Traeshon Holden was reinstated to the Oregon football team Friday, coach Dan Lanning announced. Holden, a transfer from Alabama, was dismissed from the team Feb. 15 after he was arrested on charges of alleged unlawful use of a weapon, coercion and menaci ng for an altercation that occurred at the Gordon Lofts apartments in the Fifth Street Market area in the early morning hours of that same day. Lane County District Attorney Patricia Perlow chose not to prosecute Holden, saying in an email Monday "The ev idence does not support charging Mr. Holden with any crime."Lanning reversed course as well, welcoming the 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver back to the team. "Following the release of new information from the Lane County District Attorney's office, st udent-athlete Traeshon Holden has been reinstated to the Oregon football team," Lanning said in a statement released by the school Friday. "We will always take allegations of this nature very seriously. However, when new information is provided by author ities, such as in this instance, disciplinary action will be reevaluated and adjusted, when appropriate." Holden issued a statement through his attorney, Jacob Houze, saying "I'm happy to have been exonerated, and I'm looking forward to a great season wi th the Ducks." - Register Guard

The Lane County District Attorney's office will not be filing charges against former Oregon Ducks receiver Traeshon Holden, according to his attorney. Holden was dismissed from the UO football team following his Wednesday morning arrest by Eugene police on accusations of felony unlawful use of a weapon and coercion and misdemeanor menacing.The Lane County District Attorney's office told KEZI it reviewed body camera footage and video surveillance and interviewed an additional witness and will not be filing charges against Holden. "Traeshon Holden did nothing wrong," Jacob Houze, his attorney, said in a statement. "The Lane County District Attorney's thorough review of the evidence has confirmed that. Now that he has been exonerated, he deserves t o have his good name back." The Lane County District Attorney's office could not be reached Friday night and district attorney Patricia Perlow did not immediately respond to an email from The Oregonian/OregonLive. - The Oregonian

Former Alabama wide receiver Traeshon Holden was dismissed Wednesday by Oregon after being arrested earlier in the day. Holden appears in Lane County, Oregon online jail records with three charges after a Wednesday morning arrest by Eugene police: menaci ng, unlawful use of a weapon and coercion. The menacing charge is a misdemeanor, while the other two charges are felonies.Ducks coach Dan Lanning issued a statement to On3 Sports about Holden's arrest and dismissal. "We are aware of the incident i nvolving Traeshon Holden, and he has been dismissed from our team," Lanning said. "We have high standards for the student-athletes, coaches, and staff in our football program, and we are disappointed when these standards are not met. We will continue to hold everyone in our program accountable for meeting our expectations." Holden transferred in December to Oregon after three seasons with the Tide. The junior finished sixth on the team this past season with 331 yards on 25 catches, including six touchdo wns. Alabama wide receiver Traeshon Holden became the first Tide football player to announce a marketing deal early Thursday morning, shortly after state and NCAA rules were loosened to allow college athletes to be paid for endorsements. Holden, a sophomore, posted a message to Instagram shortly after midnight saying he was partnering with Yoke gaming, an app that allows people to play video games with athletes. Former Notre Dame tight end Nic Weishar co-founded the company. Holden, who did not record any st ats as a freshman last season, also announced a deal with a graphic designer on Instagram who edits photos for athletes and recruits. Teammate Agiye Hall, a freshman wide receiver, joined him later Thursday. Hall also announced he is being represented by Playmaker Talent for his business deals, which is allowed under new rules as long as the agency does not begin negotiating future professional contracts. The NFL Players Association reminded its certified agents of that stipulation in a memo Thursday. - Birmingham News

Alabama freshman wide receiver Traeshon Holden was part of an encounter with Baton Rouge, Louisiana police last weekend in which Holden's friend, LSU wide receiver Koy Moore, claimed he was violated by the officers. Moore made the incident public Sunday with a statement posted to Twitter. The Tigers freshman said police officers drew their guns and unzipped his pants looking for weapons, even though Moore said he was not armed. Moore did not mention Holden in his statement, but Holden posted Sunday to T witter that the officers had "guns in our face" and "didn't care" that Moore played for LSU. Holden's tweet was in response to Tunmise Adeleye, an Alabama recruiting target in the 2021 class, suggesting Moore could have been killed if he did not identify himself as an LSU player.Moore's attorney, Ryan Thompson, told AL.com on Thursday that he has not been contacted by Nick Saban or anyone at the University of Alabama about Holden's encounter with police. "I want Alabama, the Tide, to know - Coach Saban to know - that this is a good kid," said Thompson, who is not yet representing Holden but has been authorized by his family to speak about his involvement. "He conducted himself as we would expect someone, a law-abiding citizen, to conduct himself . He was very cool, calm and collected.
