Oklahoma Football   Oklahoma plans to add padding to the brick wall around Owen Field that receiver Keontez Lewis ran headfirst into over the weekend. Most of the wall that surrounds nearly the entire field is not padded, and it is relatively close to the boundaries. Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said the specifics aren't clear yet. "I don't know exactly when or how much and all of that," Venables said Tuesday. "But I think they're going to put some padding around that brick area where we're vulnerable...That's what I was told." Lewis was injured during Oklahoma's 44-0 win over Kent State on Saturday.

In the first quarter, a pass by Michael Hawkins Jr. was a bit overthrown, and Lewis' momentum took him into an unpadded section of the wall beyond the back of the end zone. He was briefly motionless and was carted off after being attended to for about 10 minutes. What seemed scary turned out to be a relatively minor incident. Venables said on his Monday radio show that Lewis is doing well. "I was terrified, because it didn't look good at all," Venables said. "Really fortunate, all things considered - very fortunate. He's in great spirits and feeling much better. Remarkably, really not even a scratch." Lewis has 17 catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns this season. - AP College Football

Miami Football   Miami moved back to No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll on Sunday, Texas Tech has its highest ranking since 2008 and Penn State and Texas fell all the way out of the Top 25 for the first time since 2022 after the two top-10 teams lost to unranked opponents. No. 1 Ohio State was dominant in its win over Minnesota, but its 40 first-place votes were its fewest since ascending to the top five weeks ago. The Hurricanes, who moved ahead of idle Oregon, went from receiving four first-place votes last week to 21 this week after winning at Florida State. Miami also had been No. 2 two weeks ago following an open date and gave up that spot last week after Oregon's overtime win at Penn State.

Oregon, which received the other five first-place votes, was followed by idle No. 4 Mississippi and No. 5 Texas A&M. The Aggies hammered Mississippi State and earned their highest ranking since Jimbo Fisher's 2021 team was No. 5 in early September. Oklahoma slipped from No. 5 to No. 6 despite its 44-0 shutout of Kent State. Indiana, which had an open date, is No. 7 and No. 8 Alabama got a two-spot promotion for its 16-point win over Vanderbilt. No. 9 Texas Tech, which won 35-11 at previously unbeaten Houston, cracked the top 10 for the first time since it was No. 8 in the final regular-season poll in 2008. Georgia moved up two spots to No. 10 after its win over Kentucky. Texas was the AP's preseason No. 1 team and Penn State was No. 2. Both are now out of the rankings. - AP College Football

Penn State Football   Penn State took one of the biggest falls in the 89-year history of the poll for its loss at previously winless UCLA a week after the Bruins fired their coach. The Nittany Lions had slipped from No. 2 to No. 7 following their loss to Oregon. They went to UCLA as 24.5-point favorites, according to BetMGM Sportsbook, and lost 42-37. Penn State is unranked for the first time since September 2022. The plunge out of the Top 25 matched 1959 Oklahoma for second-biggest drop out of the rankings, not counting preseason polls or the 2020 pandemic season. The '59 Sooners went from No. 2 to out of the Top 20 after losing their opener to Northwestern. Texas lost at Ohio State as the preseason No. 1 and was No. 9 entering its game at Florida. The Longhorns' 29-21 loss at the Swamp sent it tumbling out of the Top 25. They hadn't been unranked since November 2022. Before Sunday, the last time two top-10 teams fell out of the poll the same week was Sept. 16, 1986, when it happened to No. 8 Tennessee and No. 10 Ohio State. - AP College Football

Memphis Football   Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Memphis are no strangers to The Associated Press college football poll. Until now, the three schools from the Volunteer State had never been ranked in the Top 25 together. Memphis is the first Bowl Subdivision team to go 6-0 and achieve bowl eligibility, and Sunday the Tigers received their first ranking of the season at No. 23. "Hopefully we continue to win football games and hopefully there continues to be positive headlines about this group and about this program," sixth-year coach Ryan Silvefield said. "We want to continue to see that leaping Tiger, that Memphis logo, on national television week after week and people talking about us in a positive light - not only about this athletic department, this football program, but our great city." The Tigers, who won 34 games over four seasons with Seth Henigan at quarterback, have rallied around Brendon Lewis and are among the front-runners for the Group of Five bid in the College Football Playoff.

