Prince Kollie scored on a blocked punt, Benjamin Morrison returned an interception 96 yards for a touchdown and had another interception to set up another score as Notre Dame earned its second straight win over a ranked opponent, beating No. 5 Clemson 35 -14 on Saturday night. It was just the third win over a top-10 opponent for Notre Dame (6-3) in its past 10 games since 2018. The other wins were against No. 8 Stanford in 2018 and top-ranked Clemson in 2020. Just as in that 47-40 victory two years ago, fans stormed the field to celebrate. The loss ended a 14-game winning streak by the Tigers (8-1), the longest active streak among FBS teams. It was Clemson's fifth road loss since 2015. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney pulled DJ Uiagalelei for a second straigh t game, even though he had completed 13 of 19 passes for 78 yards when he was replaced by Cade Klubnik late in the third quarter. This time it backfired, though, as Klubnik was pressured by Justin Ademilola and his pass was intercepted by Morrison at the 14-yard line. The Irish scored three plays later on Audric Estime's 2-yard run to make it 21-0.Uiagabele returned in the next series and drove the Tigers to the Irish 19-yard line before Morrison intercepted the pass to Joseph Ngata at the 4-yard line and returned it for a TD. With winds of 20 mph, and Drew Pyne struggling in recent games, the Irish leaned heavily on their run game, even though Clemson entered the game ranked seventh nationally against the run, giving up 87.9 yards a game. Logan Diggs rushed for 114 yards on 17 carries and the Irish compiled 263 yards rushing, the most rushing yards allowed by Clemson this season. The previous high was 206 yards by Florida State. It was the second-highest rushing game for the Irish this season. The Irish improved to 5-0 when they rush for more than 200 yards. Pyne was 9 of 17 passing for 85 yards and added a 5-yard rushing touchdown. It was the fourth straight game that Pyne failed to complete more than 50% of his passes after completing 74% o f his passes in his first three starts. - Notre Dame/AP College Football

Miyan Williams ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 2 Ohio State got all it could handle from Northwestern in a 21-7 victory on a rainy and windy Saturday. The Buckeyes (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten, No. 2 CFP) came in tied with Tennessee in the AP poll and trailing only the Volunteers in the season's first College Football Playoff rankings. But what figured to be an easy win turned into a struggle. Ohio State didn't score until the closing minutes of the first half, when Emeka Egbuka ran it in from the 15 , with the rain and whipping wind not to mention Northwestern's physical play creating havoc. Williams gave Ohio State the lead with a 27-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He made it 21-7 when he scored from the 2 with about 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the game after C.J. Stroud broke a 44-yard run, and the Buckeyes came away with a tougher-than-expected win.Stroud, the Big Ten leader in yards passing, set a career low with 76. He completed just 10 of 26 passes in his only game this year withou t a touchdown throw. Stroud, who came in with minus-4 yards rushing, ran for 79, helping the Buckeyes pick up their 10th straight win against Northwestern and 34th in the past 35 meetings. The Wildcats (1-8, 1-5) dropped their eighth straight, matching t heir worst skid since the 1998 team lost eight in a row. They are 5-17 since falling to Ohio State in the 2020 conference championship game. Evan Hull ran for 122 yards and a touchdown. Brendan Sullivan threw for 79, completing 10 of 14 passes, and the W ildcats remained winless since beating Nebraska in Ireland to start the season. Ohio State came came in averaging 48.9 points - second only to Tennessee - and hadn't scored fewer than 44 in a Big Ten game. But the ugly conditions and Northwestern's physi cal play in the trenches made for a tough time. - AP College Football

Syracuse football cornerback Garrett Williams will miss the remainder of the 2022 season with a knee injury, coach Dino Babers said Monday. Williams left Syracuse's 41-24 loss against Notre Dame in the second quarter. He was injured on Ja'Had Carter's in terception return near the SU bench and was later using crutches on the sideline. Williams tore his ACL, Babers said. The cornerback had previously suffered a thigh bruise in the Orange's win over N.C. State in Week 7.He also went down in the seco nd quarter of that game. Williams did not play against Clemson due to that injury despite warming up and being in uniform. "He is one of our leaders," Babers said. "Garrett is a cool cat. He's Syracuse through and through. Nothing but Orange running thro ugh his veins, and he wants nothing but the best for his family, and we want nothing but the best for him. We will stand beside him, and there's no doubt he will stand beside us." Isaiah Johnson has been the predominant for replacement for Williams in th e time he's missed thus far. - The Post-Standard

Injuries are starting to decimate North Carolina, particularly on the defensive line where on Monday the school announced edge rusher Noah Taylor, arguably the team's best pass rusher, and defensive end Des Evans will miss the rest of the season. Add in nose tackle Ray Vohasek, who was declared out for the season a week ago, and the Tar Heels have lost almost their entire starting front four on defense. The bad news spread to offense too, as running back Caleb Hood will also be out for the rest of the s eason with an upper body injury. Hood was injured in the first quarter of Carolina's 42-24 win over Pitt on Saturday. He had emerged as the starter and gained 250 yards on 43 carries this season.Taylor was also injured in the first quarter against Pitt. On Monday, he had his right knee in a brace and needed crutches to walk. Taylor started every game this season at the Tar Heels' 'Jack' position, which is essentially an edge rusher. He led the team with 3.5 sacks and ranked eighth in tackles with 28. It was Taylor who initiated the tackle on App State's two-point conversion to preserve the win for Carolina. "We've got to thank him for all he's done," Brown said. "He's a tremendous leader. He's one of the reasons that our defense has improved so much." - Raleigh News Observer

Syracuse defensive back Garrett Williams, who led the Atlantic Coast Conference in pass breakups in each of the previous two seasons, will miss the rest of this season for the No. 22 Orange because of a knee injury. Coach Dino Babers said Monday that Wil liams has a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Williams was injured in the second quarter against North Carolina State on Oct. 15 and didn't play in the Orange's 27-21 loss at Clemson just over a week ago. He was hurt again in the first half of a 41-24 hom e loss to Notre Dame on Saturday and needed help leaving the field and entering the medical tent. He returned to the sideline on crutches. "Garrett wanted to stay in, Garrett wanted to play, he's a competitor." Babers said. "But sometimes we've got to pr otect people from themselves, and I wanted to make sure I protected my guy." Williams has 36 tackles, tied for third on the team, 1.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, three pass breakups and two timely interceptions that helpe d spur the Orange (6-2, 3-1 ACC) to a 6-0 start before their two-game skid. - AP College Football
