Conner Harrell threw for 382 yards, accounted for five touchdowns that included a game-winning touchdown run with 1:30 left and Charlotte outlasted FCS No. 18 Monmouth 42-35 on Saturday. Monmouth ran eight plays on its final drive but advanced just 14 yards before turning the ball over on downs and Charlotte (1-2) killed the final seconds. Neither team ever led by more than a touchdown in the back-and-forth contest. Monmouth posted leads of 7-0, 14-7 and 21-14 before the 49ers scored three touchdowns in the third quarter and never trailed again. Monmouth knotted it at 28 and 35.

Harrell threw three touchdowns passes, two to E. Jai Mason who finished with 228 yards receiving on 10 receptions. Mason's 55-yard reception on the game-winning drive helped set up Harrell's go-ahead rush. Mason's 10 receptions are the second most in a game in school history. Victor Tucker caught 10 passes against North Texas in 2019 and in 2022 against Maryland. Austin Duke caught a program-record 12 passes in 2014 in games against Charleston Southern and The Citadel. Mason's 228 yards receiving are the third most behind Duke, who had 254 yards versus The Citadel and 251 against Charleston Southern in 2014. Monmouth's Derek Robinson was 36-of-49 passing for 410 yards with four touchdowns. - Charlotte/AP College Football

Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson was carted off the field and taken to a hospital after sustaining an injury with 58 seconds left in the first half against Notre Dame on Saturday. Anderson gave a thumps-up sign as he was driven off the field and Texas A&M said he had all feeling in all his limbs. Anderson was injured making a tackle on tight end Eli Raridon, with fellow Aggies defensive back Will Lee III making contact with Anderson and Raridon.

Anderson was motionless on the field for about 10 minutes as medical staff attended to him. Texas A&M players and Notre Dame players gathered in prayer at a hushed Notre Dame Stadium. The entire Texas A&M team ran over to Anderson - wearing a neck brace - after he was placed on the cart. Anderson is a 5-foot-10, 186-pound senior from Beaumont, Texas. He was tied for the team lead in tackles with six when he left the game, helping the No. 16 Aggies take a 28-24 halftime lead over the No. 8 Fighting Irish. - AP College Football

LSU star linebacker Whit Weeks was ejected from the third-ranked Tigers' game against Florida on Saturday night for targeting after a helmet-to-helmet hit on Florida receiver Vernell Brown III. The hit by the preseason All-America selection and team captain came at the end of 6-yard catch on Florida's third-play from scrimmage. The penalty gave Florida a first down on the LSU 29, and the Gators finished the drive with a field goal to open the scoring. In LSU's previous two games, Weeks made seven tackles, including half a sack and one tackle for loss. Weeks was replaced by his older brother, West Weeks, who lined up alongside Harold Perkins in two-linebacker formations. - AP College Football

Dylan Raiola threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns, Emmett Johnson ran for two scores and Nebraska hammered Houston Christian 59-7 Saturday. The Cornhuskers (3-0), wearing all-red uniforms for the first time since 1986, scored on their first eight full possessions against the Huskies (1-2) of the Football Championship Subdivision. Raiola, Johnson and most of the other starters didn't play in the second half as Nebraska improved to 16-0 against FCS opponents. The Huskers led 38-0 after rolling up 320 yards and holding Houston Christian to 52 in the first half. They finished with 554 yards.

They got their first fumble return for a touchdown since 2020 early in the second quarter when William Nwaneri picked up Jake Weir's fumble on a sack and ran 29 yards. Houston Christian ended Nebraska's bid for a second straight shutout in the middle of the third quarter. Xai'Shaun Edwards took a handoff, shook off Jaylen George's tackle attempt and went around the left side for a 45-yard touchdown. Lateef relieved Raiola to start the second half and was 5 of 5 for 126 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown to Cortez Mills Jr. Dane Key caught four passes for 104 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown, and Kwinten Ives ran for 72 of his 85 yards in the second half. Johnson added 78 yards on the ground. - Nebraska/AP College Football

Ta'Quan Roberson passed for 318 yards and three touchdowns, including a 22-yarder to Victor Snow with 1:03 remaining in the fourth quarter, and Buffalo rallied to beat Kent State 31-28 on Saturday for its fifth straight Mid-American Conference victory. Buffalo (2-1) won its MAC opener for the fourth straight season. The Bulls improved to 8-2 in their last 10 trips to Dix Stadium. Kent State (1-2, 0-1) lost its 24th straight game against a FBS opponent. The Golden Flashes have also lost 17 straight conference games and 11 consecutive home games against MAC foes.

