Todd Centeio threw for four touchdowns and ran for one score Saturday as James Madison romped past No. 23 Coastal Carolina 47-7 in what it viewed as its postseason game. JMU (8-3, 6-2 Sun Belt) earned a technical share of the league's East Division title with the same conference record as the Chanticleers, but the Dukes are not eligible for a title under terms of their transition to the Bowl Subdivision. When the game ended, Queen's "We Are the Champions" blared through the stadium. The Chanticleers (9-2, 6-2) were the first visitor in the AP Top 25 to ever play at Bridgeforth Stadium, but did so without starting quarterback Grayson McCall. Their only score came on their second drive on Jarrett Guest's 34-yard pass to Tyson Mobley.

James Madison trailed 7-6 before Todd Centeio hit a wide open Reggie Brown for a 34-yard TD on its second drive of the second quarter to put the Dukes ahead. He then hit Devin Ravenel in the back of the end zone from 26 yards on the next drive. On the play, Ravenel made a dazzling catch over the top of the defender in very tight coverage. A 17-yard strike to Drew Painter just over two minutes into the third quarter and Latrele Palmer's 13-yard run made it 33-7 midway through the quarter, and an 8-yard pass to Ravenel with 16 seconds left in the quarter gave Centeio his fourth game with at least four touchdown passes this season. He added an 11-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. - James Madison/AP College Football

2022 NORTHEAST CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: DL Eric O'Neill, LIU,...O'Neill wasted little time in making his name known in the NEC loop as a disruptive force. He was a nightmare for opposing team's offenses, especially down the final stretch of the season. Averaging 5.6 tackles per game in league play, the 6-foot-3 redshirt freshman ended the campaign on an absolute tear with 33 of his 51 stops coming in last four games of the year. It's no coincidence that LIU went 4-0 in that stretch for a program-best third-place finish in the NEC standings. Recently named the Stat Perform FedEx Ground FCS National Freshman Player of the Week, O'Neill twice earned the NEC Defensive Player of the Week award.

His first honor came after he stuck 5.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks in the Sharks' first win of the season, a double-overtime takedown of Duquesne in late October. Stymying Sacred Heart's final drive and comeback bid with consecutive sacks in a 37-34 road win, the Staten Island native doubled his weekly award total this past Monday. The rookie made a career-best 14 hits, including 3.5 sacks and an NEC single-game season-high 5.5 tackles-for-loss. Overall, O'Neill's 21.0 tackles-for-loss and 10.0 sacks rank him second in the NEC. - NEC Football

NOV 21 CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eric O'Neill, Long Island, Defensive Back, R-Fr., 6-3, 240 lbs., Staten Island, NY/Paramus Catholic, Week 12 Stats: 14 tackles (9 solo), 5.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 1 FF,...O'Neill, a defensive end from Staten Island, NY, capped off a career day by delivering a pair of game-saving stops to help LIU extend its season-ending four-game winning streak to four with a 37-34 victory at Sacred Heart. The redshirt-freshman had sacks on consecutive plays in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter to stave off the Pioneers, who scored 24-unanswered to pull within three, on their final drive. Teaming up with Carson Binder to take down quarterback Cabe Pribula and the Pios' back to the Sharks' 47-yard line, O'Neill stuck another sack and forced a fumble on a Sacred Heart fourth down to seal the win. He also stopped a fourth-and-goal rush from the LIU one-yard line to turn the ball back to the Sharks' offense in the first quarter. He was a nightmare for Sacred Heart's offense, racking up 14 tackles, including nine solo. In addition, his 5.5 tackles for loss were the most in a game by an NEC player this season, while his 3.5 sacks marked the second-best performance in the circuit. - NEC Football
