The conga line of Michigan State football players heading for the NCAA transfer portal paused Tuesday. But quarterback Theo Day joined the procession Wednesday, becoming the ninth member of the Spartans to head for the exit since the conclusion of spring practice Saturday. Day, a redshirt sophomore from Canton, didn't play last season and appeared to be leapfrogged on the depth chart by four of his teammates - Payton Thorne, Anthony Russo, Hampton Fay and Noah Kim. All received more reps than Day during scrimmage periods last Saturday. A former three-star recruit out of Dearborn Divine Child, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound Day signed with Michigan State in December 2017. He appeared in two games in 2019, playing six snaps and completing two of three pass attempts for 12 yards. Day is the 26th member of the team to enter the transfer portal since last November as Tucker has reshaped the roster. - Lansing State Journal
