  Taylor Powell threw three touchdown passes - two of them in a pivotal third quarter - and ran for a score as Eastern Michigan rolled to a 38-19 victory over Central Michigan on Friday. Eastern Michigan (8-4, 5-3 Mid-American Conference) posted eight wins for the first time since 1987. Chris Creighton became the first coach to post four seven-win seasons in EMU history. Creighton's Eagles have qualified for a bowl game in four straight seasons and five of the last six. EMU played in one bowl game before his arrival. EMU, which closed out the regular season with three straight wins, will share the MAC West Division title with Toledo after Western Michigan upset the Rockets 20-14 on Friday. Toledo handed the Eagles their last loss in late October, 27-24. Powell threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Knue to open the scoring. Samson Evans 15-yard scoring run gave the Eagles a 14-7 lead after one quarter. Evans set an Eagles record with the 27th rushing touchdown of his career.

Freshman Bert Emanuel Jr.'s second touchdown run - a 35-yarder - pulled Central Michigan (4-8, 3-5) within 14-13 at halftime. Powell connected with Andreas Paaske for a 9-yard score midway through the third quarter to up the Eagles lead to 21-13. Powell gave EMU a two-score lead with 21-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Drummond on the final play of the quarter. Powell scored on an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter. Powell completed 24 of 36 passes for 266 yards for Eastern Michigan. Evans rushed 23 times for 135 yards. Emanuel finished with 75 yards on 16 carries, scoring all three of the Chippewas' touchdowns. The Eagles beat Western Michigan and CMU this season to take outright possession of the Michigan MAC Trophy for the first time since 2012.   NOV 21 MAC WEST DIVISION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan, Defensive End, Senior, Lake Alfred, Fla.-Auburndale,...Defensive end Jose Ramirez was outstanding in EMU's game against Kent State, Nov. 16. He finished with a team-high seven tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss. His TFL total is his second-best of the season, just behind the four he registered at WMU, Oct. 8. Ramirez has 17.5 sacks in his career, which ties for fourth all-time in program history. Additionally, the 3.5 TFLs Ramirez recorded against Kent State moved him up to 31.0 TFLs in his career, moving him to No. 7 all-time at EMU.   2022 ALL-GLIAC FIRST TEAM: OL Blake Bustard, Wayne State, R-So.,...Bustard started at right tackle in all 10 games (first career start was at Slippery Rock) and played every offensive snap in seven contests. He helped the Warriors rank fourth in the GLIAC in both rushing yards per game (163.1) and rushing touchdowns (21). He saw action with the PAT/FG unit in all 10 contests.   Taylor Powell threw three touchdown passes - two to Tanner Knue in the second half - and Eastern Michigan rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat Kent State 31-24 Wednesday night. Powell completed 30 of 39 passes for 315 yards and Knue finished with five receptions for 77 yards. Samson Evans ran for 94 yards on 33 carries and his 1-yard touchdown run with 3:51 to play capped an 11-play, 77-yard drive and gave Eastern Michigan (7-4, 4-3 Mid-American Conference) a 31-17 lead.

EMU's Hassan Beydoun scored on a 13-yard strike from Powell to open the scoring with 5:16 left in the first quarter but Kent State (4-7, 3-4) answered about 2 minutes later when Collin Schlee threw a 39-yard TD pass to Ja'Shaun Poke. Andrew Glass kicked a 36-yard field goal early in second quarter and Marquez Cooper's 1-yard scoring run gave the Golden Flashes a 17-7 halftime lead. Knue caught a 39-yard TD pass early in the third quarter, Jesus Gomez added a 33-yard field goal to make it 17-all going into the fourth before Knue's second touchdown, an 11-yard reception, gave the Eagles the lead for good with 10:46 remaining. Poke finished with six receptions for 105 yards and Devontez Walker added 125 yards receiving for Kent State.   Austin Smith and Samson Evans each accounted for a pair of touchdowns and Eastern Michigan became bowl eligible with a 34-28 victory over Akron on Tuesday night. Eastern Michigan (6-4, 3-3 Mid-American Conference) secured its fifth bowl appearance in six seasons and the program's seventh overall. Smith threw a touchdown pass in each half. Evans had a 9-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and broke loose for a 23-yard score early in the third to give the Eagles a 31-14 lead. Smith was 16-of-28 passing for 190 yards and Evans had 133 yards rushing on 24 carries.

