helped push him over the century mark for the ninth time this season. Kevin White threw for 183 for North Carolina A&T (2-9, 2-5), with six completions and 103 yards to Jayvonne Dillard. White also ran for a score.   Rodney Nelson set career highs with 233 yards rushing and four touchdowns, Israel Clark-White had a key interception late, and Monmouth beat Hampton 28-10 on Saturday for its fifth straight win. Nelson scored on 5- and 3-yard runs to cap long scoring drives between the first and second quarters, and his 1-yard TD run ended another long drive for Monmouth to stretch its lead to 21-10 with 9:36 left in the fourth.

On the ensuing series, Braden Davis lead Hampton near midfield before Clark-White's pick ended the drive. The FCS ninth-ranked Hawks (7-1, 4-0 Coastal Athletic Association) then chewed up more than five minutes before Nelson scored his last TD from 6-yards out. Monmouth was without Derek Robertson, who has 2,439 yards passing and 27 touchdowns on the season, due to an injury. Backup Frankie Weaver was 14 of 25 for 122 yards with an interception in his collegiate debut as a starter. Nelson has rushed for 100-plus yards in five straight games, with a previous high of 203 on Oct. 4. - AP College Football

  Derek Robertson threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns, Frankie Weaver passed for another score, and Monmouth beat Stony Brook 49-21 on Saturday for its fourth straight victory. Rodney Nelson, who entered ranked first in FCS with 144.0 rushing yards per game, rushed for 141 yards and two scores for Monmouth (6-1, 3-0 Coastal Athletic Association). Josh Derry had seven catches for 109 yards and a score, and Tra Neal caught two touchdown passes. Derry, a 5-foot-9 receiver, broke several tackles before getting into the end zone for a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Ryan Russo highlighted the third quarter with a 50-yard interception return to make it 28-14.

Weaver's 41-yard pass to Josh Derry set up Neal's 13-yard TD grab to make it 35-21 - the first of three fourth-quarter touchdowns for Monmouth. Nelson capped the scoring with a 73-yard run. Four different players threw a pass for Stony Brook (3-4, 1-2). Chris Zellous was 13 of 22 for 103 yards with two interceptions, but he also ran it 17 times for 107 yards.   Elijah Jennings ran for three touchdowns, Derek Robertson threw for two more, and Monmouth stayed unbeaten in Coastal Athletic Association play with a 42-31 win over Towson on Saturday. Robertson completed 26 of 31 passes for 244 yards, and the Hawks (5-1, 2-0 CAA) piled up 448 total yards with a balanced offense that found the end zone in every quarter. Rodney Nelson ran 27 times for 152 yards and opened the scoring on a 1-yard plunge in the first.

Robertson's 4-yard touchdown pass to Maxwell James pushed Monmouth ahead 14-0 early in the second before Towson responded with a 1-yard scoring toss from Winston Watkins to CJ Schaeffer. Jennings scored from a yard out for a 21-7 lead, but the Tigers (3-4, 1-2) cut it to 21-14 at halftime on Andrew Indorf's 4-yard pass to John Dunmore. Towson tied it twice - at 21 on Indorf's 6-yard throw to Lukkas Londono, then again at 28 after Watkins' 8-yard run - before Monmouth pulled away behind a 10-yard pass to Jack Neri and Jennings' third touchdown from three yards out. Josh Derry caught six passes for 67 yards, while Gavin Nelson and TJ Speight combined for eight receptions. Towson's Indorf finished with 292 yards and three scores, but fumbled twice, losing one.   Derek Robertson threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns and Monmouth never trailed in a 51-33 win over Villanova on Saturday in a game featuring a pair of top 20 FCS teams. It was Robertson's second straight game throwing for four scores. He also threw for 410 yards in a 42-35 defeat against FBS Charlotte last week. On the second play from scrimmage, Robertson threw a 75-yard touchdown to Josh Derry who finished with eight catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns. The Wildcats countered on their opening drive when Pat McQuaide threw a 10-yard touchdown to Brandon Binkowski to knot it at 7-7. But Monmouth seized control scoring the next 24 points and led 31-14 at halftime.

Rodney Nelson ran for 186 yards on 33 carries and scored twice for Monmouth. McQuaide threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns, David Avitt ran for 135 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns and Luke Colellla caught 117 yards on nine receptions for Villanova. It marked the last time the two will square off as Coastal Athletic Association opponents. The Wildcats will compete in the Patriot League starting next season. No. 18 Monmouth (3-1, 1-0) stayed perfect in its four-game history over 12th-ranked Villanova (1-2, 0-1). - AP College Football
