  10/11/25 - K Harry Balke, Sr/2026, Drake + More +

Drake Football   Harry Balke's career-best 55-yard field goal as time expired sent Drake past San Diego 19-16 on Saturday. A senior transfer from NAIA Benedictine College (Kansas), Balke also connected from 43 yards to bring the Bulldogs (3-2, 2-0 Pioneer Football League) within three early in the third. Balke had missed the extra point on the previous scoring drive. Drake's Nick Herman rushed for 96 yards and added 35 receiving yards, and Luke Woodson added 55 yards and a score on the ground.

After Logan Inagawa's 5-yard scoring run with 4:38 remaining, San Diego ran the clock to 1:09 as Emiliano Salazar tied the game with a 41-yard field goal. Drake answered with a seven-play, 27-yard drive to the San Diego 38 to set up Balke's game-winner. The Toreros (3-4, 1-2) lost their third straight game against Drake, and lost on a walk-off field goal for the second straight year. Shane Dunning's 48-yard kick gave Drake a 30-28 victory on Sept. 28, 2024. - AP College Football

Missouri Football   If Missouri drops in the rankings, it likely won't be far. The Tigers were every bit in the game for all four quarters. A close loss to a top-10 Alabama team could cause some movement, but it shouldn't set the Tigers back too far in the rankings. - AP College Football

Alcorn State Football   Jacorian Sewell ran for 177 yards, including a 99-yard touchdown, Reggie Davis added 139 yards on the ground and Alcorn State routed Lincoln of California 42-0 on Saturday. Sewell broke free from his own 1-yard line on the Braves' first drive. Moments later, Davis added a 92-yard scoring burst to make it 14-0 just five minutes into the contest.

Quarterback Jaylon Tolbert connected with Omarion Blakes on a three-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter, sending the Braves (1-5) to halftime with a 21-0 advantage. Sewell struck again on a 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, followed by Tolbert's 38-yard touchdown strike to Tyran Warren. Tylon Citizen capped the scoring with a two-yard touchdown rush to make it 42-0 midway through the third. Lincoln is a traveling team that is not a member of the NCAA.   Indiana Football   Fernando Mendoza threw for 215 yards and a key fourth-quarter touchdown and No. 7 Indiana remained undefeated with a 30-20 victory over No. 3 Oregon on Saturday. Roman Hemby added a pair of scoring runs for the Hoosiers (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten), who frustrated the Ducks (5-1, 2-1) with stout defensive play. Dante Moore threw for 186 yards and a touchdown for Oregon. He had two interceptions and was sacked six times. With Oregon down 20-13 going into the fourth quarter, Brandon Finney intercepted Mendoza's and ran it back 35 yards to tie it with 12:42 left. Mendoza answered with an 8-yard scoring pass to Elijah Sarratt with 6:23 to go. On Oregon's next series, Moore's pass was intercepted by Louis Moore. Brendan Franke added a 22-yard field goal for the Hoosiers with 2:06 left.

Both sides were coming off weeks off. In their last game, the Ducks beat Penn State 30-24 in double-overtime on the road in the annual White Out game. The Hoosiers beat Iowa 20-15 on the road. On the first series of the game, the Ducks failed at a fourth-and-1 attempt, giving the Hoosiers good field position for their opening drive. It ended with Nico Radicic's 42-yard field goal. Oregon pulled ahead with Moore's 44-yard touchdown pass to Malik Benson but Hemby rushed for a 3-yard touchdown before the end of the first quarter to make it 10-7. Atticus Sappington's 40-yard field goal tied it up for the Ducks, but a later 36-yard attempt that would have given Oregon the lead went wide left. Franke kicked a 58-yard field goal as time ran out to give Indiana a 13-10 advantage at the break. Sappington's 33-yard field goal in the third quarter tied it again for Oregon but Hemby added his second touchdown for the Hoosiers, a two-yard dash late in the period. - Indiana/AP College Football