Dylan Drummond had five receptions for 90 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown catch. Jesus Gomez's 43-yard field goal for the Eagles capped the scoring. Cam Wiley got Akron close, running for 11-and 56-yard touchdowns early in the fourth quarter to pull to 31-28. Wiley finished with 18 carries for 144 yards. He also had a 1-yard score in the second quarter.   OCT 31 MAC WEST DIVISION SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mitchell Tomasek, Eastern Michigan, Punter, Sophomore, Columbus, Ohio (Worthington Kilbourne),...Sophomore punter Mitchell Tomasek had another strong outing for Eastern Michigan against Toledo. With five punts on the afternoon, the Columbus-native tallied a total of 205 yards, averaging a total of 41 yards per punt and upping his season total to 45.4 yards per punt. The season average number is first in the MAC by 1.7 yards. Tomasek is trying to keep the trend of an Eastern Michigan player leading the MAC in yards per punt, since Jake Julien led the league in this category from 2019-21.   Austin Smith scored the go-ahead touchdown on a quarterback keeper midway through the fourth quarter after a big interception by Robert Daniel Jr. and Eastern Michigan held on for a 20-16 victory over Ball State on Saturday. Smith's game-winning 2-yard run came four plays after Daniel intercepted a John Paddock pass, giving Eastern Michigan (5-3, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) a first-and-10 at the Ball State 28-yard line. Paddock staked Ball State (4-4, 2-2) to a 7-0 lead 4 seconds into the second quarter when he connected with Carson Steele for an 8-yard touchdown.

The Eagles answered with Bryson Moss' 4-yard scoring run and a career-long 55-yard field goal by freshman Jesus Gomez on the final play of the quarter to grab a 10-7 lead at halftime. Ben VonGunten knotted the score at 10 with a 24-yard field goal. Paddock followed with an 18-yard touchdown toss to freshman Brady Hunt, but the Cardinals' lead remained 16-10 heading to the final quarter after VonGunten's point-after kick was blocked. Gomez added a 38-yard field goal to pull the Eagles within 16-13 with 11:04 left to play. Smith's winning score came with 7:23 remaining. Smith completed 19 of 33 passes for 193 yards for Eastern Michigan. He also led the team with 52 rushing yards on 19 carries. Hassan Beydoun had 10 catches for 85 yards.   Cole Snyder ran for one touchdown and threw for another as Buffalo scored 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to come from behind to beat Toledo, 34-27 and go to 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference on Saturday. Toledo held Buffalo without an offensive touchdown in the first half, led 20-7 at intermission and pushed its lead to 27-10 midway through the third quarter. Buffalo's defense provided the spark for the Bulls' comeback. Keyshawn Cobb forced a fumble and Jahmin Muse scooped up the high bounce and scored on a 72-yard run to get Buffalo on the board in the first half. Marcus Fuqua had three of the team's four interceptions on Toledo quarterback Dequan Finn and the defense forced the Rockets into three fumbles, recovering two, including a key fumble in the third quarter when Isaiah King ran down Jacquez Stuart in the open field, stripped the ball and recovered it to help jump start the comeback.

