The Ole Miss offense just took a major hit to the chest as tight end Michael Trigg is likely going to miss the rest of the season due to a broken collarbone he suffered in last week's game against Vanderbilt. First reported by Chuck Rounsaville of On3 Sp orts, the injury appeared to happen at the 2:40 mark of the third quarter. Quarterback Jaxson Dart threw the ball down the middle of the field to connect with Trigg for a big gain.Trigg caught the ball and he was tackled with all of the pressure g oing towards his right clavicle. It didn't look too serious with the way Trigg got up and ran off the field, but unfortunately, that was not the case. As soon as he ran towards the sideline, his right arm was hanging down from his body, and you could tel l that he couldn't move it. On Monday, head coach Lane Kiffin was asked about any updates on Trigg's injury, and he refused to give out the information to the public. 2022 PRESEASON JOHN MACKEY AWARD WATCH LIST: MICHAEL TRIGG, OLE MISS,...The Tampa, Florida, native played in six games last year for the Trojans before an ankle injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Prior to that, Trigg hauled in a seven receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. Trigg was a force in his first action in an Ole Miss uniform, logging seven receptions for 89 yards and three touchdowns for the Navy team during the 2022 Grove Bowl. Coming out of high school, Trigg was a consen sus 4-star recruit, rated as high as the No. 3 tight end and No. 71 overall prep prospect by Rivals. - Ole Miss Football

Michael Trigg still has a lot to learn about USC's playbook and the particulars of his new position, but as a short pass to the flat began to sail over his head at Tuesday's practice, the freshman's instincts took over. A pass that should've soared incom plete above the tight end's head was instead miraculously snagged from midair with just one hand. As he pulled down Jaxson Dart's errant pass, Trigg dodged one tackle - then lowered his shoulder through another. It ultimately took a pack of Trojan defend ers to pull the freshman down - and only after he'd dragged half the defense to a 20-yard gain. "I was just trying to get to the end zone doing whatever it takes," Trigg recalled, with a grin. "That's all I remember, for real."The 10 practices pre ceding that stunning catch-and-run have been a blur to the wide-eyed freshman, who admits he's still a bit lost when it comes to understanding USC's offense. But to those watching Trigg closely over the past two weeks, it's been a memorable start anyway, one that's put him in position to contribute early this season. Ask anyone in attendance at USC's fall camp, and they'll each offer the same observation. USC defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher spoke to the media for the first time since transferring from Alabama about the current status of his injury. "He's a freak," said quarterback Kedon Slovis.
