For the first time in the history of the Pioneer Football League, a tight end has earned the league's Offensive Player of the Year with Dayton senior tight end Adam Trautman earning the 2019 honor. Moreover, for the fourth time in the last six seasons, a Stetson student-athlete has been named the league's Defensive Player of the Year with redshirt senior defensive back Colby Duncan earning that award this season. That pair highlight the league's 2019 Major Award recipients, presented Monday. Redshirt junior punter Tanner Kuljian and head coach Dale Lindsey represented 2019 PFL regular-season champion San Diego, receiving the PFL's Special Teams Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.

There was a definite Florida flavor to the league's top freshman awards this season. Stetson running back runner Jaylen Leary earned the league's Freshman Offensive Player of the Year award, becoming the first Hatter to win the rookie offensive award. Jacksonville linebacker Ethan Hull was the league's Freshman Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the second Dolphin to earn that award. These honors launch the PFL's annual awards week. The PFL will announce its 27th All-PFL Teams, Tuesday. The league will announce its Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Wednesday, coinciding with the announcement of the 27th Academic All-PFL teams. - Pioneer Football League

As if Saturday's game with San Diego wasn't big enough, it will be Dayton head coach Rick Chamberlin's 500th with the Flyers' program. Nobody is synonymous with the UD football quite like the 62-year-old Chamberlin, who's been a member of the program for 45 seasons. Since 2008, he has been the head coach for 129 games, posting an 89-40 record, including a record 66 Pioneer Football League wins. Previously, Chamberlin was a linebacker at Dayton for 45 games from 1975-78. A small college All-American as a senior, his 419 career tackles remain the Dayton record. From 1979 to 2007, he was an assistant coach for 325 games, including as a part of two Division III national championship teams and during Dayton's transition to the FCS level. Dayton brings 4-2 overall and 2-1 PFL records into Saturday's game and handed San Diego its last league loss four years ago. The Toreros (4-2, 3-0) will arrive at Welcome Stadium with a 32-game PFL winning streak, which is third-longest in conference play in FCS history. - AP College Football