Snyder scored from five yards out with 13:13 left in the game, then found Jamari Gassett in the open field and he juked past his defender to score on a 32-yard run to cut the Toledo lead to 27-24 with 9:35 left. Ron Cook broke free 90 seconds later for a 30-yard touchdown to give Buffalo the lead. Alex McNulty kicked field goals from 40- and 42-yards out for the Bulls (5-3, 4-0). Snyder was 22 of 39 passing for 245 yards and Cook finished with 118 yards on 18 carries. Finn was 25 of 47 for 249 yards and a touchdown to go with his four interceptions and ran for two touchdowns for the Rockets (5-3, 3-1).   Cole Snyder threw for three scores and Buffalo broke it open with three touchdowns in the second quarter en route to a 34-7 win over UMass on Saturday. Buffalo (4-3) posted its fourth straight win and third straight road win. Snyder threw a 4-yard touchdown to Quian Williams four seconds into the second quarter to complete a seven-play, 80-yard drive and a 10-0 lead. After UMass went four-and-out, Al-Jay Henderson raced 84-yards through the middle of the Minutemen line for a 17-0 advantage.

UMass got on the board when Ellis Merriweather ran it from the 5 capping a 10-play, 75-yard drive. On Buffalo's ensuing drive, the Bulls sealed it when Snyder threw a 49-yard scoring pass to Justin Marshall with five minutes left before halftime. Kay'Ron Adams ran for 11 yards on 65 carries for UMass (1-6). It was the first meeting between the teams since 2015 when UMass was a member of the Mid-American Conference. The win for the Eagles (4-2, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) was their fourth straight in the series and follows a five-game string by the Broncos (2-4, 1-1), the longest in the 57-game series. Samson opened the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run and then Powell hit Dylan Drummond with a 2-yard pass to cap an 11-play, 88-yard drive and a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Samson added TD runs of 1 and 6 yards in the second quarter. Powell found Darius Lassiter for 38 yards in the second, for a 35-7 halftime lead, and Hassan Beydoun in the third. Ramirez had four of the seven sacks by the defense, which held Western to 91 yards on the ground, just one more yard than Samson had. Powell as 20 of 30 for 293 yards and Lassiter, a junior college transfer, had his first 100-yard game, getting 104 on six catches. Snyder's pass to Marshall capped a 13-play, 82-yard drive for Buffalo (2-3, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) that took 3:51 off the clock. Miami (2-3) made it to the Buffalo 46-yard line before turning the ball over on downs with 3 seconds left in its MAC opener. Mike Washington's 1-yard touchdown plunge gave Buffalo a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Three scrimmage plays later Aveon Smith scored on a 73-yard run to pull the RedHawks even.

Buffalo took a 14-7 lead on Cole Snyder's 1-yard touchdown run following an interception by Jahmin Muse and a 51-yard return. Graham Nicholson's 35-yard field goal pulled Miami within 14-10 at halftime. Alex McNulty's 43-yard field goal stretched the Bulls' lead to 17-10, but Aveon Smith scored on a 3-yard run and Nicholson added another field goal to give the RedHawks a 20-17 lead after three quarters. Snyder completed 19 of 35 passes for 188 yards with one interception for Buffalo. The Bulls managed just 278 yards of offense, while yielding 359.   Cole Snyder threw for two touchdowns, ran for two more and Buffalo beat Eastern Michigan 50-31 on Saturday. The teams combined to score on the first 10 possessions, the 10th a Buffalo touchdown for a 37-31 lead in the third quarter when Snyder found Jamari Gassett alone down the left sideline for a 65-yard play. The first punt came after that, and though Mitchell Tomasek's kick left Buffalo at its 1, the Bulls drove for an Alex McNulty field goal. They added another to lead 43-32 after EMU (2-2, 0-1 Mid-American Conference) turned the ball over on downs. The Bulls scored on their first nine possessions.

The Bulls (1-3, 1-0) avoided their first 0-4 start since 2005 and snapped a seven-game losing streak. Snyder, a transfer from Rutgers, was 19-of-28 passing for 291 yards. Quian Williams had 93 yards receiving and a score. Mike Washington ran for two TDs. EMU's Austin Smith, who took over for injured Taylor Powell in last week's 30-21 win over Arizona State, made his first career start and passed for a TD and ran for another.
