Texas Tech went 4-8 last year and a Heisman campaign is probably the last thing the Red Raiders are thinking about. Despite a young roster, Texas Tech has the bare bones of an explosive offense next season and Alan Bowman will be the driving force. When he's been healthy, Bowman has been the nation's leading passer in terms of yardage over the last two seasons. In 11 career games, Bowman has put up 3,658 yards and 23 touchdowns in his first two seasons. With another year under his belt building chemistry with his young receiving corps featuring Erik Ezukanma and KeSean Carter, plus incoming four-star freshman Loic Fouonji. Bowman has outside potential to get an invite to New York and possibly hold up the trophy at the end of the season.

For Bowman to be the first ever Heisman winner in Texas Tech's history, something magical would need to happen. The highest any Red Raider has finished in the Heisman voting came in 2008 when Graham Harrell finished fourth and Michael Crabtree finished fifth. Texas Tech finished the regular season 11-1 that year with its only loss coming against Oklahoma. Harrell threw for 5,111 yards and 45 touchdowns while Crabtree caught 97 passes for 1,165 yards and 19 touchdowns. - Dallas Morning News
