Mississippi State is losing one more piece from its 2020 puzzle. Senior wide receiver Osirus Mitchell announced Tuesday via Twitter that he will forgo the final year of eligibility afforded to him by the NCAA amid the COVID-19 pandemic to enter the NFL draft. Mitchell becomes the fifth MSU senior to enter the draft in addition to classmates guard Dareuan Parker, linebacker Erroll Thompson and defensive ends Kobe Jones and Marquiss Spencer. Mitchell finished the 2020 season with 47 receptions for 505 yards and four touchdowns in 11 appearances. - The Dispatch

Another Mississippi State draft decision has been made. Bulldogs starting guard Dareuan Parker announced Sunday afternoon that he will forgo the extra year of eligibility the NCAA has afforded players amid the COVID-19 pandemic and will enter the 2021 NFL draft. Parker was one of the few stalwarts along an MSU offensive line this fall that endured ample changeover and mismatching combinations. - The Dispatch

A former Arizona State graduate transfer, Ruiz started 10 games at placekicker last season. Entering bowl season, Ruiz ranked No. 17 in career field goals made in the FBS (47) and No. 24 in points per game (7.2).   Another Texas Longhorns player is set to join fourth-year running back Keaontay Ingram in the NCAA transfer portal, as Inside Texas reported on Friday that fourth-year defensive back Jalen Green will enter the portal, too. Unfortunately for Green, his development didn't follow the same trajectory as some of his classmates. Not playing defense full time at Houston Heights was likely one reason, but the change in scheme in 2020 also played a role during Green's crucial junior season. As a freshman, the 6'1, 197-pounder mostly played on special teams before emerging as a seven-game starter in 2019 with 30 tackles, five pass breakups, and two tackles for loss. - Burnt Orange Nation

Mississippi State is down another receiver. A source with knowledge of the situation told The Dispatch Thursday morning that redshirt freshman and former Noxubee County standout Kyziah Pruitt has entered the transfer portal. Pruitt, who struggled with injuries for much of his two-year tenure at MSU, did not appear in a game during his time in Starkville. A former three-star recruit, the one-time Noxubee County star was rated the No. 23 player in Mississippi according to 247Sports. Despite playing a run-heavy scheme as a prep star, Pruitt notched 2,824 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns. He also added 592 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. During his senior season at Noxubee County he corralled 28 receptions for 362 yards and two touchdowns. - The Dispatch

Cal football lost a key player to the transfer portal Sunday as sophomore receiver Makai Polk announced his commitment to Mississippi State. The move came as a surprise - Polk firmly established himself as one of the Bears' top receivers over the course of the shortened 2020 season. The wideout earned praise and attention and was a consistent deep threat that Cal's offense desperately needed. Over the course of the previous offseason, Polk added weight and elevated his game, evolving into a more dynamic target for quarterback Chase Garbers. Polk accumulated 478 yards and three touchdown passes after 17 games with the blue and gold and was primed to be an important member of the team's offense for years to come. - Daily Californian

After just two seasons with the Bears, sophomore receiver Makai Polk entered the transfer portal despite a breakout 2020 season. Should Polk decide to transfer, his presence will be sorely missed. Polk ranked behind only Kekoa Crawford in receiving yards this season, racking up 183 yards and a touchdown over the season's four games. He had multiple receptions in every contest this season and, between the end of the 2019 season and now, emerged as a deep target for quarterback Chase Garbers. Polk had the Bears' longest reception of the season, a 52-yard bomb against Oregon State, and filled out his lanky, 6'3" frame over the offseason to become a bigger, more physical threat on the outside. That came after a career-best 105-yard performance at the 2019 Redbox Bowl to end his freshman season. - Daily Californian

Mississippi State is down a second defensive end. Senior captain and former Starkville High School standout Kobe Jones released a video Friday afternoon announcing he will forgo his extra year of eligibility afforded by the NCAA amid to the COVID-19 pandemic and enter the 2021 NFL draft. While Jones played more of a complementary role during his first four years in Starkville, the former Yellow Jacket proved a force during the 2020 campaign. He finished the season with 29 tackles - including four for a loss - and two sacks opposite running mate Marquiss Spencer at the other defensive end slot. - The Dispatch

Mississippi State is losing another key cog in its defense. Senior defensive end Marquiss Spencer announced his intentions Wednesday night that he will forgo his extra year of eligibility to enter the 2021 NFL draft. Spencer is the second MSU defender to forgo their extra year of eligibility after senior linebacker Erroll Thompson did so on Tuesday. Spencer, who lost his junior year due to a season-ending injury, enjoyed massive outputs in 2019 and 2020 and briefly flirted with entering the draft a year ago. As a senior, the Greenwood native recorded 30 tackles, three sacks and an interception in nine games. Spencer also earned SEC Academic Fall Honor Roll honors in both 2017 and 2019. - The Dispatch

The senior linebacker has chosen to forego the extra year of eligibility the NCAA granted all seniors who played during a season heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to enter to 2021 NFL Draft.
