Darius Perrantes passed for one touchdown and ran for another, the Duquesne defense stopped a two-point conversion attempt with less than 10 seconds remaining and the FCS Dukes defeated Ohio 28-26 on Saturday. It was Duquesne's first victory over an FBS opponent in program history. After Duquesne (1-1) built a 28-20 lead on Brian Bruzdewicz's 27-yard field goal with two minutes, 46 seconds remaining, Ohio (0-2) drove 67 yards, capped by a 3-yard touchdown pass from Kurtis Rourke to Ty Walton with nine seconds remaining. Rourke's two-point pass was broken up by Tim Lowery.

Bruzdewicz kicked four field goals and the Dukes also scored on a safety. Perrantes completed 23 of 34 passes for 194 yards. His passing touchdown was a 3-yard hookup with Joey Isabella, giving the Dukes a 25-13 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter. Ohio responded with a 10-play, 71-yard drive that ended with a 2-yard touchdown run by Rourke. He also completed 14 of 22 passes for 168 yards. The Dukes took 7:59 off the clock with a drive that ended with Bruzdewicz's fourth field goal (in four tries) and their eight-point lead. Ohio's De'Montre Tuggle returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown and his 15-yard touchdown run finished off Ohio's first offensive possession for a 13-3 lead early in the first quarter. - AP College Football

Ohio transfer Joe Mischler threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score as Duquesne began its spring season with a 30-27 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. Duquesne went ahead 27-12 with 1:03 left in the third on Mischler's 12-yard pass to Garrett Owens. SHU's Marquez McCray and Julius Chestnut connected on two fourth-quarter touchdowns, but the last came with 15 seconds remaining and the Dukes recovered the onside kick. Mischler was 18-of-26 passing for 231 yards and he carried it eight times for 63 yards. Owens added 109 yards on the ground, and Bri Bruzdewicz kicked field goals of 20, 33 and 31 yards. McCray passed for 169 yards and two touchdowns for Sacred Heart. Chestnut carried it 22 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns, and he caught two passes for 41 yards and two more scores. Kansas State football's transfer number keeps ticking upward. Wykeen Gill became the latest Wildcat in the transfer portal Monday - and the second of the day, following defensive back Lance Robinson's announcement in the morning. With Gill's name now in the transfer portal, K-State has 12 players who have transferred since August. A senior from Atchison, Gill suffered a season-ending arm injury against Texas Tech on Oct. 3. He missed the final seven games of the Wildcats' regular season. Gill was listed as one of K-State's first-team receivers for each of the first three games this year, though he only ended up starting against Oklahoma. That come-from-behind road win over the Sooners was responsible for all of Gill's 2020 stats: three receptions for 9 yards. - Manhattan Mercury

Klieman said offensive lineman Cooper Beebe, who also left last week's game with an injury, is "day to day." The news wasn't as fortunate for Wykeen Gill. A senior from Atchison, Gill walked straight to the locker room following an injury in the third quarter. He won't play another down this fall. "Wykeen is the one who did suffer an injury to his arm and he'll be lost for the season," Klieman said. "So disappointed for Wykeen, because he's been doing some special things." Listed as a starting wideout for each of K-State's first three games, the team now will have to turn elsewhere for production. They don't lack for candidates, with Klieman mentioning Phillip Brooks, Keenan Garber, Seth Porter and Landry Weber as potential replacements. Not that it makes Gill's loss any easier to stomach. "It's unfortunate for Wykeen," Klieman said, "because he's such a great kid and a great player." - Manhattan Mercury

Once among the state's top high school quarterbacks, Parr played three years at FAU before thriving at Duquesne University, an FCS school in Pennsylvania, the last two seasons. The result, Parr told The Post, was a "roller-coaster" ride that he'll forever appreciate as he prepares for April's NFL Draft. "I wouldn't trade a thing for the world," Parr said. "I learned so many lessons and met so many great people and had so many great experiences that taught me a lot. I'm grateful for everything - the good things and the bad things." Ahead of the NFL Draft, which is April 23-25, Parr has been training with Benjamin head coach, and former NFL quarterback, Eric Kresser.

Parr's pro day is March 19 at the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice complex. Fittingly, Parr is a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan who often occasionally donned a Steelers hat in interviews. If a professional playing career doesn't work out, Parr has his eyes set on coaching high school football. His father, Paul, has coached for several local programs. Parr said he was "inspired" by former Dwyer head coach Jack Daniels. "Looking at all the kids he's helped, he's taken kids that probably never would have went to college if it wasn't for football," Parr explained. "Giving those kids an opportunity to get a college degree, it's something that I might want to do in the future." - Palm Beach Post