The Golden Flashes took a 28-24 lead with 2:37 remaining after a 22-play, 93-yard drive that took over 12 minutes off the clock. But Buffalo marched down the field in eight plays, covering 76 yards, ending on a third-and-10 play that saw Snow wide open near the goal line. Snow has a receiving touchdown in six straight regular-season games dating to last season - making him the first UB player to have a touchdown catch in each of the first three games of the season since Alex Neutz in 2012. Al-Jay Henderson, who had a career-high 185 yards rushing against Kent State last season, carried it 15 times for 75 yards and a touchdown for Buffalo. Nik McMillan made six catches for 111 yards and a score. Freshman Dru DeShields threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start for Kent State. He also carried it 14 times for 37 yards and another score. - Buffalo/AP College Football

Louisiana-Lafayette safety Maurion Eleam exited Saturday's game at No. 25 Missouri, carted off the field on a backboard before being transported to University Hospital's emergency room with a lower body injury. The injury occurred with 10:53 left in the second quarter when Eleam absorbed a block from Missouri left tackle Cayden Green. Medical staff tended to Eleam for several minutes before he was transported to a backboard and his neck immobilized, then carted to an ambulance.

Eleam waved his right hand and gave a thumbs-up as he was carted off the field, and his teammates gathered at the spot of the injury. Earlier in the second quarter, Eleam delivered what appeared to be a momentum-changing play when he scooped up a fumble at the goal line by Missouri wide receiver Marquis Johnson, racing 100 yards for a touchdown. The fumble was overturned after a replay review, with officials ruling Johnson broke the goal line with possession of the ball before the fumble. - AP College Football

Steve Angeli threw for 417 yards and five touchdowns, and added another on the ground, tying Jim Brown and Eric Dungey as the only Syracuse players with six touchdowns in a game, as the Orange rolled over Colgate 66-24 Friday. With the win, Syracuse (2-1) is 23-0 against FCS opponents. The victory was the program's 18th straight over the Raiders (0-3). "Just the fact that you said Jim Brown, and that's amazing to say that anybody that joins anything with Jim Brown. I mean, they should just go home and be thankful, right?" Syracuse head coach Fran Brown said. "I think football, Syracuse football, it's Jim Brown, (number) 44." The Orange amassed 620 yards, 447 through the air. Angeli, a transfer from Notre Dame, was 24 of 32 passing. Darrell Gill Jr. led Syracuse receivers with six receptions for 152 yards. Twelve Syracuse players had at least one reception.

Jaylan Hornsby, Justus Ross-Simmons and Darien Williams all scored through the air. Will Nixon chipped in with a 2-yard run and Luke Carney ran nine yards for another. Rickie Collins threw for another score in relief of Angeli. "He's working really, really hard," Brown said. "It's amazing that he got to join Jim Brown, both those guys were amazing here, so I'm proud of him that he had a chance to join that." Angeli said it was "awesome" he had joined such an elite duo but he spread the love to his offense. "It's not just me, there's guys that are all over that are allowing that to happen. That's a collective thing. It's not really an individual because some guys got to catch the football for me, protect, and everything else, so it's awesome to hear that," Angeli said. "There's so many playmakers, like everywhere. It's a really special group." "I thought their quarterback played really well, and he's getting better every week," Colgate coach Curt Fitzpatrick said. - Syracuse/AP College Football

No. 21 Alabama will be without defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman for the rest of his season after he sustained a lower-body injury in practice Wednesday. Coach Kalen DeBoer announced Beaman's status on his weekly radio show. Beaman started last week's season opener at Florida State and logged a quarterback hurry. Beaman was starting in place of fourth-year junior Tim Keenan, who remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. "Tim Keenan will not be available this week, but he's doing really well and making the progress that we would expect," DeBoer said. "This is not a long-term injury for him." Without Beaman and Keenan, the Crimson Tide will turn to sophomore Edric Hill and freshmen Isaia Faga and London Simmons to increase their workload against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. - AP College football

Missouri will be without backup quarterback Sam Horn for "an extended period of time" because of an injury, Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz said Tuesday, and kicker Blake Craig will miss the rest of the season after tearing an ACL. Horn had been in a competition with Penn State transfer Beau Pribula to be the starting quarterback, and both were expected to play in last week's opener against Central Arkansas. But Horn injured his right leg in the first quarter on a designed run, and that left Pribula to play most of the way in a 61-6 rout of the Bears.

