Dionte Marks, Central Florida, Player News

Dionte Marks' transfer saga took one last unexpected turn. Marks arrived at UCF on Tuesday, according to a Facebook post from his mother, Shawn Marks. The 6-foot-2, 178-pound redshirt freshman wide receiver from DeLand, Florida, committed to Ole Miss on July 22 after entering the transfer portal after one year at Florida. Prior to committing to Ole Miss, Marks published a commitment announcement to UCF on his personal Instagram page, but deleted the post within a matter of hours. Shawn Marks told The News-Journal her son "changed his mind" and rekindled his interest in the Knights due to the shorter distance from home, allowing for her to attend games more conveniently. Marks made two appearances for the Gators in 2019, taking the field against UT Martin and Towson. He did not register a reception. Ranked the No. 57 wide receiver recruit in the 2019 class by 247Sports, Marks chose Florida over Florida State, Louisville, Mississippi State and West Virginia, among others. - The Clarion Ledger

Florida is tentatively expected to open Fall camp Aug. 7, where the program will look to replace multiple starters across the board. With production readily available at the wide receiver position, the depth chart remains to be seen -- although there's now one UF wideout unlikely to vie for a spot. Florida redshirt freshman wide receiver Dionte Marks entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday, the Gainesville Sun confirmed. Matt Zenitz of AL.com was the first to report Marks' decision. The former three-star product out of DeLand, Marks signed with the Gators during the 2019 early signing period and arrived on campus the following June. Marks redshirted and didn't record any stats, although he did get on the field during Florida's victories over UT-Martin and Towson. - Gainesville Sun
