Three Louisiana Tech senior football players decided last week forego the remainder of their careers in Ruston and enter their names in the 2021 NFL Draft. During his Zoom teleconference Tuesday, Tech head football coach Skip Holtz said while starting left tackle Donavaughn Campbell, wide receiver Adrian Hardy and running back Justin Henderson told him of their intentions prior to them announcing their departure from the program, he said he didn't agree with all three leaving before the 2020 season wraps up.

"They all three informed me of their decision. They came to me and told me this is where they are," Holtz said. "They're all seniors. They're all big boys and they need to make their own decision. I told them I didn't necessarily agree with it, but I wasn't there to argue with them. If they felt like that was in their best interest, then I would respect it. I would support it. "I asked them to explain to me why. I understand why they made their decision. I don't agree with all of them, but it's not my decision. It's their decision and we're going to react and respond to them with the players that are on this roster that want to play and represent Louisiana Tech." - Monroe News Star

Make it two Louisiana Tech seniors this week that have foregone the remainder of the 2020 season to start preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft. Two days after left tackle Donavaughn Campbell made his intentions known, wide receiver Adrian Hardy announced via his Twitter page he would be entering his name in the NFL Draft and skipping the rest of the season with the Bulldogs. When asked before this year kicked off why he decided to come back and how he blocks out talks of his potential future in the NFL, Hardy said he just takes it one day at a time. You can't get too caught up in the talk," he said. "I just work every day, that's really it." Hardy is widely considered one of Louisiana Tech's top eligible pro prospects this year and is currently projected as a late round to undrafted free agent signee. - Monroe News Star

As Louisiana Tech navigates a three-week stretch where it hasn't played a game due to COVID-19 related issues either within the program or within opposing teams, three seniors have now decided to move on. Bulldog senior running back Justin Henderson is the latest to announce his intention to forego the remainder of the 2020 season and enter his name into the 2021 NFL Draft process. Left tackle Donavaughn Campbell and wide receiver Adrian Hardy both entered their names in the Draft earlier this week. Henderson released a statement on his Twitter page, citing the uncertainty of if Tech will be able to play any more games as well as his own personal recovery from testing positive for COVID-19.

Henderson had a stellar junior campaign in 2019, rushing for more than 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns, but has struggled to get his feet under him in 2020. He started the year as the sure-fire starter at running back but as the season has progressed, the position went to more of a tandem approach with fellow back Israel Tucker. In seven games, the 5-10, 218-pound bruising back has 75 carries for 252 yards, averaging just 36 yards per game, and along with two scores. - Monroe News Star

For the second time this season, Louisiana Tech has lost its starting left tackle. Donavaughn Campbell announced Monday afternoon his intention to forego the remainder of his senior season and enter his name in the 2021 NFL Draft. Tech has three scheduled games left on its 2020 season, including the cancellation of its game against Louisiana-Monroe in Shreveport that was supposed to happen this weekend. Campbell, who was set to be the starting right guard for the Bulldogs after transferring from LSU as a graduate transfer last offseason, took over the left tackle position at the beginning on this year after former starter Willie Allen missed the first few games before opting out and transferring to Michigan in October. Skip Holtz has called Campbell "a special talent" and the 6-5, 353-pound lineman started six games at left tackle this season, the one game he missed he was out due to COVID-19 related issues. While he's played at tackle this season, the senior projects to play at guard in the NFL. - Monroe News Star

After some issues securing the football, Marcus Williams Jr. put together a flawless performance. The senior running back had 103 yards, a total that included his 48-yard touchdown on which he split through a big hole then shook off tackles. Williams had a 39-yard run against Arkansas State a week ago. What looked like a breakaway touchdown became a turnover as a defender knocked the ball loose from behind. And in the season opener against Charlotte on Sept. 12, Williams Jr. lost the ball on a run in front of the end zone. Clark said Williams refocused his efforts this week on protecting the football. "He had a great week of practice, and that's what I told him," Clark said. "I said you're not practicing like you have in the past and it's showing up on the field. And he came back and really busted his tail this week. "I'm so proud of the way he came back and responded." - Winston-Salem Journal

NOV 2 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Louisiana Tech sophomore DB Bee Jay Williamson had a career game in Louisiana Tech's 37-34 double-overtime victory over UAB, recording 10 tackles and intercepting a career-best two passes against the Blazers, returning one for 79 yards. Williamson's second interception came in the second quarter where he returned it for two yards before he lateraled the ball to senior defensive back Khalil Ladler who then ran it for an 81-yard touchdown. Williamson also recorded a crucial pass breakup on a UAB third down play late in the fourth quarter to force a Blazer punt. The Bulldogs tied the game on the next drive to force overtime. In the second overtime period, Williamson forced a fumble at the goal line that was then recovered by senior defensive back Zach Hannibal to give LA Tech possession and the chance to win the game on the next possession. - Conference USA Football

His 18 tackles tied for the seventh most in a single game nationally this season, while his 14 solo tackles rank second in the nation.   It may be time to anoint freshman Cedric Woods as a gamechanger. Matching up with some of the better wide receivers in C-USA in the first two league games, including UTEP's duo of senior Justin Garrett and sophomore Jacob Cowing, Woods held his own. Woods allowed four of six passes completed thrown his way but he prevented the big play from happening as UTEP had multiple drives where it could've taken the lead. Woods' interception was one of the clutch plays for the Bulldogs with 7:04 left. Hardison loaded up to take a deep shot with his team trailing 21-17, but the Carroll product went up and snatched the pass out of the air. "Cedric is loud with his play and I'm proud of the way he's stepped in. We signed (junior college) players, transfers, upperclassmen to come in and help with depth in our young secondary," Holtz said. "But it's been a freshman from Monroe that's wowed everybody." - Monroe News Star

Israel Tucker ran for two touchdowns, leading Louisiana Tech to a 21-17 victory over UTEP on Saturday night. Tucker had a 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and bulled into the end zone from the 1 that stretched the Bulldogs' lead to 21-10 with about 12 minutes remaining. On the ensuing kickoff, Duron Lowe ran untouched 100 yards into the end zone for UTEP (3-2, 0-1 Conference USA). The Miners forced a punt on fourth-and-8 with about six minutes left, but a roughing the kicker penalty gave the ball back to the Bulldogs, who then ran the clock down to 32 seconds. UTEP fumbled the ball on its own 14-yard line three plays later. Justin Henderson had a 14-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for Louisiana Tech (3-1, 2-0), which finished with just 210 yards of offense. - AP College Football