Lewis, who transferred from Nevada, leads an offense averaging 40.5 points per game to rank second in the American Conference and 450 yards per game to rank third. Memphis' season highlight so far is its 32-31 win over Arkansas in a game in which it trailed by 18 points in the second quarter. The Tigers have lopsided wins over Florida Atlantic and Tulsa since. Their toughest remaining games, against No. 24 South Florida and Tulane, are at home. - AP College Football

Texas Tech Football   Brendan Sorsby passed for 214 yards and two touchdowns, Evan Pryor ran for 111 yards and two TDs and Cincinnati used a 17-point first quarter to beat No. 14 Iowa State 38-30 on Saturday. The Bearcats (4-1, 2-0 Big 12) beat a ranked opponent at home for the first time since beating No. 16 Houston 35-20 on Dec. 4, 2021. The Cyclones (5-1, 2-1) trailed 31-7 with 1:08 left in the second quarter before rallying to get within eight with 1:56 left in the game. Cincinnati recovered an onside kick to end the threat. Rocco Becht passed for 314 yards and two touchdowns and ran another two in for the Cyclones.

Sorsby's 82-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Goodie in the fourth quarter was the Bearcats' longest pass play since 2015. Iowa State, one of the least penalized teams in the country, had five penalties for 35 yards in the first half. The Cyclones jumped offside on third down to extend the Bearcats' opening drive, which led to a 30-yard TD run from Pryor for the game's first score. The Cyclones went on to take a 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Becht got the Cyclones on the board early in the second on a 14-yard run. Becht scored on a 4-yard run on the final play of the half and then threw an 11-yard TD pass to Brett Eskildsen on the opening drive in the third quarter. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

Illinois Football   Luke Altmyer threw for a career-high 390 yards, Hank Beatty had 186 yards receiving and Kaden Feagin added two TD runs to lead No. 22 Illinois past Purdue 43-27 on Saturday. The Fighting Illini (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) used their first conference road win to retain the Cannon Trophy for the first time since last beating its border rival in back-to-back seasons in 2001 and 2002. Altmyer was 19-for-22 passing with a touchdown throw to Beatty, who amassed his yardage on just five receptions including his 62-yard TD catch. Ca'Lil Valentine ran for 92 yards and a touchdown. The Illini finished with 507 total yards.

Ryan Browne went 30 of 50 with 302 yards and one TD pass. He also ran for a score as the Boilermakers (2-3, 0-2) lost their third in a row. Antonio Harris and Devin Mockobee also had TD runs. Michael Jackson III caught 14 of the 17 passes thrown his direction for 94 yards. The Illini took control with a 27-point second quarter that included two David Olano field goals - on the first and last plays of the quarter. All the Boilermakers could muster amid that scoring flurry was a 60-yard TD pass from Browne to Corey Smith to cut the deficit to 24-14 with 1:13 left in the half. Illinois sealed the victory with two more Olano field goals in the second half followed by Feagin's 1-yard plunge with 1:19 left in the third to make it 40-21. Olano finished with five field goals, the most by an Illinois player since October 2001. - Illinois/AP College Football

Georgia Football   Gunner Stockton and the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs wasted no time showing they had moved on from a tough loss to Alabama. Stockton and Dillon Bell each had a pair of touchdown runs, leading the Bulldogs to a 35-14 victory over Kentucky on Saturday. Georgia (4-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) finally got off to a quick start, capping its first two possessions with scoring runs from quarterback Stockton. There were no signs of anyone still pouting about what happened a week ago, when Alabama won 24-21 to snap Georgia's 33-game home winning streak. "I wasn't shocked at all by the response of the team," coach Kirby Smart said. "If we continue to get better, we'll be where we need to be." Stockton had 48 yards on six carries. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 196 yards, including a 16-yard scoring play to Cash Jones.

Bell, a receiver who also has played running back, tacked on a pair of 3-yard TD runs with an end around and a reverse. He set up the scoring pass to Jones with a 33-yard catch. Cutter Boley had 225 yards passing with a couple of touchdowns for Kentucky (2-3, 0-3), but it wasn't nearly enough to prevent Georgia from winning its 16th straight game in the series. The Bulldogs haven't lost to Kentucky since 2009. "I'm excited about our guys getting off to a fast start. That was the goal. That's always the goal," Smart said. "We still have a long way to improve to get where we need to go. But we are physical and we are resilient. That's gonna keep you competitive." Georgia took the opening kickoff and went 75 yards in 12 plays, capped by Stockton diving at the pylon for a 7-yard scoring run. The Bulldogs went nearly the length of the field on their next possession - 96 yards over 13 plays - and Stockton finished it off again. He trotted in for a 6-yard TD after a nifty fake on linebacker Sam Greene. Georgia had trailed at halftime in its two previous games. No such issues in this one. - Georgia/AP College Football