Pribula was 23 of 28 for 283 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 10 times for 65 yards and two more scores. "Beau's going to be Beau. You can't control injuries," Drinkwitz said. "You can't be afraid of them." Horn missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. An accomplished pitcher, he was selected in the 17th round of the first-year player draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Horn signed a contract with them in July. Freshman quarterback Matt Zollers is expected to back up Pribula beginning Saturday, when the Tigers renew the Border War against old Big 12 rival Kansas. Former walk-on Brett Brown also was added back to the roster to provide some QB depth. - AP College football

Dylan Raiola threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns and Emmett Johnson ran for 140 yards and scored three times to lead Nebraska past Akron 68-0 on Saturday night. The Cornhuskers (2-0) turned in their most prodigious offensive performance against a Bowl Subdivision opponent in more than a decade. They recorded their most points in a game since 2007 and most yards in a game since 2014. They posted their first shutout since a 33-0 Holiday Bowl win over Arizona in 2009. The Zips (0-2), who opened the season with a 10-0 loss to Wyoming at home, were held scoreless for a second straight game.

Johnson broke a 47-yard touchdown run on the game's opening possession, caught a 4-yard TD pass in the second quarter and ran 6 yards for a score in the third. Johnson was the first Nebraska player with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games since Anthony Grant had three straight to open the 2022 season. Raiola gave way to freshman backup TJ Lateef after he threaded a perfect strike to Dane Key in the end zone for a 47-0 lead in the third quarter. Akron had two good chances to score its first points of the season. But Owen Wiley's 49-yard field goal attempt bounced off the left upright in the final seconds of the first half, and Riley Van Poppel blocked Wiley's 33-yard try in the third quarter. - Nebraska/AP College Football

Bryant Wesco Jr. caught two second-half touchdown passes from Cade Klubnik, Adam Randall ran for 112 yards and a score, and No. 8 Clemson survived a scare from Troy, overcoming a 16-point deficit to win 27-16 on Saturday. The Tigers (1-1), 31-point favorites according to BetMGM Sportsbook, trailed 16-0 midway through the second quarter and 16-3 at halftime, but outscored the Trojans (1-1) 24-0 after the break. Randall ran for a 1-yard TD to cap an eight-play, 75-yard drive to open the third quarter.

</p>Moments later, safety Ricardo Jones intercepted Goose Crowder, making an acrobatic grab off a pass breakup by teammate Ashton Hampton. On the next play, Klubnik connected with Wesco for a 26-yard touchdown to put Clemson ahead 17-16. Wesco added a 34-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter. He finished with seven receptions for 118 yards, and Klubnik was 18 of 24 for 196 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Clemson, which fell four spots in the AP Top 25 after losing its opener to LSU, could drop again after this unimpressive performance. - Clemson/AP College Football

AJ Swann threw for 292 yards, Rashod Dubinion ran for 194 yards, and Appalachian State defeated Lindenwood 20-13 on Saturday. Swann got the Mountaineers (2-0) off to a fast start, throwing a 72-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Stroman on the first play from scrimmage. However, three lost fumbles and an interception kept Appalachian State from putting their FCS opponent away.

The third lost fumble led to Nate Glantz's 24-yard touchdown pass to Rico Bond that made it 20-13 with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Lions (0-2) then recovered an onside kick but Glantz was intercepted by Elijah McCantos on a deep fourth-down pass. Appalachian State gained 503 yards on offense but had four turnovers. Glantz passed for 217 yards but was sacked eight times, leading to the Lions' minus-1 rushing total. - AP College Football

Cam Cook ran for 195 yards with two touchdowns and Jacksonville State defeated Liberty 34-24 on Saturday in a Conference USA opener between the past two league champions. Jax State (1-1) turned two takeaways - a fumble and an interception - into 14 points in the first half. The Gamecocks led 17-10 at halftime and 24-10 in the third quarter after Cook's 1-yard touchdown run. That touchdown came at the end of an 83-yard drive and the Gamecocks scored on a 75-yard drive to take a 31-17 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Two long touchdowns in the fourth quarter kept Liberty within seven points. A 52-yard run by Evan Dickens made it 24-17 and a 62-yard pass play from Ethan Vasko to Donte Lee Jr. made it 31-24 before Jax State's Garrison Rippa kicked a 24-yard field goal for the final score. Rippa had a 50-yard field goal in the first half. Jacksonville State had 338 yards rushing. Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt, who had 78 yards rushing, completed 6 of 12 passes for 52 yards.
