  12/04/22 - Chase PenryrSr/2026, Boise State, 6-0, 194 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Yet another Colorado football player is likely on his way out of Boulder. On Friday, receiver Chase Penry announced his intention to put his name into the NCAA transfer portal when the 45-window opens on Monday. Following a miserable season, the Buffs (1-11, 1-8 Pac-12) have already had five players announce their intention to enter the transfer portal. True freshman quarterback Owen McCown and fifth-year junior guard Casey Roddick announced their decisions earlier this week. Safety Isaiah Lewis and receiver Maurice Bell are also in the portal, but both are sixth-year seniors who need a medical hardship waiver to gain a seventh season and final year of eligibility. Penry played in 11 games a true freshman in 2021, catching eight passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. He also had three punt returns for 53 yards. - Daily Camera

  11/01/22 - Cameron CamperrSr/2025, Boise State, 6-3, 198 (DS#70 WR) + More +

Indiana's learned during its bye week its most productive offensive skill player will be out for the rest of the season, creating even more problems for an offense that has fizzed in five consecutive losses. Wide receiver Cam Camper, who is leading the Hoosiers with 46 receptions and 569 yards and has two touchdowns this season, tore his ACL in the Hoosiers' loss to Rutgers on Oct. 22, IU coach Tom Allen said at his news conference Monday. The first-year transfer from Trinity Valley Community College in Texas ranks sixth in the Big Ten and fifth in yards. "Obviously feel terrible for him," Allen said. "He's part of our team. He'll be in that long road to recovery. Our staff will do a great job of getting him back and having him ready for the fall." Camper was barely recruited out of Lancaster (Texas) High School because he was only about 5-9 as a senior.

He tried walking on at Football Championship Subdivision power Sam Houston State but went virtually unnoticed before deciding to go the junior college route. He grew to 6-2, 200 pounds and quickly became a go-to receiver at Trinity Valley and was the top-rated junior college wide receiver recruit in the 2022 class. He signed with the Hoosiers and immediately impressed the coaching staff when he arrived in the spring. He won a starting job in preseason camp and caught 11 passes for 156 yards against Illinois in the season opener, helping the Hoosiers rally to a 23-20 win. He also caught 10 passes for 126 yards in a loss to Cincinnati and was clearly IU quarterback Connor Bazelak's most trusted target. - Indianapolis Star/News

  10/28/22 - George TarlasrSr/2023, Boise State, 6-3, 253 (DS#49 DE) + More +

Boise State pass rusher George Tarlas confirmed to the Idaho Statesman on Thursday that he will miss the rest of the season after suffering a fracture in his right hip socket. Tarlas underwent surgery to repair the fracture on Wednesday night, and he thanked fans for their support with a tweet on Thursday afternoon. "Thank you all for the prayers," Tarlas wrote. "God is good. Thank you for another day." Tarlas joined the Broncos this year after spending four seasons at Weber State, where he earned the nickname the "Greek Freak" while appearing in 45 games and posting 19 career sacks.

Transferring to Boise State was a homecoming of sorts for the native of Chakilda, Greece. Tarlas spent his high school years in Idaho, first at Caldwell and then Borah. Playing in the final season of his college career, Tarlas was leading Boise State with six tackles for loss this season. He was also second on the team with four sacks, and his 31 total tackles were tied for No. 4. - Idaho Statesman

  10/28/22 - Chris MarshallSr/2026, Boise State, 6-2, 211 (DS#63 WR) + More +

Texas A&M head football coach Jimbo Fisher declined comment on the reported suspensions of three true freshmen during Wednesday's weekly Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference. According to multiple reports, defensive back Denver Harris, wide receiver Chris Marshall and offensive lineman PJ Williams were suspended indefinitely earlier this week. "We're not speaking on that right now," Fisher said. "We keep everything we do in-house and our own deals and what's going on inside, we keep it internal."

The suspensions, first reported by TexAgs.com's Billy Liucci, would be the second of the season for Harris and Marshall. They along with freshmen wide receiver Evan Stewart and defensive back Smoke Bouie were suspended prior to the Miami game. Following that game, Fisher said the suspensions were due to a violation of team rules. "It was [disappointing]... I know that we'll move on and we'll handle it the way we need to handle it," Fisher said after the 17-9 victory on Sept. 17. Marshall has 11 receptions for 108 yards in three starts this season. Harris has 14 tackles in five games and Williams saw action in the Aggies' win over Sam Houston to open the season. - Bryan/College Station Eagle

  10/09/22 - George HolanirSr/2024, Boise State, 5-10, 208 (DS#28 RB) + More +

George Holani rushed for 157 yards and caught a touchdown pass, Ashton Jeanty rushed for 109 yards and a pair of scores, and Boise State defeated Fresno State 40-20 Saturday night. Boise State (4-2, 3-0 Mountain West) watched its ground game flourish for the second straight week since Dirk Koetter took over as the Broncos’ offensive coordinator. The Broncos, which rolled up 443 yards of total offense, finished with 316 yards rushing to match its ground output a week ago against San Diego State.

Fresno State (1-4, 0-1), still in search of a win over an FBS program this season, dropped its fourth straight game. The Bulldogs held a 14-13 lead late in the second quarter and later tied the game at 20 midway through the third. But Boise State’s defense clamped down as the Broncos’ offense exploded, scoring the game’s final 20 points to secure the win. Logan Fife was 14-of-23 passing for 134 yards with two interceptions for Fresno State. Jordan Mims led the Bulldogs’ ground attack with 61 yards on 21 carries. - Boise State/AP College Football
