Wayne Favors III had a pick-six, sparking Delaware State in a 26-13 win over Howard on Saturday. Favors picked off a Tyriq Starks pass on a play starting at the Bison's own 9-yard line, and his touchdown gave the Hornets (8-3, 4-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic) a 23-6 lead. The Bison (4-7, 1/3 MEAC) were limited to 43 yards on the ground, adding their only touchdown on a 60-yard connection from Starks to Andre Cooper II with 2:32 remaining.Starks was 21-of-39 passing for 252 yards with two interceptions. Five Delaware State players rushed for at least 21 yards in a 205-yard performance for the Hornets, who lead the FCS with 283.6 rushing yards per game. Marquis Gillis led Delaware State with 92 yards on 16 attempts. Jayden Sauray (21 yards on six carries ) kept one for a touchdown and Ryan Pellum Taylor had the other, a 4-yard effort, on his lone carry of the day. - AP College Football

James Jones, Marquis Gillis and Kobe Boykin each ran for more than 100 yards and Delaware State punished Division-II member Southern Connecticut State 70-23 on Saturday. As a team, Delaware ran for a program record 608 yards on 36 carries and scored seve n touchdowns. The Hornets' (4-3) previous single-game team rushing record was 518 yards in a 24-13 win over Towson on Sept. 22, 1990.Delaware State tied its single-game program with 70 points. The Hornets first reached the feat with a 70-8 win ove r Bowie State on Oct. 13, 1984. Against the Owls, Jones had 158 yards on three carries and two touchdowns, Gillis had 130 yards, nine carries and touchdown while Boykin had 100 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. C.J. Henry threw for three touchdowns, Marquis Gillis rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown, and Delaware State scored 28 unanswered points to beat Norfolk State 28-7 on Saturday. Henry had a touchdown pass in each of the first three quarters, opening wit h a 41-yarder to Jerrish Halsey. The duo also connected on a 22-yard TD early in the third for a 21-0 lead. Gillis capped the scoring with a 23-yard touchdown. Halsey finished with three catches for 77 yards and two scores for Delaware State (4-2, 1-0 ME AC). Otto Kuhns was 19 of 41 for 258 yards with one touchdown and one interception for Norfolk State (1-6, 1-1). The Spartans didn't enter the red zone until the fourth quarter. - AP College Football

Marquis Gillis ran for 86 yards and Delaware State broke open a close game with 17 points in the fourth quarter, defeating Division II-level Lincoln (PA) 34-0 in a season-opener on Saturday. The Hornets led 17-0 through three quarters before finishing st rong with a Jared Lewis touchdown pass, a C.J. Henry touchdown run and a field goal by Nathan Wilson. Earlier, Wade Inge and Thomas Bertrand-Hudon had rushing touchdowns for Delaware State. The Hornets threw just 11 passes with Lewis going 4-of-8 passing for 87 yards. Delaware State had 43 carries for 215 yards. Lincoln's Isaiah Freeman was 12-of-19 passing for 130 yards. The Lions gained only 205 yards against the Hornets, who led the MEAC in defense last season and return all 11 starters. - AP College Football
