  Weaver - the Panthers' 2018 leader in sacks (6.5) and tackles for loss (14) - said it's "not a question" if he'll be fully healed from a torn ACL in time for the 2020 campaign. He's confident he'll be full-go in the fall after going down last August and missing the 2019 season. And he's looking forward to eventually linking up with a front four that guided Pitt's nationally ranked sack brigade. "I think I can step in and come back to where I left off," Weaver said. "Everybody at camp and on the team knows where I was at before I got hurt, and they know where I'm at now. And at the end of it, I didn't really lose a step. It's just going to keep getting better until August when I need to be ready."

Keyword there being "need." Weaver doesn't need to be ready for contact in March. So he's mostly taking it easy this spring. The redshirt senior practiced with the team for the first time Monday, when Pat Narduzzi's squad opened spring camp. "Helmet was tight," Weaver said with a laugh. "Hasn't been worn in a while." For what it's worth, though, he looked crisp. He knocked out individual drills, showcasing the first-step quickness and hand power that gave offensive tackles fits in previous seasons. - Pittsburgh Post Gazette
