2019 ALL-GNAC FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Michael Roots, Central Washington, RB, Jr., Sacramento, Calif. (Southern Oregon Univ.),...Roots was once again named First Team All-GNAC. He led the GNAC in total rush yards (1,515), rushing touchdowns (14), y ards per carry (6.9), rush yards per game (137.7), and rush attempts (219). He ranks third in Division II in total rush yards, seventh in rush yards per game, is tied in rushing touchdowns, and 14th in rush yards per carry. Roots led the GNAC and ranked 5th in Division II in all-purpose yards per game at 172.82 during the regular season. His 1,901 total all-purpose yards is third in Division II. He rushed for a career-high 221 yards in the win against Simon Fraser on Oct. 26 and eclipsed 100-plus yards in eight games, including two games of 200-plus yards rushing. OCT 14 RMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: James Maxie of CSU-Pueblo has been named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week. He again led the ThunderWolves defense in the 31-14 road win at New Mexico Highlands with eight tackles (five solo), which included 2.5 tackles for loss (-20 yards), a sack (-14 yards) and a fumble recovery. After the Maxie fumble recovery, the ThunderWolves went 22 yards in five plays to push the lead to 21-0 in the second quarter. He totaled 313 yards punting on six punts to average 52.2 yards per punt in the 31-14 road win at New Mexico Highlands. He bo oted a career-long 77-yard punt that ranks as the longest in the RMAC this season and third longest in NCAA Division II in 2019.
