Virginia Football   No. 16 Missouri may have delivered the knockout blow to Auburn coach Hugh Freeze. Beau Pribula scored on a 3-yard run in the second overtime, lifting Missouri to a 23-17 victory over reeling Auburn on Saturday night. Ahmad Hardy ran for 58 yards and two scores for Missouri (6-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference). The Tigers bounced back from a home loss to Alabama to beat the other team from the state. "We talked all week about how the game was played between the lines, not to let the exterior factors of the noise and the stadium affect us," Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz said. "The guys did a great job, and I just thought there was a refusal to lose."

Missouri got a defensive stop on fourth down on the final possession in overtime to seal the one-possession victory. "This just sucks," Freeze said. "This stinks, and there's nothing you can say to make anyone feel better in that locker room. Our fans are incredible, and we'd love to be at Toomer's (Corner) with them right now. But we're still obviously not finding ways to win games." Auburn has dropped 11 of its last 13 SEC games, and Freeze is 5-15 in league play. Pribula threw for 252 yards, with two interceptions, and ran for 28 more. Hardy's short run with 5:07 to go in regulation tied the game at 17. Auburn (3-4, 0-4) intercepted Pribula's pass in the final drive of regulation to send it to overtime, but Alex McPherson missed a field goal on Auburn's first possession. It was his third miss of the night. Blake Craig missed a winning attempt on the other end for Missouri. Auburn opened the scoring with Jackson Arnold scoring from a yard out. But coach Hugh Freeze's team - like so many other times in his three seasons - had trouble moving the ball for most of the game. Arnold finished with 207 yards passing and his first interception of the season. Freeze, however, has hopeful they can turn it around. "If you look at this stretch of games, they were all really good teams," Freeze said. "And we were really close. Eventually they'll start to flip our way." Jeremiah Cobb had 111 yards on the ground. Cam Coleman caught six passes for 108 yards. - Missouri/AP College Football

BYU Football   Bear Bachmeier had 229 yards of offense while throwing for a touchdown and running for another score to rally No. 15 BYU to a 24-21 victory over No. 23 Utah on Saturday night. LJ Martin added 122 yards on the ground to help the Cougars (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) remain unbeaten and beat their Holy War rivals for a third straight time. BYU has won three straight in the rivalry series for the first time since winning four straight from 1989 to 1992. "I've been a part of all three of those wins," senior safety Tanner Wall said. "To be able to say, leaving this place, I never lost to Utah, I'll wear that with a lot of pride for the rest of my life." Devon Dampier threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns for Utah (5-2, 2-2). Daniel Bray added a career-high 121 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. The Utes surrendered 14 straight points after taking their first lead less than a minute into the fourth quarter. "Did some really good things tonight," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said. "Outrushed them, outthrew them, out first downed them, but we didn't score more points than they did."

Utah went up 14-10 when Bray cut to the sideline and raced 49 yards untouched. BYU charged back in front on its ensuing drive, going up 17-14 when Parker raced in from 12 yards out on a jet sweep. Dampier threw an interception to Wall on Utah's ensuing drive. Bachmeier turned the turnover into points when he dragged three would-be tacklers into the end zone at the end of a 22-yard run, giving the Cougars a 24-14 lead with 4:22 left. "We're not happy," Dampier said. "We know what our team is capable of. We had aspirations to be undefeated after our first loss, so it hurts us right now." BYU scratched out a 10-7 halftime lead after the Utes turned it over on downs twice and muffed a punt. "We knew it would take all three phases to do this, and we knew it would be a fight to the end," BYU coach Kalani Sitake said. - BYU/AP College Football

Curry College Football   Montie Quinn of Division III Curry College ran for 522 yards in a 71-27 win over Nichols College to set the NCAA all-division rushing record Saturday. Quinn carried the ball 20 times, and eight of them went for more than 25 yards. His school-record seven touchdowns came on runs of 85, 84, 76, 64, 58, 30 and 2 yards. "I'm just humbled and grateful," Quinn said. "Breaking the record is something I never imagined coming into today. The O-line was dominating all game; receivers were blocking like crazy and coaches put us in position to make plays. This belongs to all of us; I just happened to be the one carrying the ball." Quinn became the first college football player in recorded history to rush for more than 500 yards in a game.

The previous Division III record was 465 yards by Cartel Brook of Heidelberg (Ohio) in 2013. Other NCAA records are 425 by South Dakota Mines' Connor Silveria (2018) in Division II, 437 yards by North Carolina A&T's Maurice Hicks (2001) in the Championship Subdivision and 427 yards by Oklahoma's Samaje Perine (2014) in the Bowl Subdivision. The NAIA record is 409 yards by Eastern Montana's Derrick Williams in 1976. "What Montie did today was nothing short of amazing," Curry coach Todd Parsons said. "Breaking the NCAA rushing record is a monumental achievement. I think he'd be the first to tell you, records like this don't happen alone. Our offensive line played lights out, our receivers blocked downfield and our quarterback made great decisions." - AP College Football

Austin beat Nicholls 34-7 on a rain-soaked Saturday night for its fifth consecutive win. Nicholls (1-6, 1-2 Southland Conference) has lost six in a row since a 20-6 win over Incarnate Word in the season opener. Jacob Hand kicked a 54-yard field goal for Stephen F. Austin (5-2, 3-0) to open the scoring less than two minutes into the game, Rutherford scored on a 2-yard run late in the first quarter and Wimbley ran for a 5-yard TD to make it 16-0 early in the second.

