Bill O'Brien cautioned it was just one win. What a massive first win of 2024 it was for Boston College - and for the O'Brien Era. Treshaun Ward totaled 138 yards of offense, including a 13-yard touchdown reception, against his former team as Boston College stunned No. 10 Florida State 28-13 on Monday night. Ward, a Tampa native who played at Florida State from 2019-22, had 77 yards rushing and 61 yards receiving as the Eagles (1-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) totaled 263 yards rushing.

It was a resounding debut for O'Brien, who was introduced in mid-February after Jeff Hafley's departure to become the Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator. "I'm very proud of these guys," O'Brien said. "They were resilient tonight. To come down here against a team that really in their minds had to have this win, that's a heck of a statement for BC. But it's just one win." The Eagles' offense produced touchdown drives of 71 yards, 68 yards and 60 yards. BC defensive back Max Tucker also intercepted DJ Uiagalelei and his 58-yard return set up the Eagles on FSU's goal line for another touchdown. - AP College Football

Treshaun Ward, a coveted running back transfer from Florida State, announced his intentions to continue his college football career at K-State via social media. The 5-foot-10, 189-pound back recently finished his sophomore season with the Seminoles and will join the Wildcats after rushing for 628 yards and seven touchdowns last year. He was at his best during his final game when he rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns during a victory over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl. He ranked second on the team behind Trey Benson in rushing yardage in 2022.

Ward originally walked-on to Florida State and spent four seasons there. He totaled 1,241 yards and 12 touchdowns with the Seminoles, and he has two years of eligibility remaining because he took a redshirt and played during the COVID-altered 2020 season. Ward chose K-State after visiting campus last week and receiving recruiting interest from some SEC schools. There is an obvious hole in K-State's backfield next season with Deuce Vaughn off to the NFL. The Wildcats must find a way to replace the 1,936 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns he produced while helping the team win 10 games and claim a Big 12 championship. That is one reason why a player like Ward was interested in joining the Wildcats. - The Kansas City Star

Treshaun Ward, Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili surpassed 100 rushing yards and Florida State dominated Duquesne 47-7 in a lightning-delayed game on Saturday. The Seminoles ran for 406 yards and opened the season with a victory for the first time since 2016. Ward (14 carries, 127 yards), Benson (11 carries, 105 yards) and Toafili (13 carries, 101 yards) led the ground attack, which featured six touchdowns. Ward had two TD runs, and Benson had a 41-yard TD as the Oregon transfer frequently racked up yards after contact.

Florida State scored on eight of its first nine drives. Jordan Travis, Toafili and Ward had TD runs as Florida State led 20-0 after the first quarter. Travis completed 11 of 15 passes for 207 yards. Kentron Poitier had four receptions for 84 yards. Mycah Pittman also had four catches for 44 yards. Johnny Wilson hauled in a 51-yard grab that set up a touchdown. Joe Mischler completed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Abdul Janneh in the third quarter for Duquesne. The Dukes capitalized off a short field after Ryan Webb intercepted a pass from Florida State backup Tate Rodemaker. Florida State's defense forced eight punts. The Seminoles had five pass break-ups, including two by safety Jammie Robinson. - Florida State/AP College Football
