  2019 ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): WR Kellon Taylor, Duquesne, Sr.,...Taylor collects his first all-conference nod after pacing the Dukes with 53 receptions for 558 yards and five touchdowns. The 6-5, 220-pound receiver posted back-to-back 100-yard receiving performances against Saint Francis and at Robert Morris, hauling in eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Red Flash followed by a six-catch, career-best 113-yard showing with a touchdown on the road against the Colonials.   2019 ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): RB Mark Allen, Duquesne, Sr.,...Allen collects his first all-conference honor in his first season on The Bluff. The Penn State graduate transfer ranked second in the NEC and 32nd in the FCS averaging 119.4 all-purpose yards per game. He tallied 689 rushing yards with four rushing touchdowns, 15 receptions for 129 yards, 17 punt returns for 185 yards and a touchdown as well as eight kick returns for 191 yards. Allen registered a career-high 168 rushing yards on 30 carries with a pair of touchdowns to lead the Dukes to a big road win at Dayton this season, a performance which secured him NEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. In Duquesne's win over Wagner, Allen returned a punt 65 yards to pay dirt and was named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week. - Duquesne Football

  2019 ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): RB AJ Hines, Duquesne, Sr.,...Hines is the fourth Duquesne player to earn All-NEC laurels all four years of his career, joining Ben Huss and Nathan Stone. The 2016 Jerry Rice Award winner caps his career as the program's all-time leading rusher with 4,629 rushing yards. He is also the program's leader in rushing touchdowns (44) as well as career 100-yard rushing games (25). Hines rushed for 780 yards in nine games for the Dukes in 2019, 640 of those coming in NEC play, good for second in the conference. The Boise State transfer finished with 36 tackles on the year with 29 solo stops, good for fourth on the team to go with a tackle for loss. A big reason why the Dukes closed the year ranked seventh at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in pass defense, Harrison-Ducros registered nine passes defended on the season.   Daniel Parr threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score and Duquesne cashed in on a turnover to beat St. Francis (Pa.) 30-21 on Saturday to remain undefeated in Northeast Conference play. The win was coach Jerry Schmitt's 98th, the most in program history. Parr's 15-yard pass to Kellon Taylor tied it at 7 and Mitch MacZura's go-ahead 28-yard field goal put the Dukes (6-2, 4-0) up for good. Brendan Thompson forced and recovered a fumble that led to Parr's 2-yard run for a 17-7 lead and his 16-yard TD pass to Kareem Coles Jr. made it 27-21 in the third quarter.

The Red Flash drove to the Dukes' 37 in the fourth, but Harvey Clayton Jr. picked off Jason Brown's fourth-down desperation heave at the goal line. The Dukes stopped St. Francis's final drive on downs to seal it. Parr was 16 of 31 for 203 yards and Taylor caught eight passes for 101 yards. Brown threw three TD passes for the Red Flash (4-5, 2-3), two to Ra'Shaun Henry and a 7-yarder to EJ Jenkins. Brown was 20 of 38 for 278 yards and Henry caught 11 passes for 183 yards. - AP College Football

  OCT 28 NEC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: MARK ALLEN, DUQUESNE, RB, Sr., 5-7, 185 lbs., Hyattsville, MD/Penn State,...WEEK 9 Stats: 2 punt returns, 75 PR yards, 65-yard PR TD,...Allen became the first NEC athlete to return a punt to paydirt this season. The graduate transfer running back, who scored on a two-yard rush early in the second half, found the end zone again in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. He fielded a 47-yard punt on the far hash mark at his own 35-yard line and worked his way to the near sideline before turning on the burners. Allen's 65-yard punt return gave the Dukes a 28-14 advantage with 14:36 remaining. Allen, who made two fair catches earlier in the contest, added a 10-yard punt return from his own 9-yard line with 4:04 left on the clock. - NEC Football

  Mark Allen returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown 24 seconds into the fourth quarter and Duquesne held on for a 28-24 victory over Wagner on Saturday. After a scoreless first quarter, Wagner built a 14-0 lead halfway through the second when Christian Alexander-Stevens capped back-to-back drives with scoring runs of 16 and 9 yards, respectively. Duquesne (5-2, 3-0 Northeast Conference) responded with two touchdowns in the final 1:55 of the quarter. Daniel Parr capped an 11-play, 69-yard drive with a 16-yard TD toss to Davie Henderson on third-and-13. The Dukes' Jake Dixon forced Myron Morris to fumble on the ensuing kickoff and Connor Barrett recovered at Wagner's 24-yard line. Duquesne used 10 plays to score with A.J. Hines running it in from 1-yard.

Duquesne opened the third quarter with an eight-play, 77-yard drive that ended with Allen's 2-yard TD run for a 21-14 lead. Allen followed with his punt return for a two-score lead. Alexander-Stevens' third rushing TD pulled the Seahawks (1-7, 1-2) within 28-21 with 12:40 remaining. Eric Silvester's 32-yard field goal reduced the deficit to four with 7:47 left. Mason Williams ended it when he picked off Alexander-Stevens with 1:41 left. Hines finished with 113 yards on 26 carries for Duquesne, which amassed 218 yards on the ground but just 72 through the air.   OCT 21 NEC CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: REID HARRISON-DUCROS, DUQUESNE, CB, Sr., 5-10, 185 lbs., Colleyville, TX/Boise State,...WEEK 8 Stats: 3 total tackles, 2 INT, Pass break-up,...Harrison-Ducros intercepted the NEC's leading passer twice during Duquesne's 20-6 road win over Sacred Heart. With the Dukes' defense limiting SHU to its lowest point total of the season, Harrison-Ducros totaled three tackles and added a PBU. The veteran cornerback and his fellow Dukes became the first unit to hold an opponent under 100 yards passing in a NEC game this season.

