Northern Illinois Football   Taron Dickens threw four touchdown passes and Western Carolina beat Chattanooga 35-28 on Saturday night for the Catamounts' sixth straight win. The Mocs (4-5, 3-2 Southern Conference) rallied to get within seven on Justus Durant's 8-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter and were driving in the final minute, reaching the Catamounts' 5-yard line before Cam'Ron Dabney intercepted Camden Orth. Three of Dickens' TD tosses went to James Tyre in the first half and Western Carolina (6-3, 5-0) led 21-7 at the break before the Mocs rallied to tie on a pair of third-quarter touchdowns.

The Catamounts retook the lead for good in the final minute of the third quarter on Markel Townsend's 2-yard run that came after a quick 60-yard drive sparked by a 37-yard completion to Malik Knight to the Chattanooga 6. Dickens' 10-yard TD pass to Michael Rossin extended the lead to 35-21. The Mocs had rallied on Orth's 40-yard TD toss to Nathaniel Eberly-Rodriguez and the quarterback's 4-yard run late in the third quarter. Dickens was 18-of-29 passing for 225 yards.   North Carolina Central Football   Chauncey Spikes totaled 208 yards receiving and caught three of Walker Harris' four touchdown passes in leading North Carolina Central's 35-14 win over Howard on Saturday. Harris, the Eagles' senior quarterback, passed for 321 yards and had five total touchdowns for the second time in his career. Spikes, also a senior, has only one other 100-yard receiving game in his career - 113 yards against East Texas A&M earlier this season - and the three touchdowns are a career high.

The Eagles (6-3, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) had Harris touchdown passes of 13 and 80 yards to Spikes and Harris added a 13-yard scoring run for a 21-0 halftime lead. They connected again on an 8-yard TD pass late in the third quarter. Harris also hit Refeno Vangates for a 30-yard touchdown. Arthur Rodgers Jr. rushed for 126 yards for the Eagles. Tyriq Starks accounted for both touchdowns for Howard (4-5, 1-1), running 1 yard for a score and passing 4 yards to Zaden Jackson for the other.   Minnesota Football   Drake Lindsey scored on a 3-yard run in overtime and Minnesota denied Michigan State its first Big Ten Conference win of the season with a 23-20 victory on Saturday. Michigan State (3-6, 0-6) had the ball first in OT but had to settle for Martin Connington's 36-yard field goal for a 20-17 lead. A pass interference call on third-and-4 kept the drive alive for Minnesota (6-3, 4-2) and Lindsey capped the rally when he scored on a third-and-goal rush to the left. It was a wild finish after the Golden Gophers took a 10-0 lead into halftime.

Fame Ijeboi gained 49 yards on a first-down rush up the middle and then capped a five-play, 63-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to give Minnesota (6-3, 4-2) a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter. The Golden Gophers sacked Alessio Milivojevic three times in the period, but the redshirt freshman completed seven of his first nine passes for 71 yards in his first start. Michigan State junior Aidan Chiles had made 20 consecutive starts, but coach Jonathan Smith turned to Milivojevic after a rough start in conference play. Brady Denaburg kicked a 30-yard field goal in the second quarter but missed one from 33 with 17 seconds left as Minnesota built a 10-point lead at halftime. Milivojevic found Rodney Bullard Jr. along the right sidelines for a 71-yard touchdown three plays into the third quarter to get the Spartans within 10-7. Michigan State took its first lead of the game at 17-10 with 1:52 remaining. Elijah Tau-Tolliver gained 85 yards on a first-down run and Brandon Tullis ran it in from a yard out two plays later. Lindsey used nine plays to move the Gophers 65 yards, scoring on a 2-yard run with 29 seconds remaining to send it to OT. Lindsey completed 26 of 39 passes for 197 yards, while Ijeboi totaled 108 yards on 17 rushes. - Minnesota/AP College Football

Texas Tech Football   Behren Morton threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns in his return from an injury, J'Koby Williams ran for 135 yards and a score, and No. 13 Texas Tech romped past sloppy, mistake-prone Kansas State 43-20 on Saturday. Cameron Dickey also had a touchdown run for the Red Raiders (8-1, 5-1 Big 12), who forced five turnovers while snapping an eight-game losing streak against the Wildcats (4-5, 3-3) with their first win in Manhattan since the 2008 season. "That was a huge win," said Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire, who arrived for his postgame news conference wearing a T-shirt with a photo of former Kansas State linebacker-turned-Red Raiders athletic director Kirby Hocutt across the front of it. "This is no disrespect to K-State," McGuire said. "It's a tip of my hat to my AD who played linebacker here, and it's been a long time since we beat Kansas State...I know it was a big win for him and a huge win for this team." Texas Tech is off to its best start in conference play since that year, when Mike Leach guided the team to the Cotton Bowl. "Winning the turnover battle is a huge thing for us," said Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, the preseason Big 12 defensive player of the year, who forced two of the fumbles.

"And we knew we had to do that to win." Avery Johnson threw for 199 yards and a touchdown while running for 86 and two more scores. But Kansas State's quarterback also threw two interceptions and was responsible for a late fumble that Texas Tech returned for a touchdown. Along with the slew of turnovers, the Wildcats also were 0 for 4 on fourth down. "I thought our guys battled on defense," Kansas State coach Chris Klieman said. "We just didn't have enough." Morton, who had been out of the lineup with a leg injury, opened the game with an interception of his own. But Johnson threw a pick right back, and it was the beginning of a messy first half in which both failed on fourth down, Kansas State lost a fumble and Texas Tech nearly did the same. - Texas Tech/AP College Football

Indiana Football   Fernando Mendoza threw for a touchdown and ran for one, and No. 2 Indiana remained undefeated with a 55-10 rout of Maryland on Saturday. Mendoza recovered from an early interception, and he also had to play most of the game without his top target. Star receiver Elijah Sarratt left in the first quarter with hamstring tightness, ending his nation-leading streak of 46 consecutive games with a catch. Still, this was another one-sided game for the Hoosiers (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten), who since winning at Oregon have added victories over Michigan State, UCLA and Maryland by a combined 120 points. Indiana outrushed Maryland 367-37. "It seemed like they wanted to take away our pass game, take away our RPO game," Mendoza said. "They gave a lot of depth on all the pass concepts we threw at them, and that opened up the run game." The Terrapins (4-4, 1-4) lost their fourth straight.

They had a chance to make it interesting early, intercepting Mendoza on the first drive and taking over at the Indiana 12-yard line. Maryland managed only a field goal out of that, and after forcing a three-and-out and again getting the ball in Hoosiers territory, the Terps failed to score at all. "The defense has all year long risen to the occasion when their backs are against the wall," Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti said. "It wasn't perfect tonight defensively, trust me. Open-field tackling wasn't very good, they had some explosive plays. But there's a lot of good things that are on tape." Mendoza scored on a 7-yard run before the first quarter was over, and his 22-yard scoring pass to Omar Cooper Jr. made it 17-3. It was 20-3 at halftime. - Indiana/AP College Football
