  Katin Houser threw a go-ahead touchdown pass to Payton Mangrum with 68 seconds remaining and East Carolina rallied to beat Memphis 31-27 on Saturday. Houser drove East Carolina (7-3, 5-1 American Conference) 75 yards in six plays, connecting with Mangrum for a 31-yard touchdown. Houser completed 23 of 34 passes for 332 yards. Ayden Duncanson and Josh Benton stuffed Frank Peasant on a fourth-and-1 run and the Pirates took over at their own 18 with 5:49 left to play. Four plays later Everett Roussaw Jr. forced a Houser fumble and Pooda Walker recovered at the East Carolina 24. The Tigers turned it into a 30-yard field goal by Gianni Spetic for a 27-24 lead with 2:29 remaining. East Carolina took a 7-0 lead on its second possession when London Montgomery scored on a 1-yard run.

Memphis (8-3, 4-3) pulled even early in the second quarter on Brendon Lewis' 5-yard touchdown pass to Matt Adcock on fourth-and-3. Memphis took its first lead after Sutton Smith raced 84 yards for a score on a first-down run. Nick Mazzie and Spetic traded field goals over the final 2:19 and the Tigers led 17-10 at halftime. Houser scored on a 1-yard run to tie it 17-all just three minutes into the third quarter. Lewis gave Memphis a 24-17 lead on a 7-yard touchdown run, but Montgomery raced 23 yards for a score to tie it after three quarters. Montgomery finished with 103 yards on 27 carries.   Katin Houser threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns, added 26 yards and two more scores on the ground, and East Carolina took down Charlotte, 48-22 on Saturday. The Pirates (6-3, 4-1 American Conference) rode a 21-point first quarter to the win, never trailing in the contest. They led 35-14 at halftime, and added another touchdown and two field goals in the second half to cruise to a comfortable win. London Montgomery ran for 85 yards and a score on 11 carries. Anthony Smith and Yannick Smith each caught touchdown passes, and combined for 14 catches for 128 yards. Charlotte (1-8, 0-6) was led by Grayson Loftis, who threw for 279 yards (20-of-31 passing), three touchdowns, and one interception.   Katin Houser threw two touchdown passes and East Carolina scored the final 31 points in a 45-14 romp over Temple on Saturday. Houser tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Yannick Smith on the seventh play from scrimmage for a 7-0 lead. Ja'Marley Riddle picked off Evan Simon three plays after Pooh Lawton intercepted a Houser pass, and Anthony Smith scored on a first-play 45-yard run to put East Carolina (5-3, 3-1 American Athletic Conference) up 14-0. Jamere Jones forced and recovered a fumble by TJ Engleman Jr. to give Temple (5-4, 3-2) the ball on the East Carolina 27-yard line. Jay Ducker scored on a 4-yard run four plays later to cut it to 14-7 after one quarter.

Keveun Mason scored on a 29-yard run early in the second quarter to tie it, but Mike Wright Jr. scored on a 15-yard run and Houser and Yannick Smith teamed up for a 59-yard score and a 28-14 halftime advantage. London Montgomery ran 19 yards for a score and Marlon Gunn Jr. ran it in from a yard out for a 42-14 lead heading to the final quarter. The Pirates finished with 358 yards on 51 rushes with 11 different players contributing. Montgomery led the way with 84 yards on 14 totes. Nick Mazzie's 46-yard field goal capped the scoring. Houser completed 19 of 24 passes for 256 yards with an interception. Simon had 80 yards and a pick on 11-for-20 passing for the Owls.   Katin Houser passed for 300 yards and two touchdowns, London Montgomery rushed for 125 yards and a score, and East Carolina beat Tulsa 41-27 on Thursday night. ECU took a 31-14 lead on its first possession of the second half when Montgomery ran for a 51-yard touchdown. Tulsa scored the next 10 points to get within 31-24. Seth Morgan made a 46-yard field goal and Stephen Kittleman capped an eight-play, 65-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. ECU went 61 yards on its next drive before settling for a 32-yard field goal to make it 34-24 with 10:51 left. Then the Pirates stopped Tulsa on fourth-and-15 near midfield when Rion Roseborough sacked Baylor Hayes. Houser put ECU ahead 41-24 on a 2-yard run. Marlon Gunn Jr. added 60 yards rushing and a score for ECU (4-3, 2-1 American Conference). Hayes was 23 of 41 for 251 yards and two scores for Tulsa (2-5, 0-4), which was coming off a 45-7 loss at Memphis. Brody Foley caught six passes for 126 yards and a score. ECU led 24-14 at halftime.   Katin Houser passed for 251 yards and two touchdowns, and East Carolina opened American Conference play with a 28-6 victory over defending league champion Army on Thursday night. East Carolina (3-2, 1-0 American) has won nine of the 10 meetings with Army, with a road setback last season. Houser threw for two touchdowns and ran for another - all in the first quarter for a 21-0 lead. Anthony Smith had a catch of 40 yards or more on ECU's opening two drives, the second giving the Pirates a 14-0 lead. Houser connected with Jayvontay Conner for a 20-yard touchdown with 39 seconds left in the first quarter. ECU's touchdown in the second half came when backup holder Kyler Pearson ran for a 32-yard touchdown on a fake field goal to cap the scoring.

Noah Short rushed for 127 yards on just 11 carries for Army (1-3, 0-2), which gained for over 100 yards on the ground for the 34th straight game. Quarterback Dewayne Coleman added 51 yards rushing, including a 2-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Army had just five first downs and 128 total yards in the first half. It was the first time the Black Knights had been shutout in the first half since 2023 against LSU. Last season, Army defeated East Carolina 45-28 behind quarterback Bryson Daily's six touchdowns (five rushing, one passing), marking the first six-touchdown game by a Black Knight since 1916. - East Carolina/AP College Football

  Katin Houser had 293 passing yards and two touchdowns as East Carolina routed Coastal Carolina, 38-0 on Saturday night. The Pirates (2-1) have allowed three points across their last two games under first-year defensive coordinator Josh Aldridge. ECU's defense had five sacks and nine tackles for loss. A 17-0 lead through three quarters became a blowout in the fourth, with two straight Coastal turnovers that became three straight touchdown drives and brought the clock under four minutes.

The Chanticleers (1-2) had five turnovers on the night, with 14 total points off turnovers for the Pirates. Parker Jenkins, Mike Wright Jr., and TJ Engleman Jr. each had over 30 rushing yards and scored a touchdown. London Montgomery led with 59 yards on 15 carries. Anthony Smith hauled in 11 receptions for 136 yards, and Yannick Smith had two touchdown grabs. Tad Hudson was 19-for-39 with 172 yards and two interceptions for the Chanticleers.
