Quarterback Maverick McIvor came off the bench to lead three second-half touchdown drives and Western Kentucky rallied to beat Southern Mississippi 27-16 on Tuesday night to win the New Orleans Bowl at Caesars Superdome. Head coach Tyson Helton has led the Hilltoppers (9-4) to a bowl game in seven straight seasons, winning five of them. McIvor completed 12 of 19 passes for 199 yards with one interception and rushed for a season-high 48 yards and a score on eight carries. Matthew Henry had seven receptions for 126 yards. Jack Cannon kicked two field goals. Braylon Braxton threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Tychaun Chapman in the first quarter and Creighton Wilbanks kicked two field goals in the second to help the Golden Eagles (7-6) take a 13-6 lead into halftime. Southern Miss piled up 265 yards in the first half, while holding Western Kentucky to 84. The Hilltoppers outgained the Golden Eagles 338-112 after halftime.

Freshman quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr. completed 9 of 20 passes for 65 yards with an interception for Western Kentucky before leaving right before halftime after taking a hard hit. McIvor, who hadn't played since starting the first seven games, led the second-half charge. McIvor capped an eight-play drive with an 11-yard touchdown run to tie it 13-all midway through the third quarter before Wilbanks kicked a 41-yard field goal to put Southern Miss up 16-13 heading to the fourth. McIvor had a 23-yard run to the Golden Eagles' 1 and George Hart III plunged into the end zone two plays later for a 20-16 lead 7:48 remaining. McIvor completed a 14-yard pass to Matthew Henry on third-and-11 and Marvis Parrish raced 54 yards for a score on the next play to set the final margin with 3:38 left. The Hilltoppers were successful on all eight third-down opportunities in the second half after going 1 for 9 in the first. Braxton totaled 258 yards on 24-for-47 passing with an interception. - Western Kentucky/AP College Football

Ty Simpson passed for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 9 seed Alabama rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat No. 8 Oklahoma 34-24 on Friday night in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Alabama freshman Lotzeir Brooks, who did not score a touchdown in the regular season, scored two and had season highs of five catches and 79 yards. It was the third meeting between the schools in 13 months. Oklahoma defeated Alabama 24-3 last November at home, then beat the Crimson Tide 23-21 last month on the road. It was the first playoff for the Crimson Tide since coach Kalen DeBoer arrived from Washington two years ago. Alabama (11-3) advanced to play No. 1 seed Indiana and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza in a quarterfinal game at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. Oklahoma's John Mateer passed for 307 yards and two touchdowns, but he threw a costly interception that Alabama's Zabien Brown returned 50 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Deion Burks had seven catches for 107 yards and a score for the Sooners (10-3). Oklahoma's Tate Sandell, the Lou Groza Award winner for the nation's best kicker, tied an FBS single-season record for most made field goals of 50 or more yards. He drilled a 51-yarder into a stiff wind to give the Sooners a 10-0 lead late in the first quarter, his 24th consecutive made field goal. The Sooners outgained the Crimson Tide 118 yards to 12 in the opening period. Mateer's 6-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Sategna early in the second quarter pushed Oklahoma's lead to 17-0.

Alabama, which went three-and-out on its first three possessions, finally got its offense going midway through the second quarter when Simpson hit Brooks for a 10-yard score to trim Oklahoma's lead to 17-7. Later in the quarter, Brown's interception return tied the score at 17. Brooks caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Simpson early in the third quarter to give Alabama its first lead. The Crimson Tide took a 27-17 advantage on a 40-yard field goal by Conor Talty. Burks caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Mateer two plays into the fourth quarter to cut Alabama's lead to 27-24. Oklahoma had chances to stay in the game, but Sandell missed from 36 yards with just under three minutes remaining to end his streak. He missed again from 51 yards out with 1:18 to play. - Alabama/AP College Football

Ty Simpson and Isaiah Horton connected three times for touchdowns, and No. 10 Alabama escaped Auburn with a 27-20 victory in the rivalry known as the Iron Bowl on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide advanced to face fourth-ranked Georgia in the Southeastern Conference championship game next week in Atlanta. Alabama (10-2, 7-1) beat Georgia 24-21 on the road in the regular season. The Tide were on the ropes again at Jordan-Hare Stadium. After leading 17-0 early in the second quarter, they found themselves tied in the waning minutes. But Simpson found Horton on a fourth-and-2 play from the Auburn 6 with 3:50 remaining. It was their third hookup of the night, including 6- and 3-yard scores in the first half.

