Pitt returns all three of its leading rushers from last season in Israel Abanikanda, Vincent Davis and Rodney Hammond Jr. - each rushed for at least 500 yards in 2021 and combined to score 20 touchdowns - as well as short-yardage thumper Daniel Carter, w ho is battling for an increased role this season. Such a crowded backfield might deter most running backs from joining the team, but Notre Dame grad transfer C'Bo Flemister said it only enticed him even more."As far as the backs, I watched their f ilm and I saw how good they were, and I'll be honest, that made me happier," said Flemister, who spoke to the media on Monday for the first time since joining the Panthers just before the start of camp. "I feel like I'm a good back, and I need to be arou nd good backs. That's going to push me to be even better, so that was big." Flemister played in 25 games as a reserve back for the Fighting Irish, rushing for 471 yards and 10 touchdowns on 110 carries. He had his best season in 2020, when he helped Notr e Dame finish 10-2 and reach the College Football Playoff with 299 yards and five TDs on 58 carries (6.4 yards per carry). - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Over a four-hour span on Saturday morning into the afternoon, Pat Narduzzi fired off five tweets, each indicating a new verbal commitment in Pitt's 2023 recruiting class. And on Sunday, Pitt added another player to the fold: Notre Dame transfer running b ack C'Bo Flemister. Flemister will provide more immediate contributions as a summer signee. The Notre Dame running back will have two years of eligibility available with the Panthers.Flemister tallied 10 touchdowns and 471 yards on 110 carries dur ing his career with the Fighting Irish. The addition of Flemister brings another experienced ball-carrier to Pitt's running back room. Israel Abanikanda (651 yards), Vincent Davis (593) and Rodney Hammond (504) - the Panthers' three leading rushers from last season - will be back this fall. Pitt also has Daniel Carter, who was named the most improved offensive player of spring camp. - Pittsburgh Post Gazette

University of Notre Dame running back C'Bo Flemister could have a misdemeanor charge against him dismissed after entering into an agreement with prosecutors. Flemister is charged with leaving the scene of an accident when police found his BMW crashed on South Bend Avenue in April. The 21-year-old agreed to enter a pretrial diversion program last month, meaning prosecutors will not continue proceedings against Flemister and will dismiss the charge one year from now, provided he meet certain conditions. | | | | |
