09/14 WEEK 2 CUSA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dominic Bourgeois, MTSU - Sr. - K - Baltimore, Md.,...Bourgeois connected on two field goals and hit all three of his extra points in MTSU's (1-1) hotly contested game at Marshall. His second quarter field goal went for 52 yards to set a new personal record and match the fifth longest in Blue Raider history. It was also the longest hit for an MTSU player since 2010. The senior would later add a 35-yard field goal to pull MTSU within one point at the half on the road. He also made history with a 19-yard touchdown reception, becoming the first quarterback in FIU history to catch a touchdown. OCT 7 WEEK 1 ASSOCIATED PRESS NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Malachi Toney, Miami,...Toney formed an immediate connection with Duke transfer quarterback Darian Mensah, catching 12 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns in the Hurricanes' 45-6 win at Stanford. Toney set a Miami single-game receiving record, bettering the 220 yards by Eddie Brown against Boston College in 1984. Toney and Mensah teamed for 48 yards on Miami's first play from scrimmage and they finished the drive with a 23-yard touchdown. Toney caught a 2-yard TD pass on the second series, hauled in a 39-yard pass to set up another TD and finished his night with a 47-yard TD reception. - AP College Football

The second-year quarterback threw seven touchdown passes in a 59-14 win over Miami (Ohio) to set the Atlantic Coast Conference record and tie the school record. Heintschel completed 31 of 41 passes for 453 yards. His seven touchdowns went to seven different receivers, with three coming in the first half and four in the second. - AP College Football

09/14 WEEK 2 BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eli Gillman, RB, Montana,...A week after setting the program record for career rushing touchdowns, Gillman established a new school record for career total touchdowns Saturday, pushing his tally to 62. He also set a new program record for career points scored among non-kickers, finishing the day with 372. Gillman's 147-yard effort against Utah Tech marked his 18th career 100-yard rushing game and his second consecutive week with three rushing touchdowns. The performance featured a 75-yard touchdown run - the longest in the Big Sky this week and the second longest of his career. Gillman also became just the fourth Grizzly in program history to surpass 4,000 career rushing yards, finishing the game with 4,005. He now needs 66 yards to break Yohance Humphrey's program record of 4,070 rushing yards. The only player left ahead of Gillman on the conference's all-time total touchdown list is Cooper Kupp, who finished his career at Eastern Washington with 77. Gillman now needs 16 total touchdowns to break Kupp's Big Sky record. - Montana Football

He led the Guins on eight touchdown drives in his eight series on the field. In the first half, he accounted for what is a possible FCS-record seven touchdowns (no official records available). In the game, he passed for a career and school-record six touchdown passes and ran for two more. (Normal Community HS),...In a big game against an FBS foe, it was Illinois State's most decorated defensive player who stepped up to lead the Redbird defense in a 28-24 road win over Northern Illinois. Fifth-year middle linebacker and All-American Tye Niekamp came up huge for the Redbirds, posting 11 tackles, two sacks and 3.0 tackles-for-loss in a win over the Huskies. One of those tackles came late in the game, when the Redbirds buckled down for a fourth-down stop deep in their own territory that gave them the ball back on downs. Niekamp's two sacks set a single-game high and his 3.0 TFLs tied a career best for the Redbird captain. The ISU defense held the Huskies to just 112 yards on the ground, while recording three sacks, eight TFLs and two interceptions in the contest. - Missouri Valley Football

09/14 WEEK 2 BIG SKY CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Deliyon Freeman, DB, Northern Arizona,...In a game full of defensive standouts, Freeman rose to the top. He set a career-high with 13 tackles, including seven solo tackles, and was involved in two of NAU's six turnovers in the Family Weekend victory against UIW. Freeman also had one tackle behind the line of scrimmage and one pass breakup. Freeman forced a fumble in the second quarter, punching the ball out of Damashja Harris' hands from behind. One drive later, Freeman intercepted Emmett Brown, setting up the Lumberjacks right outside the red zone with under a minute left until halftime.

Freeman's first career interception was a key one as it immediately followed an NAU fumble of its own deep in the red zone. The interception led to Myseth Currie's 13-yard touchdown reception from Ty Pennington, which sent the 'Jacks into the locker room with a 24-7 advantage. Freeman's play was part of a defensive performance that notched six takeaways in a game for the first time since 2007. NAU is tied for first in the FCS with 11 takeaways on the season. For Freeman, the Big Sky Player of the Week honor is his first of his career. The Hawai'i transfer is tied for second on the team with 24 tackles and has started all three games at nickelback. - Northern Arizona Football
