  09/28/25 - SS Dillon ThienemanJr/2027, Oregon, 6-0, 205 (DS#5 SS) + More +

Dillon Thieneman intercepted Drew Allar's pass in the second overtime period and No. 6 Oregon outlasted No. 3 Penn State 30-24 on Saturday night. Jamari Johnson ran for a touchdown in overtime, Dierre Hill Jr. caught a touchdown pass, Jordan Davison ran for another score and Atticus Sappington kicked a field goal for the Ducks (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) who won their FBS-leading 23rd straight regular-season game. They also improved to 12-0 in regular-season Big Ten play and did so in one of college football's most hostile environments, winning the rematch of last season's conference championship game. They did so despite 111,015 fans - most of them clad in all white - trying to lift Penn State in the final minutes. They nearly did so.

Trailing 17-10, Penn State got the ball with 7:07 left to play. An offense that had managed just 189 yards to that point drove down the field where Allar hooked up with Devonte Ross for a 7-yard touchdown to force overtime. Ross caught a 35-yarder from Allar earlier in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to keep Penn State from falling to 4-21 against AP Top 10 teams since James Franklin became coach. Kaytron Allen scored the opening touchdown in overtime before Johnson equaled it. Allar was intercepted on Penn State's next play. Oregon kept Allar from getting into a rhythm while holding Nittany Lion tailbacks Allen and Nicholas Singleton to 18 rushing yards over the first two quarters. The Nittany Lions punted three times, but got a 49-yard field goal from Ryan Barker to take a 3-0 lead with 13:26 left in the first half. Meanwhile, Penn State's defense was just as tough. The Nittany Lions forced a punt, a turnover on downs and a missed field goal before Sappington nailed a 42-yarder to tie it 3:42 before halftime. - Oregon/AP College Football

  12/27/23 - SS Dillon ThienemanJr/2027, Oregon, 6-0, 205 (DS#5 SS) + More +

2023 ALL-BIG TEN SECOND TEAM: Dillon Thieneman, Purdue,...Thieneman was the only Big Ten freshman defender to make one of the three all-league teams. The Westfield, Indiana, native led the Boilermakers with 106 tackles, ranking fifth in the conference, including 74 solo tackles. Thieneman's 6.2 solo tackles per game rank third in the country among all defenders. The 74 solo tackles set a new Purdue freshman record, breaking College Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson's mark of 67 that stood for 40 years.

Thieneman led the Boilermakers in tackles eight times throughout his debut season, while cracking double digits in four of them. Thieneman also ranks second in the country and leads the Big Ten with six interceptions, the most by a Boilermaker since Ricardo Allen recorded six in 2013. He became just the eighth Boilermaker to tally six picks in a season, while becoming the only freshman to reach that mark. His two INTs in the Old Oaken Bucket Game gave him the freshman single-season record, surpassing Stuart Schweigert's season total of five. - Purdue Football

  11/30/23 - SS Dillon ThienemanJr/2027, Oregon, 6-0, 205 (DS#5 SS) + More +

2023 BIG TEN THOMPSON-RANDLE EL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR: Dillon Thieneman, Purdue,...Right from the start of the 2023 campaign, Thieneman led the Purdue defense all season long and emerged as one of the best defensive players in the country. The Westfield, Indiana, native ranks second nationally in interceptions (6) and third in solo tackles (74), both new Purdue freshman records and more than any other freshman in the country. Thieneman also paces the nation's freshmen in total tackles (106) and forced fumbles (2). His six interceptions are double the nearest competition, as four freshmen around the country have three INTs apiece.

Ending his first season as a Boilermaker, Thieneman went out with a bang by breaking a pair of school records. The defensive back made a pair of interceptions in the first half against Indiana, bringing his season total to six to surpass Schweigert's freshman record of five for a single season. Thieneman became just the eighth Boilermaker to record six interceptions in a season, the first since Ricardo Allen in 2013. Along with his pair of picks, Thieneman recorded a team-high eight tackles to lead the Purdue defense in stopping the Hoosiers. All of his tackles were solo, as he broke College Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson's Purdue freshman record of solo tackles in a single season. Woodson ended his 1983 freshman campaign with 67 solo tackles, while Thieneman registered 74 this season. - Purdue Football
