Jordan Travis knew midway through Florida State's football season that he wanted to come back for another year as the Seminoles quarterback. But the redshirt junior kept that decision to himself, waiting until after the regular season finale against Flor ida before announcing he would return for his senior season. He shared the news in the form of a 55-second highlight video posted on social media on Dec. 5. "So many memories have been made on this field," Travis said in the video taken in Doak Campbell Stadium. "And we're not done yet. See you in 2023." Travis was happy to share what he had known for quite some time. "It's a lot of weight off my shoulders," he said. "I've been thinking about it a lot. I just couldn't wait to get it out there, but I wan ted to ensure the timing was right." The decision to return comes on the heels of a career season for Travis, who accounted for 3,163 yards of total offense with 30 touchdowns while leading FSU to a 9-3 record and its first bowl appearance since the 2019 season. He became the first player in school history with at least 20 touchdown passes and 7 rushing touchdowns in a season. It wasn't long after Travis shared his decision with the public that several of his teammates followed suit. Linebacker Ta tum Bethune, offensive lineman Robert Scott, receiver Mycah Pittman and running back Trey Benson were among the Seminoles to commit to returning in 2023. For many of those coming back, their decisions were made easier with the return of Travis. "He told me he was coming back and I was like OK, I'll join you," said Benson, who led FSU with 965 rushing yards. Added Pittman: "The momentum is there and we know what we're capable of doing and we believe in Coach [Mike] Norvell and we believe in J. Travis and what he's capable of doing." - Orlando Sentinel

He made 10 starts this season in leading the Chants to 9-3 mark and a Sun Belt East Division title. It's game at Virginia on Nov. 19 was called off after the killing of three Cavalier football players. It then lost consecutive games to James Madison and Troy to close the season before coach Jamey Ch adwell left to become Liberty's head coach earlier this month. North Carolina State offensive coordinator Tim Beck was named to take over for Chadwell as head coach. "This has been extremely hard for me," McCall posted on Twitter. Lindsey Scott Jr. threw four touchdown passes to break a Football Championship Subdivision record and ran for two scores as seventh-seeded Incarnate Word rallied last to beat second-seeded Sacramento State 66-63 in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs on Friday night. It was the highest scoring FCS playoff game in history and Scott, who set a FCS record with his 59th touchdown pass of the season, was the difference as the Cardinals (12-1) handed the Hornets (12-1) their first loss. Incarnate Word will take a nine-game win streak on its road trip to play No. 3 seed North Dakota State in the semifinals next weekend.Scott, in his seventh season of college football with five different teams, surpassed the 57 touchdowns that Jeremiah Briscoe threw for Sam Houston State in 2016. Scott has at least one more game to catch NCAA all-time leader Bailey Zappe of Western Kentucky who threw 62 in 2021. LSU's Joe Burrow had 60 TD passes in 2019. Scott scored on a 64-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter and UIW upped its lead to 45-34. Sac State used a trick play - running back Cameron Skattebo’s 19-yard touchdown toss to Marshel Martin - to pull within four points with 12:08 left to play. Sac State recovered an onside kick, Jake Dunniway conn ected with Martin for a 14-yard touchdown on third-and-10 and the Hornets grabbed a 48-45 lead with 10:12 remaining. - Incarnate Word/AP College Football

Penn State's top target is off to the NFL. Parker Washington, the Nittany Lions' leading receiver this fall, declared for the 2023 NFL draft on Friday afternoon via social media. Washington will not play in the Rose Bowl after suffering an undisclosed se ason-ending injury in November. Despite that injury, Washington was Penn State's most prolific threat in the passing game. He finished the regular season with a team-leading 46 catches and 611 yards, plus two touchdowns. His 61.1 yards per game ranked si xth in the Big Ten.Washington leading the receiver room wasn't a surprise. In 2020, he earned freshman All-America honors with 36 catches, 489 yards and six touchdowns in a COVID-shortened nine-game season. Last fall, Washington was second in rece iving again to Jahan Dotson, this time recording 64 receptions, 820 yards and five scores. Washington was a big-play threat. The Texas native had 30 receptions of 20-plus yards (10 in 2022, 12 in 2021, eight in 2020). Most notably, Washington ripped off a memorable 59-yard catch-and-run touchdown against Ohio State in October - a play that made him stand out on the national stage opposite the Buckeyes' wideouts. - Penn Live