Sam Vidlak was 17-of-25 passing for 179 yards and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Clayton Wayland. The Colonels finished with 187 total yards, 56 rushing.   Pittsburgh Football   Quarterback Mason Heintschel ran for one score, Kenny Johnson returned a punt 66 yards for another, Trey Butkowski kicked three field goals and Pittsburgh beat Syracuse 30-13 on Saturday night. Pitt (5-2, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) won its third straight with true freshman Heintschel, while the Orange (3-4, 1-3) dropped their third straight, all with LSU transfer Rickie Collins as the starter quarterback following a season-ending injury to Steve Angeli. With the win, Pitt continued its dominance over the Orange. Pitt has won seven of eight and 20 of the last 24 games in the series that has been played since 1955. Pitt and Syracuse struggled on offense, combining for 28 first downs and 472 yards. The teams combined for 25 penalties. "Our kids weren't very excited after they came to the locker room. I had to get them going. I had to do a dance just to get them fired up because it's hard to win on the road," Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said. But Narduzzi acknowledged his team "did not play as well as we needed to play." "I think we sputtered. We didn't protect the quarterback at all...We didn't get the run game going." Heintschel was 13 of 24 for 143 yards passing with one pick and was sacked seven times. Ja'Kyrian Turner had 42 yards rushing for the Panthers. "We've got to clean that up," Narduzzi said of the pass protection. Collins was 16-of-32 passing for 126 yards and threw two touchdown passes but had three interceptions to go with a team-leading 37 yards on the ground.

Johntay Cook had seven receptions for 66 yards for the Orange. Each team took advantage of quarterback miscues in the first half. Following an interception by Pitt cornerback Tamon Lynum, Heintschel ran the ball up the gut untouched for a 36-yard score for the first points of the game. Late in the first quarter, Syracuse cornerback Davien Kerr picked off a Heintschel pass and returned it to the Pitt 12. Two plays later, Collins hit Darrell Gill Jr. with an 11-yard touchdown strike tying the game at 7. It was all Pitt after that. Pitt delivered a knockout blow to close the half. Following a three-and-out, Johnson returned a Jack Stonehouse punt 66 yards to paydirt with just two seconds remaining, giving the Panthers a 17-7 lead at intermission. - Pitt/AP College Football

Texas Tech Football   Brendan Sorsby threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score and No. 24 Cincinnati took control late and beat Oklahoma State 49-17 on Saturday night for its sixth straight victory. Sorsby completed 20 of 29 passes for 270 yards and Cyrus Allen caught two touchdown passes and ran for a score for Cincinnati (6-1, 4-0 Big 12). They paced an offense that gained 427 yards. Matthew McDoom returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter - the longest interception return in school history - to help the Bearcats become bowl eligible for the first time in coach Scott Satterfield's three years at Cincinnati. "Congratulations men," Satterfield told the team in the locker room. "We're going bowling, baby!" The Bearcats are positioned to do much more than merely go to a bowl game. Cincinnati and BYU are the only remaining unbeaten teams in league play after Arizona State's win over previously unbeaten Texas Tech on Saturday. "But we want to go to one of them good bowls, so we've got to keep winning, right?" Satterfield said to the team. "We've got to keep this thing going." Rodney Fields Jr. ran for a career-high 163 yards and caught three passes for 27 yards for the Cowboys (1-6, 0-4). An energetic crowd that showed up despite the team's struggles couldn't save Oklahoma State from its sixth straight defeat.

It was the Cowboys' fourth straight loss since firing coach Mike Gundy, and all have been by double digits. "Just some little minor miscues that turned catastrophic, you know what I mean," Oklahoma State interim coach Doug Meacham said. "It's like a little bitty thing that just completely implodes on us." Sorsby threw all three of his touchdown passes in the first half to help Cincinnati take a 28-10 lead. The Bearcats scored four touchdowns on four possessions in the first half. Fields broke loose for a 20-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 28-17 before Cincinnati took charge. - Cincinnati/AP College Football

Alabama Football   Zabien Brown returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown as time expired in the first half and No. 6 Alabama rolled to a 37-20 victory over No. 11 Tennessee in the rivalry known as the "Third Saturday in October." Brown's pick gave the Tide a 23-7 lead and was all Alabama's defense needed while turning in its best performance of the season. The Tide (6-1, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) held the nation's highest-scoring offense to 410 yards, well below its 529-yard average. "I saw open field and just started running," Brown said. "Looked at the time. If I get tackled, then the time goes out. I had to find a way to get into the end zone. It feels great to go out there and perform." Ty Simpson completed 19 of 29 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.

