The receiving corps around him have changed since the last time he played. Guys like Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz, Zach Farrar, Sal Cannella, and others, were not even on the roster when Hastings went off for 525 yards and four TDs in 2017. Now, he's going to fight to recapture that role in his final year at AU. "I think he'll have a chance to play in the NFL," Malzahn said of the 5-foot-10, 174-pound receiver. "Will, last year, not having him, it really hurt us. Will can get open versus anybody cove ring him in a man-to-man situation. He looks like he's about 13 years old, too. If you ever see him, you wouldn't think he's an SEC player."Hastings has put on about six pounds over the offseason, and he is one of the oldest players on the team, a nd is also engaged. So though the boyish reputation might follow him around, there's been a lot of growing up for Hastings. Part of that, too, came with the injuries. While he was rehabbing from last spring's ACL surgery, he had to undergo another in Oct ober, just as he was getting ready to see the field again, his season was ended. The talk of the NFL from Malzahn, and other Auburn coaches, is a nice thought. And given his talent, who knows, maybe there is that pathway.
