Marcel Reed threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score before leaving late in the third quarter with an injury to lead No. 19 Texas A&M to a 44-22 victory over Utah State on Saturday. Reed threw for 220 yards with TD passes of 34, 12 and eigh t yards before leaving with about four minutes left in the third quarter after taking an awkward fall and getting hit by a defender. He walked off the field after being checked out and spent time in the medical tent before jogging to the locker room. The re was no immediate update on his condition. Texas A&M (2-0) led by 1 late in the first quarter before scoring 23 straight points to take a 30-6 lead into halftime. Reed had a 1-yard scoring run and a 12-yard TD pass in that span to help Texas A&M pull a way.Texas A&M's defense dominated in that stretch, led by defensive end Cashius Howell, who sacked Bryson Barnes on three consecutive plays to single-handedly force a punt in the second quarter. It's the first time a player has had sacks on three straight plays since Jack Cichy did it for Wisconsin against Southern California in the 2015 Holiday Bowl, according to research by the Texas A&M communications staff. Barnes had 169 yards passing with two touchdowns for Utah State (1-1) but was sacked s ix times and hit six more. KC Concepcion had another big game for Texas A&M on Saturday after scoring a touchdown on a punt return and grabbing a TD catch in his debut last week after transferring from North Carolina State. He had six receptions for 73 y ards and two touchdowns. His second TD came on an 8-yard catch and extended the lead to 37-14 with about six minutes left in the third quarter. Mario Craver, another transfer in his first year at A&M, had 114 yards receiving and a touchdown after grabbin g two touchdown receptions last week. Marcel Reed threw for a career-high four touchdowns and KC Conception had a TD reception and returned a punt for another score in his Texas A&M debut as the 19th-ranked Aggies rolled to a 42-24 win over UTSA Saturday night. Robert Henry Jr.'s 75-yard tou chdown run on the first play of the second half cut Texas A&M's lead to 21-17. But Reed threw a 1-yard touchdown pass on fourth down on the next drive before adding a 22-yard scoring throw on the following possession to extend the lead to 35-17 late in t he third quarter.Conception, a transfer from N.C. State, ran a punt back 80 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and his 31-yard reception made it 21-10 in the second. He had 72 yards receiving and became the first Aggie to have a punt retur n touchdown and a TD grab in the same game since Christian Kirk did it in 2017 against New Mexico. The three touchdowns tied the NC State sophomor e single-game record and are the second-most throughout FBS football in Week 1. Concepcion recorded 121 receiving yards on a career-high nine receptions, while also adding a 20-yard punt return. 2023 ACC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR/OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Kevin "KC" Concepcion, NC State,...Concepcion put together a freshman season for the record books. The wideout worked his way into the ACC Freshman record books, currently ranking second in touchd own receptions (10), fourth in receptions (64), and 10th in receiving yards (767). The freshman sensation also broke NC State's freshman records for receptions and receiving touchdowns and is eyeing down the yardage record of 853 held by Kelvin Harmon.Not only did Concepcion shine among ACC players, but the Charlotte, North Carolina, native leads all FBS freshman receivers in both receptions and receiving yards. Concepcion is the first true freshman in NC State history to post two 100-plus yard r eceiving games in a season and have at least eight touchdown receptions in a season. Concepcion has been named a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, presented annually to the outstanding freshman player in college football.
