Indiana backup quarterback Jack Tuttle announced Monday that he will transfer at the end of this season. Coach Tom Allen confirmed the news at the start of his weekly news conference, explaining the two spoke last week and that Tuttle, a team captain, wo uld remain No. 2 on the depth chart. The 23-year-old Tuttle is in his sixth college season and has one year of eligibility remaining. "We had an open, honest talk about his time here and he has a desire to want to play his final year. I appreciate that," Allen said. "He's been a great leader for us, have a lot of love and respect for Jack. He's earned two degrees here. It's a unique situation, for sure, but I think it (staying this season) speaks to his character and what we’re all about here." The Ca lifornia prep star made four starts with the Hoosiers after transferring from Utah in 2019. He replaced the injured Michael Penix in the sixth game of the eight-game 2020 season and closed out that year as the starter, then started two more games - losse s to No. 10 Michigan State and No. 5 Ohio State - last season. Tuttle has completed 95 of 170 passes for 819 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions during his career with the Hoosiers. Indiana (3-4, 1-3 Big Ten) has lost four in a row. The anno uncement comes one week after Allen fired offensive line coach and run game coordinator Darren Hiller. - AP College Football

Dalton Kincaid turned in the best receiving performance of the year in Utah's win over Southern California - and the best in 40 years for a tight end. Kincaid caught a national season-high 16 passes in Saturday's 43-42 win, the most by a tight end since Northwestern's Jon Harvey had 17 against Michigan in 1982, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Kincaid's catches added up to 234 yards, the fifth-most for any receiver in the Bowl Subdivision this season and most by a tight end since at least 2000, according to Sportradar. Kincaid had 23 receptions over the first six games, never more than seven in any. Cameron Rising and Kincaid connected every time Rising targeted him, and Kincaid had 109 yards after contact. "He's an easy guy to throw the ball to," Risin g said. "You see what he did tonight. When he touches the ball, he makes plays and he extends them." The initial statistics report for the game listed Kincaid with 15 catches. He was credited with 16 following a postgame review. Kincaid leads Utah in cat ches (38), receiving yards (541) and receiving touchdowns (6). He's among five Power Five tight ends to lead their teams in catches and yards. - AP College Football