Oregon Football   Dylan Raiola threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Dane Key with 1:08 remaining, and Nebraska edged Maryland 34-31 on Saturday. Raiola threw for 260 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions in a wild game in which the Cornhuskers (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) squandered a 10-point lead. The Terrapins (4-2, 1-2) led 31-24 in the fourth quarter before Emmett Johnson's 50-yard run gave Nebraska the ball at the Maryland 10. The shifty running back didn't get the ball again on that drive, and a delay of game penalty on fourth down forced the Cornhuskers to settle for a field goal and a four-point deficit. Nebraska got the ball back, and Raiola guided his team 81 yards in seven plays for the go-ahead TD. Maryland then drove back near midfield, but freshman Malik Washington was called for a disputed intentional grounding penalty that knocked the Terps back 14 yards. Washington had a receiver open to the left and perhaps would have seen him if he'd had more time. Washington eventually threw incomplete on fourth-and-four from the Nebraska 49.

Dontay Joyner scored on a 67-yard interception return in the third quarter for Maryland, which lost a second straight heartbreaker at home after blowing a 20-point lead against Washington the previous weekend. Nebraska opened the scoring on a 64-yard catch-and-run by Nyziah Hunter. An offensive pass interference penalty wiped out a touchdown later in the first quarter, and the Cornhuskers settled for a field goal. Then, Nolan Ray ran for a 28-yard touchdown for Maryland, and the Terps cashed in on Raiola's first interception when Washington found Leon Haughton Jr. for a 21-yard TD. An 85-yard kick return by Kenneth Williams set up Raiola's 7-yard touchdown pass to Luke Lindenmeyer, and his 12-yard TD throw to Hunter made it 24-14. But Raiola was picked off again near the toward the end of the half, and Maryland managed a field goal before halftime. The Terps took the opening drive of the third and tied the game on a 1-yard scoring run by DeJuan Williams. The interception return by Joyner gave Maryland the lead. - Nebraska/AP College Football

Colorado Football   Kaidon Salter tossed two touchdown passes and Colorado's defense came up big in the fourth quarter with an interception and a fourth-down stop to help the Buffaloes beat No. 22 Iowa State 24-17 on Saturday. Salter threw for 255 yards, including a 70-yard TD strike to Omarion Miller, as the Buffaloes (3-4, 1-3 Big 12) snapped a two-game skid. Salter took a knee to close out the game and threw the ball high into the air. The students rushed the field despite warnings from the public address announcer. It was the second win over an AP Top 25 team since coach Deion Sanders took over at Colorado. Sanders was on the sideline after undergoing surgery related to his blood clots earlier in the week.

The momentum flipped early in the fourth quarter with the Cyclones (5-2, 2-2) facing third-and-goal at the 7. Rocco Becht was intercepted by Tawfiq Byard, but a flag was thrown for an apparent pass interference behind the play. The officials huddled for a moment before waiving off the flag. Iowa State coach Matt Campbell was livid on the sideline. He was still angry and yelling at the officials after the Cyclones forced a Buffaloes punt. Soon after, Iowa State faced a fourth-and-1 at their 18 only to be stuffed by Colorado. It led to a 29-yard field goal by Alejandro Mata to make it 24-17. Salter's short TD pass to Joseph Williams in the third quarter gave the Buffaloes the lead for good. Salter also hit Williams for a 38-yard gain late in the fourth that sealed the victory. Williams had eight catches for 128 yards. Abu Sama III ran for 177 yards and a pair of short touchdowns for the Cyclones, who have dropped two in a row. - Colorado/AP College Football

Northwestern Football   Caleb Komolafe ran for 72 yards and a touchdown and Northwestern held on to beat Penn State 22-21 on Saturday. Preston Stone threw for 163 yards with a touchdown pass to Griffin Wilde, and Jack Olsen kicked three field goals for the Wildcats (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) who won their third straight. The Wildcats, who hadn't won in Beaver Stadium since 2014, took the lead for good with 4:51 when Komolafe bulled his way through Penn State's defense to cap a 75-yard drive late in the fourth quarter. The Nittany Lions got the ball back, but lost quarterback Drew Allar to a leg injury on a third-down play. Backup Ethan Grunkemeyer replaced him and was immediately stopped on a fourth-down run and the Wildcats ran the clock out from there. Allar, Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen ran for touchdowns for the Nittany Lions (3-3, 0-3) who lost their third straight. It was the fifth time a James Franklin coached Penn State team has lost at least three consecutive games in a season.

