  OCT 28 STATS FCS NATIONAL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jordan Bentley, Alabama A&M, RB, Sr., 6-1, 195, Guntersville, Alabama,...Bentley was a workhorse, scoring four touchdowns and rushing for a career-high 197 yards as Alabama A&M edged Alabama State 43-41 in three overtimes in the 78th Magic City Classic at Birmingham's Legion Field. With the score tied 35-35 to open the third OT, Bentley caught a 6-yard touchdown and then a two-point conversion -- the winning margin. He carried the ball 39 times, scoring on runs of 1, 1 and 6 yards, in the SWAC win.

  Aqeel Glass threw a two-point conversion pass to Jordan Bentley that made the difference as Alabama A&M beat Alabama State 43-41 in triple overtime on Saturday. Glass first hit Bentley from six yards for the touchdown, then connected with him on the conversion pass to give the Bulldogs (5-3, 2-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) a 43-35 lead in the third overtime period. Alabama State answered with a touchdown but KHA'Darrius Davis' pass attempt for the two-point conversion failed, leaving it at 43-41 and giving Alabama State the win. Glass was 12-of-31 passing for 236 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs. He also ran for a score. Bentley ran for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Davis had 202 yards and five touchdowns passing for the Hornets (3-4, 2-2). The Bulldogs trailed 21-7 at halftime but scored 14-unanswered points in the second half, including a 3-yard touchdown run by Glass to tie it up 21-all and force the first overtime. - AP College Football

  OCT 7 SWAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alabama A&M Aqeel Glass (6-4, 215, Jr., QB, St. Louis, Mo.),...Glass passed for 377 yards and four touchdowns, completing 28-of-38 attempts with no interceptions as Alabama A&M topped Texas Southern 35-28 for a conference win in overtime. Glass threw touchdown passes of 73, 57, 20 and 12 yards. His 12-yard touchdown pass to Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim was the eventual game-winner.   OCT 7/WEEK 6 MAC West Division Defensive Player of the Week: Toledo LB Saeed Holt,...Toledo sophomore linebacker Saeed Holt (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tied a career-high with 12 tackles and 1.5 sacks in a 31-24 win over Western Michigan. Holt made two big plays at the end of the contest. With Western Michigan at the Toledo 12-yard line with just over two minutes to play, Holt sacked quarterback Jon Wassink for a 12-yard loss, setting up a fourth-and-24 situation. Wassink scrambled on the next play and was tackled two yards shy of the first down by Holt with 1:44 left. - MAC Football

  Aqeel Glass threw for 377 yards and four touchdown passes, including the game-winner in overtime, and Alabama A&M defeated Texas Southern 35-28 in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic on Saturday. After Glass connected with Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim on a 12-yard touchdown, the Bulldogs (4-2, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) held on for the homecoming victory. It was Ibrahim's second touchdown reception of the game. Alabama A&M led 28-13 in the third quarter after Zabrian Moore caught a 73-yard touchdown pass from Glass. The Tigers (0-5, 0-2) tied it with two TD passes from Devin Williams, the first 50 yards to Donnie Corley and the second 40 yards to Ke'Lenn Davis. Williams threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns. - AP College Football

  Aqeel Glass was 22-of-26 passing for 339 yards and four touchdowns, Jordan Bentley ran for three scores, and Alabama A&M beat Central State 63-20 on Saturday night in the Gulf Coast Challenge at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Zabrian Moore had eight receptions for 218 yards and two touchdowns and Bentley finished with 21 carries for 103 yards for Alabama A&M (3-2). After Bentley scored on runs of 10 and 3 yards, Frank Cocio hit Dalane Brown II to pull Central State, an NCAA Division II member, within 14-7 at the end of the first quarter but Glass threw touchdown passes to Kendric Johnson, Anthony Howard, Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim and Moore in the second quarter to make it 42-14 at halftime.

Bentley had a 2-yard touchdown run with 4:58 left in the third quarter and, after Desmond Fletcher picked off a pass from Cocio on Central State's next play from scrimmage, backup quarterback T.J. Bell hit Moore for a 33-yard TD just 24 seconds later. Demarco Gibson's 42-yard pick-6 made it 63-14 early in the fourth quarter. Terraris Saffold had 18 carries for 98 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown with 18 seconds to play, for Central State. - AP College Football

  SEPT 16/WEEK 3 SWAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alabama A&M, Jordan Bentley (6-1, RB, 195, Sr., Guntersville, Ala.),...Bentley accounted for 161 yards and three touchdowns as Alabama A&M overcame an 18-point halftime deficit to top North Alabama 31-24 in Florence - AAMU's first win against UNA since 1988. The senior running back from Guntersville, Ala. rushed for 126 yards on 26 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per carry, scoring on runs of three and six yards. Also caught three passes for 37 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown reception. All three of Bentley's touchdowns came in the second half. - SWAC Football

  Senior wide receiver Dee Anderson is "suspended from all team activities" until he passes conditioning, LSU coach Ed Orgeron said Friday evening. Anderson was not present when LSU opened fall practice. "He had some conditioning stuff to get done," Orgeron said. "When he gets that conditioning stuff done, we feel like he's going to be better. That's all. Just conditioning."

Anderson, who's LSU's tallest wide receiver at 6-foot-5, caught 20 passes last season for 274 yards and a touchdown. He caught a third-down pass against Auburn that extended LSU's game-winning drive. "I think he's going to come along," Orgeron said. "He's going to be fine once he gets in the right conditioning. I think he'll be fine." - Baton Rouge Advocate

Alabama A&M's players are embracing the rising expectations. "We set high expectations for ourselves," Glass said. "The goal is to build a championship team. But there also is a process to get there. The first step is to improve throughout preseason camp, and then to take the season one game at a time. "For our team to get where we want to be, we can't afford to get caught up in the hype and get ahead of ourselves.
