Syracuse grabbed former Florida Atlantic University wide receiver D'Marcus Adams out of the portal on Friday. This will be Adams' second transfer after originally signing with Florida State in 2018. Adams will come to Syracuse as a graduate transfer and be eligible to play in the fall. Adams is a former high school All-American and track star from Mainland High School in Florida. He also ran track at Florida State. He first committed to Florida State under former coach Jimbo Fisher, then signed with the Seminoles after Fisher left for Texas A&M and Willie Taggart got the job.Adams is a burner. He reportedly ran a 4.37 40 at the Jimbo Fisher Camp in 2017, around the time he committed. He was credited with 26 receptions for 592 yards, an average o f 22.8 yards per reception, with three touchdowns as a senior in high school. His college career has yet to take off to that degree. He has three catches in three seasons after taking a redshirt at FSU in 2018. He left that program after not seeing the f ield in 2019. Adams has also been utilized as a return specialist throughout his career. - The Post-Standard

The news D'Marcus Adams had been waiting for finally came last week. After nearly eight months of waiting, Adams - a redshirt sophomore wide receiver who joined FAU from Florida State - got the call from Owls coach Willie Taggart that the NCAA approved h is transfer waiver. His excitement was palpable during a teleconference with reporters Tuesday, four days after he made the announcement on social media that he'll be eligible to play this season after enrolling at Florida Atlantic in January. "When you get a call from the head coach, you know it's something serious," Adams said with a grin, with the news meaning he'll be eligible for the Owls' season and home opener versus Charlotte on Saturday. "When I got the call and I heard the news, I just started smiling. My cheeks were hurting so much." Adams once again has the opportunity to play for Taggart, who coached the 6-foot receiver during his two seasons with FSU. - Sun-Sentinel
