2023 ALL-BIG SOUTH-OVC FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION SECOND TEAM: DB - Jamari Brown, Gr., Gardner-Webb,...Brown finished the regular season with 57 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and two interceptions. The Miami, Fla. native also recorded two interceptions, includ ing a pick-six on the third play from scrimmage at Tennessee Tech, giving Gardner-Webb an early 7-0 lead in a 35-0 win over the Golden Eagles. Brown also had an interception against #13 UT Martin, and set a career-high with 11 tackles at Tennessee State. - Gardner-Webb Football

SEPT 12 BIG SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb defensive back Jamari Brown (Miami, Fla.) was all over the field on Saturday at Coastal Carolina that included a pair of forced turnovers in a narrow 31-27 loss to the Chanticleers. His 17-yard fumble recovery and return set up a game-tying field goal in the second quarter, while his 54-yard interception return set GWU up inside the Chanticleers' red zone late in the second quarter. Brown tallied five total tackles (three solo) and added a hal f-tackle for loss. Also nominated for Defensive Player of the Week: Joe Andreessen (Bryant) and Gabe Holmes (Campbell). - Big South Football