He led two TD drives of 90-plus yards as the Crimson Tide won their sixth consecutive game, including four in a row against ranked opponents. Alabama became the only team in SEC history to beat four straight ranked opponents with no open dates. Joey Aguilar completed 28 of 44 passes for 268 yards, with a touchdown and an interception for Tennessee (5-2, 2-2). DeSean Bishop ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns. "We just got to be us," Bishop said. "You look at our two losses, a lot of chances, a lot of self-inflicted wounds. We're hurting ourselves. We're making these games a lot harder than they should be. In this league, the margins are very small." Tennessee had a chance to seize momentum in the third quarter following a touchdown and then forcing Simpson to fumble near midfield. But Alabama's defense forced a three-and-out, and a 99-yard touchdown drive iced the game. Alabama's final touchdown, a 4-yard run by Daniel Hill with 5:49 remaining, ignited cigar smoke from every direction inside Byrant-Denny Stadium - a tradition for the victors in this rivalry. Simpson also lit one up as he left the field. Alabama prevented back Tennessee from winning consecutive games in the series for the first time since 2003-04. Alabama has won 17 of 19 in the rivalry. "The biggest thing for our guys is how committed to the process they are," DeBoer said. "You can see it. You can hear it. Pads are popping every day in practice. They have an edge to them still and haven't lost it." - Alabama/AP College Football

UCLA Football   Mateen Bhaghani kicked a 23-yard field goal with two seconds to play, and UCLA beat Maryland 20-17 Saturday night to extend its improbable season turnaround with a third consecutive victory. Nico Iamaleava passed for 221 yards and led three scoring drives in the final six minutes despite going down with an apparent knee injury during that wild stretch for the Bruins (3-4, 3-1 Big Ten), who managed to stay on the upswing in their roller coaster of a season. "I think it's all about belief, (and) the guys believe," UCLA interim head coach Tim Skipper said. "There's nothing that happened throughout the game that's going to take our confidence away, and you don't really know that until you get in a tight game like that. I found out today that these guys believe."

Iamaleava threw a go-ahead, 14-yard touchdown pass to Mikey Matthews with 3:33 to play, and Bhaghani's first field goal put the Bruins up 17-10 with 2:09 to play shortly after Scooter Jackson intercepted Malik Washington's pass deep in Maryland territory. But Washington, who passed for 210 yards, led the Terrapins (4-3, 1-3) on a dramatic drive, hitting Jalil Farooq for an 8-yard TD with 40 seconds left. Iamaleava, who appeared to have a serious injury only moments earlier, returned to the field and drove the Bruins 68 yards in 31 seconds. "I knew with Nico, when I saw him start to walk off and his face started to come back normal, I was like, "Hey, we have a shot here," Skipper said with a grin. Iamaleava completed two passes for 33 yards before Anthony Frias - who made an early 55-yard touchdown run for UCLA - made a 35-yard run to the Maryland 5 to set up Bhaghani's tiebreaking field goal. "It just shows how much of a leader (Iamaleava) is," Matthews said. "He came back and pushed through. He has that dog in him, no matter what." The Bruins rallied to win despite committing three turnovers in these schools' first meeting since 1955, including an interception returned 8 yards for a touchdown by Maryland's Jamare Glasker in the third quarter. South Florida (6-1, 3-0 AAC) got touchdown receptions from Jeremiah Koger, Jonathan Echols and Wyatt Sullivan. The Bulls scored the final 27 points to turn a 21-13 lead into a blowout victory.   Texas Football   Mason Shipley kicked a 45-yard field goal in overtime and No. 21 Texas beat Kentucky 16-13 on Saturday night. "Once a year, you have a culture win, where the game's not pretty, but because the team is so close, finds a way to win the game," he said. "These guys found a way to win when the game was sliding in the wrong direction." Shipley also kicked a 39-yard field goal with a minute remaining to give the Longhorns (5-2, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) a 13-10 lead. Kentucky (2-4, 0-4) tied the score at 13-all on Jacob Kauwe's 45-yard field goal with 9 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. The Longhorns managed just 179 total yards, but used two big punt returns by Ryan Niblett to hold off the Wildcats. The Longhorns had a goal-line stand at their own 1-yard line, stopping the Wildcats on four straight running plays within the 5-yard line.

Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian praised his team's ability to overcome the struggling Wildcats. "Absolute credit to our defense," Sarkisian said. "What a tremendous goal-line stand in overtime. What a tremendous job by our special teams..half the SEC lost today, and we were on the other half that won." Niblett's 43-yard return in the fourth quarter set up Shipley's late field goal. Shipley also connected on a 53-yard field goal in the third quarter. Texas quarterback Arch Manning threw for 132 yards, while running back Quintrevion Wisner ran for Texas' lone touchdown in the second quarter. Kentucky's defense limited Texas to 93 total yards in the first half. The Longhorns scored their only touchdown following Niblett's 45-yard punt return on DJ Campbell's fumble recovery in the end zone with 6:22 remaining in the first half. Trailing 10-3 in the fourth quarter, Kentucky tied the score on quarterback Cutter Boley's 16-yard run with 12:04 remaining. Boley threw for 258 yards and rushed for for 27 more for the Wildcats, who doubled the Longhorns' offensive output with 395 yards. "What a win," Sarkisian said. "I've said this all along.