Simpson completed 19 of 35 passes for a season-low 122 yards. Horton finished with five catches for 35 yards, with all three scores coming in the red zone. Alabama won despite totaling 276 yards. Alabama's Jam Miller ran for 83 yards before leaving with an injury. Ashton Daniels led Auburn (5-7, 1-7) with 259 passing and 108 yards rushing. Malcolm Simmons hauled in two long passes, including a 64-yarder for a touchdown and a 66-yarder that set up a score. Daniels had the Tigers on the move late, taking advantage of a pass-interference penalty and scrambling for a first down on fourth-and-2, but star receiver Cam Coleman fumbled with 33 seconds left. - Alabama/AP College Football

Virginia starting linebacker Kam Robinson will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL against Duke earlier this month. Coach Tony Elliott made the announcement Tuesday at his weekly news conference. Virginia, ranked 17 in the College Football Playoff rankings, plays Virginia Tech on Saturday, and a win gets the Cavaliers into the ACC championship game. Robinson emerged as the best player on the Virginia defense despite missing the first three games of the season with a collarbone injury. He has two interception returns for touchdowns - including one to seal a win at Cal - and his game-winning safety with the score tied and three minutes left against Washington State helped Virginia win 22-20. Though he played in only eight games this season, Robinson is second on the team with 64 tackles. Expect Landon Danley to start in his place. - ESPN College Football

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar, who is nearly six weeks out from having season-ending surgery on his broken left ankle, told ESPN he's amid a "full recovery" and gearing up for the NFL predraft process. Allar entered the season as one of the country's most promising quarterbacks, as he had flirted with going to the NFL after leading Penn State to the semifinals of last season's College Football Playoff. His 2025 season ended abruptly, breaking his left ankle on a scramble in the fourth quarter in a loss to Northwestern. Allar's season was immediately over, and Penn State fired James Franklin the following day. As he moves on to declare for the NFL draft in the upcoming weeks, Allar said he's ahead of schedule on his recovery and confident he'll return to full health. "I'm going to be a better version of myself out of this," he said. "The doctors said it's going to be stronger than before because of the type of surgery they did. It won't prohibit me from anything in the future or need to get it redone. A lot of guys have done it and come back. "I'll be able to make a full recovery and not have anything to think about when I come back." Allar said he's unsure about the specifics of his timeline to come back to the field to showcase himself for NFL teams.

He said he hopes to throw for scouts and teams in some capacity at either the NFL scouting combine or a pro day after that date. Quarterbacks rarely do drills and testing at the combine. Allar told ESPN that he briefly explored opportunities to secure an extra year via medical redshirt, but those were short conversations as he played too many games. There didn't appear to be any redshirt options available from a medical standpoint, nor was there a possibility of the NCAA passing new legislation that allows all players to play five seasons. Allar said he quickly shifted his focus forward. "I've played a lot of high-level football," he said. "I have a lot of film to speak for myself. The best option for me is to move on to the next level." - ESPN College Football

