WEEK 13 UNITED ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Austin Peay's Chris Parson, the Govs dynamic redshirt-sophomore quarterback, set the Austin Peay single-game total offense record with 487 yards against Tarleton State, total also was best in the UAC this season and eighth highest total in FCS this year. He rushed for an APSU single-game quarterback record of 194 yards including a pair of touchdowns, while going 17-of-30 for 293 yards in the air. Parson tossed a career-best four touchdown passes against the Texans and matched his career-high of six touchdowns responsible for. WEEK 9 UNITED ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Austin Peay's Chris Parson, a redshirt-sophomore quarterback, led the Governors to a decisive win over rival UNA amassing 364 yards of total offense and six touchdowns. He completed 17-of -24 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns, with a season-long 79-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Parson also rushed 12 times for 53 yards and three touchdowns, with scoring runs of 37, 10 and 6 yards. Chris Parson accounted for six Austin Peay touchdowns on Saturday, but he overthrew an open receiver in the flat on a two-point conversion in overtime and Tarleton State escaped with a 45-44 victory, earning the Texans their first conference title as a D ivision I school. Corbin Poston kicked a 41-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to pull Tarleton State (11-1, 7-1 United Athletic Conference) even at 38, forcing OT. Victor Gabalis threw a 27-yard touchdown pass on the Texans' second play for a 45-38 lea d. Parson scored on a 25-yard first-down run before misfiring on the two-point try. The redshirt sophomore had a career day for Austin Peay (7-5, 4-4), completing 17 of 30 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. He also rushed 21 times for 194 yards and two scores.Gabalis totaled 311 yards on 23-for-44 passing. Tylan Hines rushed 19 times for a career-high 215 yards and his 40-yard touchdown run evened the score at 28-all early in the third quarter. Cody Jackson caught 10 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Trevon West hauled in six passes for 100 yards and a score. Parson had a 51-yard run on the first play from scrimmage for Austin Peay. He threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Shemar Kirk two plays later for a 7-0 lea d. Parson followed with three touchdown passes to Kamari Maxwell covering 8, 45 and 12 yards to put the Governors up 28-14 at halftime. Gabalis had a 35-yard touchdown pass to West prior to Hines' long scoring run that tied it. The tie lasted five plays before Parson raced 24 yards for a touchdown on the sixth, and Austin Peay took a 35-28 lead into the final quarter. Chris Parson threw for 265 yards and a touchdown, added 53 more yards on the ground, and Austin Peay took down Samford 30-16 on Saturday. Nate Garnett Jr. caught two passes for 40 yards and a score for the Governors (7-4), and Jaden Robinson caught four passes for 67 yards. Parson completed 16 of his 30 passes. A pick-six by Montreze Smith gave the Governors a 14-0 lead with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter.After a 50-yard field goal from Carson Smith just before the half, Austin Peay continue d to extend their lead in the third quarter with an 11-yard touchdown rush by Kaden Williams and a 42-yard kick by Smith. TJ Cox Jr., Antori Hamilton, Will Middleton, and Smith each recorded one sack for the Governors. Samford (1-10) put 13 points on the board in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the large deficit. Chris Parson accounted for four touchdowns to reclaim the lead twice for Austin Peay in a 41-38 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday. Parson was involved in all of the Governors' touchdowns, and his 19-yard rush with 7:25 remaining served as the game-wi nning effort. He had 73 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and was 23-of-32 passing for 301 yards and two touchdowns. Shemar Kirk caught nine of those passes for 144 yards, including a 54-yarder and a 38-yard touchdown to give the Governors ( 6-4, 4-3 United Athletic Conference) a 34-31 lead with 12:33 remaining.Austin Peay scored on four consecutive drives in the second quarter and added 24 unanswered points to close out the half with a 27-14 lead. The Bears responded with 17 unanswer ed points in the third quarter, with Landen Chambers' 1-yard rush reclaiming a lead that was lost at the 11:54 mark in the second quarter. Chambers led all rushers with 149 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts. Austin Myers was 19-of-35 for 213 yards wit h three touchdowns for the Bears (3-7, 2-4). Chris Parson passed to Shemar Kirk for three touchdowns and ran for three more scores as Austin Peay defeated North Alabama 56-28 on Saturday night. Parson threw two touchdown passes, including 79-yarder to Kirk, and ran for a 10-yard score in leading th e Governors (5-3, 3-2 United Athletic Conference), ranked No. 23 in the FCS coaches poll, to a 28-7 halftime lead.
