The Mountain West became the latest conference to postpone its football media days on Monday afternoon. The event was scheduled to be held in a virtual format on July 27-29. In a press release Monday, the conference announced it has been delayed until further notice and didn't give a timetable for rescheduling the event, saying only those decisions will be made "at the appropriate time." The Pac-12 also announced Monday that it was postponing its media days, which were set for July 29-31. On Thursday, the Big 12 announced its media days were postponed until Aug. 3, and the ACC postponed its event indefinitely last Monday.   A third offensive lineman from Boston College and a quarterback from Eastern Illinois have joined Colorado State's football program this summer, a school spokesman confirmed Friday. Elijah Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 300-pounder who started 10 games at Boston College as a true freshman in 2016 before missing the next two seasons with a knee injury, is on campus working out with the Rams and eligible to play immediately this fall as a senior, spokesman Kyle Neaves said. Jonah O'Brien, a quarterback who played in one game last season as a freshman while redshirting at Eastern Illinois, has also transferred to CSU and is participating in summer workouts, Neaves confirmed.

Johnson is the third offensive lineman from Boston College to transfer to CSU, following coach Steve Addazio from the Atlantic Coast Conference school to Fort Collins. Cam Reddy, a 6-1, 300-pound junior, came to CSU in January as a graduate transfer and participated in the limited spring practices the Rams were able to hold before shutdowns related to the coronavirus. Adam Korutz, a 6-1, 290-pound senior, came to CSU last month as a graduate transfer. - Fort Collins Coloradoan

Former Colorado State running back Marvin Kinsey Jr. will reportedly get a shot at a pro football career in Canada. Kinsey has been signed by the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL, according to 3DownNation. While Kinsey retweeted the report, Edmonton hasn't officially announced the signing. The 6-foot-1 Kinsey had a roller coaster career at CSU. He rushed for 703 yards and six touchdowns on 121 carries in the first seven games of his senior season in 2019, leading the Mountain West in rushing. He also led the nation in lost fumbles with seven at the time. He was suspended and then removed from the team after seven games. - Fort Collins Coloradoan

Colorado State's football game this fall at UNLV has been moved from a Saturday to a Friday night so that it could be played at Las Vegas' new Allegiant Stadium, school officials said Wednesday. The Rebels are leasing the stadium from its primary tenant, the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders, for six of UNLV's seven home games in 2020, beginning with the Aug. 29 season opener against California. Moving the CSU game from Saturday, Oct. 24, to Friday, Oct. 23, was part of the agreement the school reached with the Raiders to allow UNLV to play its Sept. 12 home game against Arizona State at the 65,000-seat stadium that is opening this year. Game times have not yet been announced. The Raiders are scheduled to play a home game Oct. 25 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. - Fort Collins Coloradoan

Former Colorado State football player and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams had 32 catches for 428 yards and three touchdowns in 2019 as a rookie before suffering a torn ACL. Without the kind of in-person contact coaches are not allowed to have right now with draft prospects, former Colorado State star Preston Williams might not have gotten the opportunity to become one of the NFL's top young receivers last fall. Karl Dorrell, the new head coach at the University of Colorado, said he learned a lot about Williams while interviewing him one-on-one at the NFL Scouting Combine and developed a relationship with him there that led to his signing as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins.

Dorrell was the Dolphins' receivers coach last season, and Williams was the Dolphins' leading receiver through the first eight games of the season, with 32 catches for 428 yards and three touchdowns, before tearing an ACL. "We felt that we got a steal when we were able to pick him up as an undrafted free agent," Dorrell said on a conference call Thursday. Dorrell said his initial meeting with Williams convinced him to dig deeper into his background. He talked to receivers coaches at Tennessee, where Williams played his first two seasons of college football, and CSU. He also took a closer look at Williams' Sept. 23, 2017 harassment incident in Fort Collins that kept him from participating in the on-field workouts at the Combine. - Fort Collins Coloradoan

Colorado State football fans who are worried about the role star players Warren Jackson, Dante Wright and Trey McBride will have under new coach Steve Addazio needn't worry. Addazio and offensive coordinator Joey Lynch are well aware of those players' skills and will continue to showcase them as much as possible, they said after a recent practice. "Those guys are dynamic; we're going to feature them," Addazio said. "We're not dummies." Jackson, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound senior, was one of the top receivers in the nation last year, catching 77 passes for 1,119 yards and eight touchdowns.

They're the three most dynamic players on CSU's offense, and new coordinator Joey Lynch is excited about what they can accomplish this fall. "You see them on film, and you know they're talented guys," Lynch said. "I've been really, really impressed with them, and their skill set out there matches what you thought. But what you don't know off the tape is their work ethic, how they take coaching and how they respond. "They want to be great." - Fort Collins Coloradoan

  03/12/20 - Jalen BatesrSr/2020, Colorado State, 6-4, 266 (DS#52 DE) + More +

Jalen Bates and Jamal Hicks were hoping to impress NFL scouts with their performances Wednesday at Colorado State football's annual Pro Day. Both performed solidly, but neither put up the kind of jaw-dropping efforts that would have assured them an NFL training camp invite this summer. "I was looking at, like, blowing the roof off this place, but I really didn't," Bates said after performing a series of agility tests and drills in front of scouts representing 24 NFL teams at CSU's Indoor Practice Facility. "I still feel like I did way better than average, so I feel like I should get a chance."

While scouts recorded the efforts of the 10 participants from CSU's 2019 team, they didn't share those results with the handful of media members on hand to watch the workouts from a distance. Bates and Hicks - the two participants most likely to get into an NFL camp - appeared to be among the leaders in both the vertical leap and broad jump, based on talk among the scouts and other observers. Bates, a 6-foot-4, 266-pound defensive end, recorded a vertical leap of 37 ½ inches and standing broad jump of 10 feet, 7 inches, according to representatives of his training program and agent. - Fort Collins Coloradoan
