  Aqeel Glass threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns and Alabama A&M bounced South Carolina State 31-7 on Saturday in a non-conference FCS spring opener for both teams. Glass threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim for the game's initial score with 9:08 left in the second quarter. Just before halftime he threw and 18-yard score to Odieu Hilaire to make it 14-0. To start the third, Glass connected with Dami Adekunjo for 65-yard TD pass and then later to Brian Jenkins Jr. for a 20-yard scoring pass with 4:43 left in the third. Glass finished 15-for-33 passing and Alabama A&M suffered no ill-effects from his three interceptions. Alex James' 23-yard touchdown run with 13:36 left accounted for South Carolina State's lone score. Kendral Flowers ran for 115 yards on 13 carries for the Bulldogs. - Alabama A&M/AP College Football

  The Southwestern Athletic Conference has released its revised Spring 2021 Preseason All-SWAC Football team with Alabama A&M's Aqeel Glass being named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. The preseason team and preseason poll was updated to include only student-athletes and teams scheduled to participate during the spring season. The preseason team and predicted order of finish was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. Student-athletes were selected to the team based upon total number of votes received. In the revised predicted order of finish, Alabama A&M was picked to finish first in the East division followed by Jackson State, Alabama State, and Mississippi Valley State. AAMU claimed 13 first place votes while also tallying a league leading 83 total points. - SWAC Football

  2021 ALL-SWAC PRESEASON SECOND TEAM (COACHES): LB Quantravis Kelly, Redshirt Senior, Alabama A&M,... The lone Second-Team defensive selection for the Spring 2021 season is an integral part of last year's unit in Kelly. In 12 games he recorded 80 tackles -- 40 solo and 40 assisted – and had eight of those for loss.   2021 ALL-SWAC PRESEASON SECOND TEAM (COACHES): WR Zabrian Moore, Senior, Alabama A&M,... Rounding out the offensive honorees was another recipient of a number of those touchdowns in Moore. Seeing action in all 12 games, he was not only one of three wideouts to surpass 1,000 yards receiving but led the SWAC with 1,057 yards. While Glass had the passing and touchdown numbers all last year, that doesn't necessarily happen without the efforts of Fuqua. The 6-2, then sophomore, was a staple on an offensive line that allowed for not only all of those lofty passing numbers but also the league's leading rusher and First-Team choice in Jordan Bentley.   Redshirt freshman Cornelius "Quad" Brown threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns to lead Georgia State to a 39-21 victory over Western Kentucky on Saturday in the LendingTree Bowl. The Panthers (6-4) scored touchdowns on four consecutive first-half possessions and Brown's touchdown passes came in the second quarter to three receivers. Destin Coates added 117 yards and a touchdown rushing, part of a 227-yard day on the ground for Georgia State.

Western Kentucky (5-7) scored first, driving 80 yards in 14 plays for quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome's 2-yard touchdown run and a 7-0 lead with 4:02 left in the first. Georgia State answered with a largely run-based drive, capped by Coates' 11-yard run that made it 7-7 with eight seconds remaining in the first. The Panthers scored again on their next possession to take a 14-7 lead, with Brown hitting Sam Pinckney with a 26-yard strike at the goal line with 9:50 left in the half. After Pigrome threw his first interception of the year three plays later, Georgia State again got into the end zone on Brown's 5-yard pass to Jamari Thrash for a 21-7 lead at the 2:09 mark of the second. - AP College Football

  Over the last two games, Brown has passed for 706 yards on 47 completions in wins over South Alabama and Georgia Southern. He completed his last 10 passes vs. South Alabama and first three vs. Georgia Southern. Thirteen straight completions is the second-longest streak in program history. The Birmingham, Ala., native leads the Sun Belt in passing (227.3 ypg) and is second in total offense (256.3 ypg) and points responsible for (14.2 ppg) and third in rushing touchdowns (7).   Cornelious Brown IV threw for a career-high 372 yards and a touchdown, Sam Pinckney and Cornelius McCoy each had 100-plus yards receiving and Georgia State beat rival Georgia Southern 30-24 on Saturday. Georgia State trailed 24-13 early in the fourth quarter before Destin Coates scored on a 4-yard run, Brown added a short TD run and Noel Ruiz kicked a 35-yard field goal with 1:53 remaining. Quavian White sealed it by intercepting a pass by Justin Tomlin.

Pinckney had 10 catches for 126 yards and McCoy added five grabs and 111 yards with one touchdown for Georgia State (5-4, 4-4 Sun Belt). Last week, Brown set career high with 334 yards passing and Pinckney had five catches for 176 yards, the sixth-highest single-game total in program history.   Cornelious Brown IV passed for 334 yards and Tucker Gregg rushed for three touchdowns - both career highs - and Georgia State beat South Alabama 31-14 on Saturday. Sam Pinckney hauled in catches of 65 and 43 yards, each setting up the Panthers (4-4, 3-4 Sun Belt Conference) with first-and-goals that each resulted in a Gregg rushing TD. Pinckney had five receptions for a career-best 176 yards. Gregg scored on runs of 3, 33 and 1 yards. His 33-yarder came as he raced untouched through a huge hole in the middle of the line for a 21-14 Georgia State lead.

Michael Hayes added a 23-yard field goal - a career first - early in the fourth quarter as Georgia State took a 24-14 lead. The Panthers followed with a defensive series that sacked Desmond Trotter twice, and regained possession when Jacorey Crawford broke up a fourth-and-11 pass attempt near midfield. Trotter finished 25-for-43 for 211 yards. The Panthers sacked Trotter seven times to tie the school record.   NOV 9 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cornelious Brown IV, Georgia State,...Georgia State quarterback Cornelious Brown IV accounted for four touchdowns and 271 yards of total offense to lead the Panthers to a 52-34 victory over ULM. Brown completed 20 of 32 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 30 yards, including a 3-yard scoring run. The redshirt freshman known as Quad directed a GSU offense that tied the program record for points vs. an FBS opponent, scoring 52 points for the second time this season and fourth time in the last two years.

On the first play of the game, Brown hooked up with Cornelius McCoy for a 57-yard completion, setting up the Panthers' first touchdown less than three minutes into the game. With Brown at the helm, Georgia State jumped to a 21-0 lead and went on to score a program-record 42 points in the first quarter. Brown was recognized as the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness. For the season, he is averaging 234.5 yards of total offense per game and has accounted for 17 touchdowns (12 passing, five rushing) in six games. - Sun Belt Football

  Cornelious Brown IV threw for two touchdowns, ran for another and Georgia State won 36-34 after Troy missed on a 2-point pass in the final minute on Saturday. Brown passed 36 yards to Roger Carter for a touchdown then ran in from the 2 to cap a 20-0 third quarter for a 33-21 Panthers (2-2, 1-2) lead. His running TD came three plays after Jacob Strachan forced and recovered a fumble by Free. Free threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, the second with 37 seconds remaining to trail 36-34, but then overthrew his receiver on the conversion attempt.

The Trojans (3-2, 1-1 Sun Belt) led 21-13 at halftime after Reddy Steward's 35-yard pick-6 and Shakel Brown's 21-yard fumble return. Starting quarterback Gunnar Watson left with under minute remaining in the first quarter while throwing a tying 10-yard TD pass to Khalil McClain. Brown was 20-of-30 passing for 169 yards and two touchdowns, both to Carter, plus an interception. Destin Coates had 25 carries for 115 yards.