Setting the tone early, Harrison-Ducros made three straight first-quarter plays capped by an interception. First, he stopped a wide receiver rush after a short three-yard gain. On second down, he broke up a well-timed slant pass. Then, he picked off an errant throw at the SHU 49 and set the Dukes up with a 1st-and-10 in plus territory.   Daniel Parr threw a pair of five-yard touchdown passes and Mitch Maczura kicked a pair of field goals as Duquesne stopped Sacred Heart, 20-6, Saturday in a battle of last year's Northeastern Conference co-champions. The Dukes (4-2, 2-0) came into the game with the 13th-ranked defense in the Football Championship Subdivision, limiting opponents to just 317.2 yards per game. They held the Pioneers to 233 yards of total offense and allowed them just 10 first downs.

Parr completed 15 of his 26 pass attempts for 149 yards, hitting Kellon Taylor to cap a 13-play, 83-yard drive, then finding Dontay Mayfield to cap an eight-play, 81-yard drive just before halftime to put the Dukes up, 17-0. A.J. Hines carried the load on offense for the Dukes, carrying 29 times for 142 yards. Defensively Duquesne limited Sacred Heart to just 84 passing yards and picked off Logan Marchi three times. Sacred Heart (3-4, 1-2) got on the board in third quarter when Julius Chestnut brook loose for a 61-yard touchdown run. Chestnut finished with 128 yards on 20 carries. - AP College Football

  OCT 7 NEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: DAIVON ELLISON, DUQUESNE, DB, Sr., 5-8, 175 lbs., Linden, NJ/Syracuse,...WEEK 6 Stats: 4 total tackles, 1.5 TFL, 2 INT, FR...Ellison secured a trio of takeaways during Duquesne's triumphant NEC opener against LIU. The senior safety also totaled four tackles, including 1.5 TFL, for a defensive effort that held LIU scoreless over its first eight possessions. Ellison came up with his first interception early in the second quarter when he picked off a third-down pass at the LIU 46-yard line.

He took the ball away from LIU again late in the first half, denying the Sharks on a 3rd-and-goal play from the 2-yard line. After Todd Hill's strip sack jarred the ball free, Ellison scooped it at the 15-yard line and returned it 21 yards up to the Duquesne 36. Ellison's second interception ended LIU's first possession of the second half, giving the Dukes a first down at their own 33-yard line.   A.J. Hines rushed for 140 yards with a touchdown and twice converted first downs on third-and-short in the final minutes to preserve Duquesne's 21-14 victory over Long Island University in the first meeting of the two teams Saturday. Duquesne (3-2, 1-0 Northeast Conference) took its first possession 74 yards in nine plays and got on the board with Mark Allen's 20-yard scoring run. Hines added a late touchdown, scoring from the 1 as the Dukes led 21-7 early in the fourth quarter.

Long Island (0-4, 0-3), which is Joining the NEC and moving up from Division-II, marched 74 yards in 14 plays and made it a one-score game with 3:55 remaining when Clay Beathard found Steven Chambers crossing the front of the end zone. The Dukes, aided by Hines' two first-down conversions, ran out the clock. Beathard completed 15 of 24 passes for 221 yards but was intercepted twice. The graduate transfer gained 201 yards from scrimmage and scored two go-ahead touchdowns in a 35-31 road win. Spoiling the home opener for 2-0 Dayton, Allen rushed 30 times for 168 yards and logged 33 yards on two receptions.

The former Penn State undergraduate went for 43 yards during the game's opening possession, which ended on a touchdown pass from Daniel Parr to Kellon Taylor. Allen's first touchdown, an one-yard play, capped a 65-yard drive and broke a 7-7 tie with 1:08 remaining in the opening quarter. He accounted for a 17-yard burst into the red zone on the Dukes' first drive of the second half. Allen was a workhorse on the fourth-quarter drive that gave Duquesne the lead for good. The veteran ball carrier rushed seven times for 38 yards, ending with a one-yard touchdown plunge that put the Dukes in front, 35-31, with 7:13 to play. - Northeast Conference Football

  Mark Allen capped a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a 1-yard dive to lift Duquesne past Dayton, 35-31 in a nonconference contest Saturday afternoon. The Dukes (2-1) won their fourth straight over the Flyers and split back-to-back games in Ohio, falling to Youngstown State, 34-14 last week. They continue their three-game road trip next week at New Hampshire. The game was the home opener for Dayton (2-1). The teams were tied, 21-21 at intermission and Dayton took the lead on a 97-yard kick-off return by Jake Chisholm to open the second half. Less than three minutes later Daniel Parr got Duquesne even once more with a 3-yard run for a touchdown.

Sam Webster put the Flyers back in front with a 32-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. The Dukes regained the lead on Allen's TD plunge and Dayton's 11-play answering drive stalled at the Duquesne 31 with 1:49 left and the Flyers turned the ball over on downs. Parr completed 18 of 22 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a third. Allen finished with 30 carries for 168 yards and two 1-yard touchdowns. Jack Cook was 19 of 27 for Dayton and threw three touchdown passes and one interception. - AP College Football
