The Miami native hauled in 57 catches for 1,092 yards and six touchdowns, and in the process became just the third player in program history to have over 1,000 receiving yards in a season. - UAB Football

  2020 PAYCOM JIM THORPE AWARD PRESEASON WATCH LIST: Brontae Harris, UAB, Sr.,...A lockdown cornerback, Harris was coming off an all-conference season as a sophomore, but suffered a season ending injury on the second day of 2019 fall camp. He is now 100 percent healthy and is touted as one of the top cornerbacks in the nation. During UAB's championship run in 2018, Harris had 34 tackles, 11 pass breakups and two interceptions. He allowed only five first downs in coverage, which was the fewest amongst C-USA corners, as was his 37.5% catch rate allowed. For his career, he has 50 total tackles, five for a loss, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 16 pass breakups. - UAB Football

  2020 PRESEASON DOAK WALKER AWARD WATCH LIST: Spencer Brown (Sr.), UAB,...Brown enters his senior year as the nation's second active career leading rusher with 3,122 yards. He is one of only two players in the nation with over 3,000 career rushing yards to begin the season (Clemson's Travis Etienne). The Kimberly, Ala. native is one of 76 players listed to the Doak Walker Award Watch List and just one of five from Conference USA, along with Justin Henderson (Louisiana Tech), Brenden Knox (Marshall), Quardraiz Wadley (UTEP) and Gaej Walker (WKU).

After back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons to begin his career, Brown missed five games as a junior, but still managed to lead the team with 566 rushing yards, while also adding five touchdowns. Brown is UAB's career leading rusher and also holds the school record for most 100-yard rushing games (13). With 31 career rushing touchdowns, Brown needs five more to become UAB's all-time leader in that category as well. Brown leads a UAB running back unit that returns 4,368 combined rushing yards, which is the third most in the nation only behind Clemson and Tulsa.   2020 PRESEASON BEDNARIK AWARD WATCH LIST: DE Jordan Smith, UAB,...Smith erupted onto the scene last year, finishing with 53 tackles, 17.5 TFL, 10.0 sacks, four forced fumbles and eight quarterback hurries. He earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors while finishing third in the league in sacks per game (0.71) and fifth in TFL per game (1.25).   Former Arizona Wildcats safety and Alabama native Troy Young is returning home to play for the UAB Blazers. Young, who entered the NCAA transfer portal after three seasons at UA, committed to UAB Friday night. Young, a redshirt junior, attended Mobile Christian High School in Prichard, Alabama, which is less than a four-hour drive from Birmingham. Young was high on UAB as high schooler, but ultimately joined Arizona during the Rich Rodriguez regime. "UAB was one of the schools I wanted to go to out of high school," Young told AL.com Friday night. "When I decided to leave Arizona, they were one of the first schools I was in contact with. After they offered me, there was no point in waiting. That's where I wanted to be...At one point, I was committed to UAB and Arizona. - Arizona Star News
