WEEK 12 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caleb Nix, Jacksonville State - Jr. - S - Phenix City, Ala.,...Nix becomes the first CUSA player to repeat as Defensive Player of the Week after he recorded a pair of interceptions for Jax State (7-3, 6-0 CUSA) in their 35-26 win over Kennesaw State in a battle of teams that started the day at 5-0 in Conference USA. His first came in the second quarter with the Owls threatening as Nix intercepted a pass at his own 10-yard line and returned it 26 yards . It marked the fourth consecutive game with a takeaway for the redshirt junior and third consecutive game with an interception. WEEK 11 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caleb Nix, Jax State - Jr. - S - Phenix City, Ala.,...Nix recorded his second defensive touchdown of the season, returning an interception 93 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to give Jax Sta te (6-3, 5-0 CUSA) a 10-point lead during a 30-27 win at UTEP. It marked the second-longest pick six in program history and the first of 70 or more yards by a Gamecock since 2017. He also helped out on a tackle for loss and made five total stops on the d ay. The victory helped secure bowl eligibility for the Gamecocks for the third straight season since joining FBS. - Conference USA Football
