  08/18/21 - Todd CenteiorSr/2023, James Madison, 5-11, 226 (DS#31 QB) + More +

If Heisman Trophies were won on promises, you can forget J.T. Daniels, Bryce Young and Spencer Rattler. That puppy is Todd Centeio's bust to lose, America. "I don't believe that I'm an impaired passer," Centeio, CSU's graduate quarterback, said Tuesday at the Rams' football media day. "I feel like I actually throw the ball better than I run the ball. And I truly believe that running the ball, I'm good at that as well." With that, he paused and grinned. Knowingly. "I can't wait to just show you guys this year," Centeio continued. "That's all I can say." We want to believe. Honest, we do. Coach Steve Addazio, who handed No. 7 the keys about this time a year ago, keeps doubling down on Team Todd's ceiling. The 'It' factor, Daz calls it. "Other players, they know when a guy either has that or they don't have that," Addazio said, "and Toddy has that." - Denver Post

  08/14/21 - Dylan MorrisrSr/2025, James Madison, 6-0, 202 (DS#34 QB) + More +

Dylan Morris is more than his measurables. The 6-foot, 200-pound passer from Puyallup is more than the testing numbers and statistics printed next to his name. He's more than his recruiting ranking. He's more than a purple jersey and a perpetually underrated right arm. On Friday, following UW's first fall practice, Jimmy Lake declared, "Dylan Morris is our starter." He'll take the opening snap Sept. 4 against Montana, while sixth-year senior Patrick O'Brien and five-star freshman Sam Huard watch from the sideline. There are multiple reasons why.

To begin, Morris - who threw for 897 yards with six total touchdowns and three interceptions in four starts last fall - is the starter because he's unrelentingly obsessed with personal improvement. He's constantly learning … and leading, too. "When you put that much time into something, and you work at it and it's important to you, guys know that," UW offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach John Donovan said. "You've got to be seen in the weight room. You've got to be seen in the film room. You've got to be seen studying. You've got to do the right thing. He does everything he's supposed to do. "I think guys will respond to him, because they respect him. When they see a guy doing what he's supposed to do when he's supposed to do it, and doing extra, you're going to listen to someone like that. He does have some great leadership ability." - Seattle Times

  08/11/21 - Dylan MorrisrSr/2025, James Madison, 6-0, 202 (DS#34 QB) + More +

Following Washington's first fall practice on Friday, head coach Jimmy Lake was asked when he'd like to decide on a starting quarterback. But for the most part, it sounds like he already has. "Well Dylan Morris is our starter. Dylan Morris is our starter, so it sounds solidified to me," Lake said. "Like I told you guys down in Los Angeles (for Pac-12 Media Days last week), everybody on our team who is a starter or a returning starter, if they decide to slip and not play as well and someone plays better than them - at corner, at left tackle, at center, at quarterback, at wide receiver, at linebacker, punter, kicker, every single position - if someone eventually plays better than them during training camp then they all have a chance to be replaced. "But I feel very confident in our quarterback position right now, and Dylan Morris is our starter. We have two guys behind him who are very, very talented, and I'm excited to see what they do."

Lake certainly provided more clarity on Friday than he did the previous fall, when the Huskies' first-year head coach declined to name a starter before Morris took the opening snap against Oregon State on Nov. 14. In an abbreviated four-game sprint, Morris - a 6-foot, 200-pounder from Puyallup - threw for 897 yards with six total touchdowns and three interceptions, leading UW to a 3-1 record and a Pac-12 North crown. Last spring, Morris took the vast majority of first-team reps, with graduate transfer Patrick O'Brien and five-star freshman Sam Huard working in behind him. O'Brien - a 6-5, 230-pound sixth-year senior - joined the program this offseason after throwing for 3,394 yards with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions in the last two seasons at Colorado State. - Seattle Times

Another Red Wolf is in the spotlight during Watch List Season. Arkansas State redshirt freshman Ryan Hanson is on the Ray Guy Award watch list. This accolade goes to the top punter in college football. Hanson averaged 40 yards per punt in the 2020 season. The Texas native had 4 punts of over 50 yards, including a 69 yard punt against UCA. - KAIT8.com

  04/05/21 - Todd CenteiorSr/2023, James Madison, 5-11, 226 (DS#31 QB) + More +

Centeio is the clear-cut starter, with only freshmen backing him up. The former Temple transfer won the starting job last season, too, but struggled in the first game and was replaced by Patrick O'Brien, who left over the winter for Washington as a graduate transfer. O'Brien is the only starter on either side of the ball from last season who didn't return this spring. Centeio is a better passer than he showed last season, when he completed just 14 of 36 passes with one touchdown and one interception, Addazio and McBride said. And he has some tremendous playmaking abilities, they said, that were on full display this spring. "He's an unbelievable player," McBride said Thursday. "...He throws a really good ball, he's really smart, he understands the game, and I'm thrilled that he's our quarterback." - Fort Collins Coloradoan

  02/26/21 - Todd CenteiorSr/2023, James Madison, 5-11, 226 (DS#31 QB) + More +

Colorado State football coach Steve Addazio made one thing clear as the Rams start spring practice this week: Todd Centeio is CSU's starting quarterback. "We have a definitive starter going into spring and that's Toddy," Addazio said Thursday during a virtual news conference. "We've got a group of young guys and a couple of guys who have been around. We want to really have a great spring to evaluate where they're at and then also elevate Toddy's game." Centeio is a Temple graduate transfer who arrived in Fort Collins last year with two seasons of eligibility left. He started in CSU's opener at Fresno State with mixed results - 10-of-23 passing for 141 yards, plus 80 yards rushing on 13 carries - in a 38-17 loss. Centeio was then supplanted as starter by Patrick O'Brien, since transferred to Washington, with Centeio entering CSU games twice in relief. - Denver Post
