  12/09/20 - QB Brock PurdySr/2022, Iowa State

Brock Purdy went into the locker room a month ago against Baylor after an erratic half of football in which he looked like a quarterback engulfed in chaos. He came back out as the picture of precision. The Iowa State signal-caller has been brilliant since that three-interception first half against the Bears, leading the Cyclones to a perfect finish of the regular season, including Saturday's 42-6 victory over West Virginia at Jack Trice Stadium. The junior now leads his team to its first-ever Big 12 championship game with the Cyclones (8-2, 8-1) finishing the regular season atop the league standings. "To finally be able to get to the game we all dream of playing in is sweet. It's special," Purdy, who was 20 of 23 for 247 yards and three touchdowns, said. "I feel like I'm in a good spot. I trust my teammates. I trust my coaches. I trust in myself and my game.

"Whatever we've got going right now, we're going to keep doing it, keep getting better and see if we can get it done in the Big 12 championship." In the 14 quarters since that Baylor first half, Purdy is 70 of 91 (76.9%) with 10 touchdowns, 903 yards and no interceptions. "He's been incredible," Iowa State coach Matt Campbell said. "We've played like he's played down the stretch. "Maybe one of the great leaders of all-time in the history of this school. He has played as close to what he's capable of playing in every game down the stretch. It's been really fun to watch him. He's the difference. He's really special." - Des Moines Register