Notre Dame will be without key linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa for the remainder of the season after he suffered a left knee injury in Saturday's 70-7 win against Syracuse. Viliamu-Asa was hurt late in the first half against the Orange and didn't return in the second half. The sophomore from Inland Empire, California, is second on the team with 7.5 tackles for loss to go with 48 total tackles, 3 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries and an interception in 11 games. The No. 5 outside linebacker prospect in the 2024 SC Next rankings, Viliamu-Asa started one game as a freshman in 2024 and two more this season. He had a career-high nine tackles and two tackles for loss in a 25-10 win at Boston College on Nov. 1. The Irish also announced that reserve cornerback Chance Tucker will miss the rest of the season with a left tibia injury. He had played in four games this season.   UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava left Saturday night's 48-14 loss to Washington after being sacked and hurt in the third quarter. The Tennessee transfer was sacked for a 15-yard loss at the UCLA 25-yard line by Bryce Butler at 8:44, with the Bruins trailing 27-0. After lying on his back, Iamaleava got up and walked off the Rose Bowl field under his own power and entered a blue tent behind the Bruins' bench. Last week, Iamaleava missed UCLA's 48-10 loss at No. 1 Ohio State while he was in concussion protocol. He initially got hurt in a loss to Nebraska on Nov. 8. "Not completely sure," interim coach Tim Skipper said when asked if Iamaleava had suffered a concussion. "He was talking when we went out there, but when he came out, he went into the tent, then came into the locker room. We'll get an update as we go, but that's all I really know." Iamaleava was 16-of-26 for 69 yards and no touchdowns before getting hurt and also ran for 16 yards on five carries. He was replaced by sophomore Luke Duncan, who started in Iamaleava's place at Ohio State, Duncan was 5-of-11 for 81 yards and a touchdown on Saturday. ESPN College Football

On a Saturday filled with Southeastern Conference teams playing lower-division opponents, Tennessee appeared to be facing one, too. DeSean Bishop ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns, including one that ended with a flip into the end zone, and the 20th-ranked Volunteers overwhelmed rival Florida 31-11 to win in the Swamp for the first time since 2003. The Volunteers (8-3, 4-3 SEC) had dropped 10 in a row at Florida Field, one of the longest skids in series history. Although there were plenty of lopsided meetings over the years, this one could go down as the most stunning - even with the Gators (3-8, 2-6) spiraling and waiting to find out the future of Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. With retired coach Urban Meyer watching from the Florida sideline, the Vols scored touchdowns on their first four drives and led 31-0 at halftime.

It was easily their most dominant 30 minutes of football against Florida since 1990. They outgained the Gators 323-110 in the opening half and had 19 first downs. The Gators put up little fight on defense and couldn't seem to get out of their own way on offense. A holding penalty negated a 42-yard completion, DJ Lagway was stuffed for no gain on a fourth-down run and Trey Smack missed a 38-yard field goal. The Gators tried to regroup at halftime. But Jadan Baugh inadvertently signaled for a fair catch on the second-half kickoff and let the ball bounce, resulting in Florida starting at the 2-yard line. Roughly half the home crowd left early, and no one could blame them. It was Florida's worst home showing since trailing Missouri 42-0 in 2014. Tennessee fans took over Florida Field in the waning moments and long after the clock wound down, and quarterback Joey Aguilar riled them up with a mock Gator chomp. - Tennessee/AP College Football

Joe Pesansky threw two touchdown passes, Kejon Owen had 135 yards rushing and a TD on 21 carries, and Florida International beat Jacksonville State 27-21 on Saturday night to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2019. Florida International (6-5, 4-3 Conference USA) has won three in a row and has four conference wins for the first time since 2018. Dante Anderson forced a fumble by Caden Creel that was recovered by Johnny Chaney Jr. at the FIU 32 and two plays later Alex Perry caught a pass near midfield, eluded three would-be tacklers and raced to the end zone for a 64-yard touchdown that gave the Panthers a 24-21 lead with 12:56 left in the game.

Jacksonville State (7-4, 6-1) had its five-game win streak snapped and fell into a three-way tie with Western Kentucky and Kennesaw State atop the conference. The Gamecocks wrap up the regular season next Saturday at home against WKU. Owens opened the scoring with a 3-yard TD run with 7:06 left in the first quarter, and offensive lineman Chad Staley caught a 1-yard touch pass from Pesansky - the first scoring reception by an offensive lineman in program history - to cap a 10-play, 75-yard drive that opened the second half and made it 14-all. Noah Grant kicked field goals of 35 yards late in the third quarter and 42 yards with 1:54 to play. Creel threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Deondre Johnson and a 20-yarder to Pearson Baldwin. Cam Cook had 138 yards rushing, which included a 1-yard TD, on 25 carries. - FIU/AP College Football
