An injury to Alan Bowman in Saturday's loss at Kansas State disrupted the Texas Tech quarterback picture for the third year in a row. Maybe this setback won't be as long-term as the collapsed lung and the cracked collarbone that caused Bowman to miss 13 games and the second halves of two others over the previous two seasons. Either way, the Red Raiders developed some confidence Saturday in his backup. Discussing Bowman's injured right ankle, Tech coach Matt Wells said Monday, "Nothing's broke. Nothing's fractured. He's day to day." But Wells and offensive coordinator David Yost indicated Bowman is likely to miss practice time this week and that Henry Colombi could get more snaps than usual to prepare. Tech (1-2, 0-2 in the Big 12) visits No. 24 Iowa State (2-1, 2-0) for a game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Asked if the quarterbacks' snaps will be adjusted this week, Wells said, "If he doesn't practice today, then you've got to." "We normally are a on a two-thirds/one-third rotation with the one and two quarterback throughout practice," Yost said. "Could he get closer to 50-50 this week? It's very possible. - Lubbock Avalanche Journal
