Memphis wide receiver Calvin Austin III began his football career as a walk-on in 2017. He was a track standout hoping to earn a football scholarship. Four years later, Austin became one of the most prolific receivers in program history. On Monday, he ended his Tigers career by announcing he was opting out of the Hawaii Bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft. "The only word that can accurately explain how I feel is humbled. I am humbled by the city embracing and showing love to a walk on. Your support has been unmatched. By creating a brotherhood with my teammates across the years is something that I will cherish forever," Austin wrote in his announcement on Twitter. Austin, who grew up in Memphis and attended Harding Academy, ends his career with 2,541 yards and 22 touchdowns on 156 catches. He also leaves Memphis tied for second in touchdown receptions with Carlos Singleton and fourth in receiving yards. He also had three rushing touchdowns and two punt return TDs, including a 94-yard touchdown this season in the Tigers' 31-29 win over Mississippi State. - Memphis Commercial Appeal