The Nittany Lions, who committed six penalties for 71 yards in the first half, could never get out of their way. Meanwhile, the Wildcats played steady, almost mistake-free football in front of a flat Penn State crowd that chanted "Fire James Franklin!" early. Allar was intercepted on Penn State's opening drive when he threw the ball right to defensive back Ore Adeyi in the end zone. Adeyi returned it to the Northwestern 33 and the Wildcats turned it into three points 12 plays later with Jack Olsen's a 27-yard field goal with 2:51 left in the first quarter. The Nittany Lions finally got their offense moving with Allen. He carried five times on Penn State's next possession and gave his team a 7-3 lead when he muscled in from 11 yards out early in the second. Northwestern marched into Penn State's territory on its next possession where Stone found a wide open Wilde for a go-ahead 28-yard touchdown pass. The Wildcats appeared to get a stop on defense but fumbled away the ensuing punt. - Northwestern/AP College Football

Texas Football   Ryan Niblett returned a punt 75 yards for a decisive touchdown in the fourth quarter and Texas got a much-needed 23-6 win over sixth-ranked Oklahoma in the annual Red River Rivalry game on Saturday. Arch Manning completed 21 of 27 passes for 166 yards and the go-ahead 12-yard TD to DeAndre Moore Jr. on the opening drive of the second half for the Longhorns (4-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference), who were coming off a loss at Florida that knocked the preseason No. 1 team out of the AP Top 25. Texas retained the Golden Hat trophy and should get back into the next poll on Sunday. More importantly, the Longhorns avoided a loss that likely would have ended any realistic chance of getting into the College Football Playoff for the third year in a row.

John Mateer was 20-of-38 passing with three interceptions in his return to the lineup for Oklahoma (5-1, 1-1) only 17 days after surgery on his throwing (right) hand. Niblett worked up the sideline in front of the Texas bench, and after making a cut inside near midfield bounced off a teammate and continued his sprint to the end zone for a 20-6 lead with 9:59 left. When the Sooners gained 38 yards on three plays to the Texas 27 on the ensuing drive, Mateer had an incompletion before being sacked on consecutive plays and then had another incompletion on fourth-and-22. They finished with only 258 total yards. Mason Shipley kicked field goals of 22, 48 and 39 yards for the Longhorns. He had two long misses, the first a 55-yard attempt that ricocheted off the right upright, and was later short on a 56-yard attempt. Tate Sandell kicked a 42-yard field goal on the game's opening drive for the Sooners. He made it 6-0 with a 41-yarder in the second quarter, but they didn't score again. - Texas/AP College Football

Georgia Tech (6-0, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won its first six games for the first time since 2011. The Yellow Jackets scored the game's first 18 points.

King led Georgia Tech with another productive and efficient display of his dual-threat skills. Virginia Tech (2-5, 1-2) listed 20 players as out due to injuries and fell to 2-2 under interim coach Philip Montgomery. The Hokies cut Georgia Tech's lead to 21-14 early in the second half on Kyron Drones' 33-yard scoring pass to Ja'Ricious Hairston. After the Grizzlies punted on the opening possession of the second half, Lawler's pick-6 got Montana on the scoreboard before Wortham's TD catch with 13:37 to play capped a 14-play, 96-yard drive. Des Purnell had two interceptions, including a pick-6, for the Wildcats. Johnson finished 16-of-26 passing for 196 yards for Kansas State (3-4, 2-2 Big 12). Josh Hoover was 26-of-47 passing for 376 yards and three touchdowns for TCU (4-2, 1-2 Big 12). TCU used a seven-play, 75-yard drive in just 1:51 to draw within 28-14 late in the fourth quarter. Hoover found Chase Curtis on a 2-yard touchdown on fourth down. But Johnson found Jarend Bradley for a 12-yard touchdown to give K-State a 35-14 lead. Kansas State answered with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to Oakley, capping a six-play, 75-yard drive to even the score.
