Draft Scout College Football Player News

Henry Ruggs is headed to an organization with a long history of loving wide receivers with big-time speed. The Las Vegas Raiders selected the Alabama wide receiver with the No. 12 pick in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday night. Ruggs, who posted the fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL scouting combine since 2017, ranks third in Crimson Tide history with 24 career touchdown catches. The Montgomery native had 40 catches for 746 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior for Alabama last season. "I like him a lot," an SEC personnel figure recently told of Ruggs. "Speed makes him hard to cover. If used right, he can be a lot like Tyreek Hill." It's the second year in a row the Raiders have selected a Crimson Tide player in the first round after taking former Alabama star running back Josh Jacobs in the first round of last year's NFL draft. - Birmingham News
