  Chris Parson passed to Shemar Kirk for three touchdowns and ran for three more scores as Austin Peay defeated North Alabama 56-28 on Saturday night. Parson threw two touchdown passes, including 79-yarder to Kirk, and ran for a 10-yard score in leading the Governors (5-3, 3-2 United Athletic Conference), ranked No. 23 in the FCS coaches poll, to a 28-7 halftime lead. Parson connected on a 47-yard score to Kirk for a 42-21 lead at the end of the third quarter before adding 37- and 6-yard rushing TDs.

Parson was 17-of-24 passing for 311 yards and added 53 on the ground. Kirk collected his 132 yards receiving on just three catches. Javious Bond had a 60-yard TD run and finished with 96 on eight carries. Montreze Smith Jr. made two interceptions. Destin Wade was 26-of-49 passing for 330 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions (2-6, 1-3) but was intercepted three times. He added 60 yards and a TD rushing.   WEEK 6 UNITED ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Austin Peay's Chris Parson led the Govs to a win over previously-undefeated, No. 16 West Georgia. with 364 yards of total offense and five total touchdowns. He was 16-for-26 passing for a career-high 346 yards and three touchdowns tosses, matching his career best. Parson averaged 21.6 yards per completion with six completions of 20-plus yards, four of 30-plus yards, and four of 40-plus yards. He also added 18 yards rushing and matched his career-high with two rushing touchdowns. - United Athletic Conference Football

  WEEK 5 UNITED ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Austin Peay's Parson, a redshirt-sophomore quarterback, was APSU's leading passer and rusher, and was responsible for four touchdowns in a 42-10 win over Utah Tech. He threw touchdowns of 4, 9, and 30 yards in the first half; he then added a nine-yard rushing touchdown in the second half before exiting the game with the Govs double-digit lead midway through the third quarter. Parson's three touchdown passes were a career-high as were his 82 rushing yards, and he has now scored a rushing touchdown in three-straight games this season. - United Athletic Conference Football

  Chris Parson threw three touchdown passes and ran for another to lead Austin Peay to a 42-10 rout over Utah Tech on Saturday. Austin Peay (3-2, 1-1 OAC), ranked No. 25 in the FCS coaches' poll, bounced back from a 45-31 loss at then 14th-ranked Abilene Christian last week in the conference opener. Parson completed 18 of 25 passes for 204 yards. He added 82 yards rushing on 11 carries that included a 9-yard touchdown run to stretch the Austin Peay lead to 35-3 late in the third quarter. Shemar Kirk had a pair of touchdown catches and Jaden Robinson and Corey Richardson each had one for the Governors. Reggie Graff was 16-of-27 passing for 143 yards and had 43 yards rushing on 16 carries for Utah Tech (1-4, 0-1 OAC). Kona Crowell ran for a short touchdown for the Trailblazers with about five minutes left. The Governors are 3-0 in the series with Utah Tech. - AP College Football

  Courtland Simmons scored two of Austin Peay's seven rushing touchdowns while the Governors held Morehead State to just 6 yards on the ground in a 56-7 win Saturday. Chris Parson was 11 of 14 for 199 yards passing as the No. 23 FCS Governors (2-1) amassed 684 yards. Javious Bond ripped off an 84-yard rushing touchdown on his sole carry, and Parson added a 60-yard score on the ground as Austin Peay scored 42 points in the first half.

Bryce Patterson went 12 of 21 for 80 yards and an interception and David Parson threw for 75 yards and a score for Morehead State (1-2). The Eagles' offense mustered just 178 yards. Simmons scored his two touchdowns on four carries and had 107 yards receiving. Corey Richardson, Chandler Kirton and Isaiah Groves added rushing scores. Julien Randolph III caught a 17-yard touchdown in the third quarter en route to a two-reception, 47-yard night. - AP College Football

  Chris Parson threw two touchdown passes and Austin Peay rolled from the start in a 34-14 victory over Middle Tennessee on Saturday night. The Governors of the FCS defeated an FBS team for the first time since 1987 when they beat Kansas State in a season opener. Austin Peay snapped a 12-game losing streak in the rivalry and hadn't defeated the Blue Raiders since before MTSU made the move to the FBS in 1999.

Austin Peay scored first-quarter touchdowns on a 22-yard pass from Parson to Jaden Robinson and a short run by Courtland Simmons. The Govs made it 21-0 in the second quarter on a 4-yard pass from Parson to Jackson Head and they led 21-7 at halftime. Austin Peay added two Carson Smith field goals and a touchdown run by backup quarterback Austin Smith in the second half. Nicholas Vattiato threw two touchdown passes for Middle Tennessee. Vattiato, who has more than 7,500 passing yards in his career at MTSU, was held to 104 yards on 15-of-36 passing. Parson completed 11-of-20 passes for 142 yards. Austin Peay had 341 yards to 153 for Middle Tennessee. - AP College Football
