He closed the first half's scoring with his 49-yard boot, giving the Hatters a 24-0 lead.   The Citadel Football   09/07 WEEK 1 SOCON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gavin Garcia, Gr., RB, The Citadel, Catawissa, Pa.,...Garcia rushed for 137 yards on 21 carries as The Citadel picked up a 43-41 win at Charlotte in three overtimes on Saturday. The graduate student recorded three touchdowns, including a 25-yard scamper in the first overtime which was named the No. 3 play of the day on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10. The native of Catawissa, Pennsylvania, logged his other two scores from two yards out in the first quarter, and an 1-yard score in the third quarter. On Monday, The Citadel was named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week for the squad's victory over Charlotte.   Jackson State Football   09/07 WEEK 1 SWAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jared Lockhart, Jackson State,...The Sophomore from Charlotte, North Carolina led the charge with a career-high of 388 passing yards and four touchdowns in the 66-14 win over Edward Waters in the HOPE Labor Day Classic. Lockhart was the game's offensive MVP, helping the Tigers 38 unanswered points in the first half along with the offense piling up 704 yards. Lockhart also added a rushing touchdown with five rushes and 22 yards on the ground. Jared Lockhart leads the SWAC with 610 passing yards with five touchdowns and holds a No. 8 ranking in the FCS for passing yards category.
