  WEEK 5 OVC-BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Jacarre Fleming, RB, 5-8, 195, R-Fr., Hahira, Ga., Eastern Illinois,...Fleming accounted for 177 all-purpose yards as Eastern Illinois topped Western Illinois 31-23 for its first win in Macomb since 1990. The redshirt freshman carried the ball nine times for 111 yards (12.3 yards/carry) and two touchdowns, caught a pass for five yards and had three kickoff returns for 61 yards (20.3 yards per return). His first score came on a 55-yard run just before halftime to put the Panthers ahead 21-6 at the break.   Jacarre Fleming rushed for two touchdowns and Charles Kellom and Connor Wolf each found the end zone for Eastern Illinois as they beat in-state rival Western Illinois 31-23 in an OVC-Big South conference opener for both teams on Saturday. Fleming had 111 yards on nine carries, highlighted by a 55-yard and 33-yard touchdown. Kellom's rush was a 25-yard sprint up the middle to extend Eastern Illinois' (2-2) lead to 21. In addition to Wolf's rushing touchdown, he went four for 10 for 90 yards and had one interception.

Western Illinois (1-3) freshman Aa'zoriyon Bonner blocked a punt in the third quarter to set up the offense on Eastern Illinois' 10-yard line. Alex Williams caught the ball from quarterback Cason Carswell for his first touchdown of the game, an 8-yard reception. Williams' second touchdown came with 22 seconds left in the game, to make it 31-23. Carswell came in relief of starting quarterback Chris Irvin, who finished the first half going 11 for 20 with 84 yards. Irvin was sacked twice before he was pulled.   WEEK 3 OVC-BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Connor Wolf, QB, 6-3, 210, R-Fr., Ada, Mich., Eastern Illinois,...In his first collegiate start, Wolf completed 28-of-44 passes for an EIU freshman record 411 yards and four touchdowns in the Panthers home game with No. 4/7 Illinois State. He became just the fourth Eastern Illinois quarterback not named Garoppolo, Payton or Romo to pass for 400 yards in a game. He started the Panthers scoring with a 75-yard strike to CJ Nelson in the second quarter. Wolf added an 18-yard score early in the fourth quarter and then connected with Nelson again on a 51-yarder with 8:30 to play to trim the ISU margin to five points. His final touchdown came on a nine-yard pass with 1:47 to play. The 411 passing yards are the most by a Division I (FBS or FCS) freshman this season.   Quarterback Cole LaCrue rushed for 193 yards with three touchdowns, leading Eastern Illinois to a 24-14 victory over Dayton on Thursday night in the season opener for both teams. LaCrue added 179 yards passing, going 9-for-17, and the Panthers finished with 465 total yards. Charles Kellom added 133 yards and Eastern Illinois had a total of 336 yards on the ground on 62 attempts. After being held to three points in the first half, Eastern Illinois rolled up 275 yards and 21 points in the second half. On defense, the Panthers allowed nine first downs and held Dayton to 292 yards of total offense, 115 of which came on the Flyers' two long touchdowns.

LaCrue's 11-yard touchdown run gave the Panthers their first lead, 10-7 in the third quarter. Early in the fourth, the Panthers drove inside the red zone early, but Drake's Josh Williams recovered a fumble by Kellom at the 15-yard line. The Panthers drove again on their next possession with LaCrue's 47-yard pass to DeAirious Smith setting up LaCrue's 1-yard touchdown on the next play, giving Eastern Illinois a 17-7 lead. - AP College Football

  2022 ALL-OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM: LS - Jack Valente, Eastern Illinois,...Valente was a second team All-OVC selection at long snapper as EIU had some of the best field goal and punt teams in the OVC. Both EIU's field goal kicker and punter earned first team All-OVC honors. The field goal team was 11-of-13 on the season and perfect on extra points.   Pierce Holley threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns and Georgetown ended a six-game losing streak, beating Lafayette 30-20 on Saturday. The Hoyas (2-6, 1-3 Patriot League) built a 17-0 lead and never trailed. Lafayette (2-6, 1-2), now with a three-game skid, closed to within 17-14 when Ah-Shaun Davis threw a 5-yard score to Elijah Steward to reduce the deficit to 10 with 41 seconds before halftime. Jaden Sutton crashed in from the 2 to cut it to three with 10:38 left in the third, but the Hoyas extended the margin 24-14 seven minutes later when Herman Moultrie III ran it from 3 yards out. The one-play drive was set up when Wedner Cadet picked off Davis and ran it back 26 yards to the Leopards' 3. Joshua Tomas has 139 receiving yards on 12 receptions with a touchdown for Georgetown.   OCT 17 OVC FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alexandar Oyawale, LB, 6-0, 220, Jr., Murrieta, Calif., Eastern Illinois,...Oyawale tallied five tackles (four solo), a sack, two quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and also recovered a fumble that he returned 40 yards for a touchdown in the Panthers double overtime game with Lindenwood. He was part of a defense that forced four turnovers and had five total sacks against the Lions. Midway through the fourth quarter he scooped up a fumble and raced 40 yards for the score to put Eastern Illinois ahead 24-17.   SEPT 5 OVC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK: Stone Galloway, K, 5-11, 210, Jr., Collinsville, Ill., Eastern Illinois,...Galloway accounted for nine of the Panthers 27 points in the season opener against defending MAC champions Northern Illinois. Galloway connected from 34 yards at the end of the first quarter and 25 yards right before halftime to make the score 21-6. The Panthers would later cut the margin to 34-27. Galloway has now made six-straight field goals dating back to last season. He was also perfect on PATs (3-for-3) to finish with nine total point.   Dom Shoffner threw for a touchdown and ran for two more scores, Kendi Young had 160 yards rushing and a TD on just eight carries and Eastern Illinois beat Murray State 35-21 Saturday night. Eastern Illinois (1-3) snapped a nine-game losing streak that began with a 22-6 loss at Murray State on Oct. 2. Shoffner was 5-of-14 passing for 74 yards - including a 2-yard touchdown pass to Justin Thomas - and added 17 carries for 88 yards. Young scored on a 36-yard run that made it 24-14 going into halftime and Eastern Illinois led the rest of the way. Jaden Stinson completed 28 of 46 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns but threw four interceptions for Murray State (0-4). - AP College Football
