Because of its stringent admissions and transfer rules, Colorado historically had trouble getting in on that game. Enter new head coach Deion "Prime" Sanders. In the span of a month, changes happened quickly thanks to a new initiative that makes credit r eview for transfer students a more seamless process. CU has received commitments from around 20 players off the transfer portal and is ranked first by 247 Sports on its transfer football team rankings. That includes one of the top transfers, corner back Travis Hunter, who followed Sanders from Jackson State. "This is a game-changer," university Chancellor Philip DiStefano said in an interview with The Associated Press. "They (transfers) want to know immediately if (their credits) are acceptable, an d if they're eligible to play. They don't want to wait two weeks, three weeks, or five weeks." For years, a key disadvantage in luring transfer students to Colorado was that it didn't have a streamlined way to accept credits from varying classes from dif ferent schools. Under the new rules in this pilot program, transfers will be able to more easily move credits from their previous schools that don't have a matching major at CU and this gives Sanders on a more level playing field. - AP College Football

Hunter is not shying away from the expectations. "I want to get everything that's there for me. I want to accomplish everything that everybody said I could. I want to be the best receiver. During a Wednesday night event in Birmingham, Saban claimed Jackson State "paid a guy a million dollars last year that was a really good Division I player to come to school," and that, "it was in the paper and they bragged about it. Nobody did anything a bout it." Saban was assumed to be referring to 247 Sports' top-rated prospect in the 2022 class, five-star cornerback Travis Hunter, who shocked the college football world when he flipped his commitment from Florida State to Jackson State last December. Hunter in a tweet Thursday questioned how he was paid a million dollars if his mother remains in a three-bedroom house with five children.Sanders, the former NFL star, followed up by tweeting that he does not even make a million dollars as Jackson State's coach. "I don't make a million. Travis ain't built like that. Travis ain't chasing a dollar. Travis is chasing greatness. Travis and his family don't get down like that," Sanders said. "They never came to us in search of the bag. They're not bui lt like that. This kid wants to be great. "He wants my hands on him. He wants me to mold him. He wants me to be his navigational system through life. He wants to be that dude." Andscape reported, citing a source, that Hunter has two current NIL deals and two pending, and that the deals are worth less than $250,000. - Birmingham News
